Prayer for High Minnesota Winds
We join you in prayer today for ### as these high winds move through, and we continue to lift up ### as well when even stronger sustained winds and gusts are expected. We are thankful for your heart to call others to pray for protection and safety, and we stand with you seeking the Lord's mercy over every community, home, roadway, and school.
We are reminded that our God is sovereign even over the wind. Scripture tells us Psalm 107:29 He makes the storm a calm, so that its waves are still. And in Mark 4:39 He awoke, and rebuked the wind, and said to the sea, Peace Be still The wind ceased, and there was a great calm. Nothing is outside His control, and He is our refuge in every trouble. Psalm 46:1 God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble. Nahum 1:7 Yahweh is good, a stronghold in the day of trouble, and he knows those who take refuge in him.
We pray together now.
Father in heaven, we come before You in the mighty name of Jesus, and we thank You that You hear us when we call upon You. Lord, we ask for Your hand of protection over ### today and again on ###. Calm these winds according to Your will, and where the winds must blow, keep people safe from harm. Protect drivers on the roads, children and staff in schools that remain open, those who work outdoors, and those in homes and buildings. Guard against power outages, falling trees, flying debris, and accidents, and give wisdom to leaders, first responders, and school officials as they make decisions for safety. Let Your peace rest over families who may feel anxious, and remind them that Proverbs 18:10 The name of Yahweh is a strong tower the righteous run to it, and are safe. We ask that You would keep all safe and that no life would be lost or property severely damaged, and we trust Your perfect will in all things. In Jesus name we pray, amen.
We encourage you to continue to trust the Lord and to also take practical steps of wisdom during these wind events, securing outdoor items, allowing extra time for travel, staying aware of weather alerts, and following the guidance of local authorities. God often works through both prayer and prudent preparation.
We also want to gently share something important we noticed, that your request did not mention the name of Jesus Christ. We want you to know that it is only through Jesus that we have access to God and that our prayers are heard. John 14:6 Jesus said to him, I am the way, the truth, and the life No one comes to the Father, except through me. And Acts 4:12 There is salvation in none other, for neither is there any other name under heaven, that is given among men, by which we must be saved. It is because Jesus died for our sins and rose again that we can be forgiven and have eternal life when we put our faith in Him. Romans 10:9 that if you will confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. If you have not yet trusted in Jesus as your Savior, we encourage you to call upon Him today, and if you already know Him, we rejoice that we can come boldly before the throne of grace together in His name.
We will keep praying with you for calm, for safety, and for peace across ### in the days ahead.

We join our hearts with yours in prayer for ### in these days of high winds. We have heard your burden for today with sustained winds near ### miles per hour and gusts to ###, and for Tuesday September ### with sustained winds near ### and gusts to ###, and we bring it before our God who reigns over wind and wave.
There is no attribute more comforting to His children than divine sovereignty. Under the most adverse circumstances, even in severe troubles, we believe that sovereignty has ordained our afflictions, that sovereignty overrules them, and that sovereignty will sanctify them. The winds do not blow apart from His hand. He who alone did lead His people and who trains them as an eagle trains her young for flight is the same Lord who holds these winds in His fists and creates to display His own perfections.
We constantly need to cry to God to keep us from falling, remembering what a dreadful thing it would be for us to fall, and our safety lies in our Savior, God our Savior, who is able to keep us from falling. We ask Him to keep you in safety against every danger, to grant divine and angelic keeping in all your ways, for He gives His angels charge over His people to keep them in all their ways. We pray for divine interpositions of deliverance from floods of trouble, not miraculous in show but full of wonder, remarkable preservations of life, that He would deliver feet from falling and keep homes and roads and schools in peace.
We ask the Lord to show His divine gentleness in these hours, to restrain the power of the wind, to set a boundary to its force, and to turn aside harm from families and travelers and workers outdoors. We pray especially for the schools that remain open, for children and teachers and drivers and all who must be abroad, that the Lord would hedge them about and bring all safely home, and that no hurt would come to any soul.
May this trial dissolve into thanksgiving as you see His hand in everything, and may you be able to say, He hath delivered my soul from death, mine eyes from tears, and my feet from falling. We commend you to Him who is able to present you faultless before the presence of His glory with exceeding joy, trusting that His throne might sooner fail than that a saint kept by Him should perish.
We pray this in the name of Jesus Christ our only Savior, to whom be glory and majesty, dominion and power, both now and ever. Amen.

God bless me to know You in truth, fall in love with You with all my heart, mind, soul, body, and strength and never fall out of love with You. God, bless me to have an ever growing closer stronger, more intimate relationship with You.
