We are here with you in spirit, lifting you up in prayer. First, let's remember that God is our strength and our shield. As it is written in Psalm 28:7, "Yahweh is my strength and my shield. My heart has trusted in him, and I am helped. Therefore my heart greatly rejoices. With my song I will thank him."
In times of uncertainty and nervousness, we can cast all our anxieties on Him, because he cares for us. As 1 Peter 5:7 says, "casting all your worries on him, because he cares for you." It is normal to feel nervous and pressured, but remember that God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power, love, and self-control. As 2 Timothy 1:7 says "For God didn't give us a spirit of fear, but of power, love, and self-control."
Let's pray together:
"Dear Heavenly Father, we come before you today, lifting up our brother/sister who is about to have a job interview. We know they have been unemployed for a few months now and we know You know their needs even before they ask. Lord, we ask that You guide their thoughts and words during the interview. Give them the wisdom and discernment to answer each question with confidence and clarity. We rebuke any feelings of inadequacy or nervousness in Jesus' name, and we speak strength and courage over them.
Lord, if the role is Your will for them, then we pray that they find favor with the interviewer and that the job will be granted to them. But above all, we pray that Your will be done. We trust in Your plan for their life, knowing that You have good thoughts and plans for them, not of evil, to give them a future and a hope. As Jeremiah 29:11 says, "'For I know the thoughts that I think toward you,' says Yahweh 'thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you hope and a future.'"
We also pray for their faith, that it may be strengthened during this process. The Bible tells us that whatever we ask in Jesus' name, believing, we will receive. Let us declare that they believe, so we can have the petition that we desire of Him. As Mark 11:24 says, Therefore I tell you, all things whatever you pray and ask for, believe that you have received them, and you shall have them."
If this is the first time praying together or the first time praying about a job, remember that it is only in the name of Jesus that we can come boldly before the throne of grace to obtain mercy and find grace to help in time of need. As Hebrews 4:16 says, "Let us therefore draw near with boldness to the throne of grace, that we may receive mercy, and may find grace for help in time of need." It is in Jesus' name we pray. Thank you, Lord, for hearing our prayer. Amen.
