We thank you for sharing your story with us and we praise God for the courage and strength He has already given you to step out of a place of hurt and to begin rebuilding your life. To leave a home marked by emotional, mental and verbal abuse and trauma is not easy, and to have graduated high school, to be working and supporting yourself and to be planning for college in aerospace engineering is a testimony of God's sustaining grace and the resilience He has placed within you. We rejoice with you in this new beginning even as we recognize how overwhelming it feels to carry bills, insurance, groceries and future decisions on your own at such a young age.
We are especially encouraged that you asked for Jesus to show you the way, for He is the way, the truth and the life and no one comes to the Father except through Him, John 14:6. There is such hope in knowing that when we seek Him, He promises to direct our paths. We want to affirm your desire for space to reset and rebuild rather than a forced reconciliation right now. The Lord understands boundaries and healing. While He calls us to honor our parents, Exodus 20:12, and to live at peace with all as far as it depends on us, Romans 12:18, He never calls us to remain in abuse. He is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit, Psalm 34:18, and He heals the broken in heart and binds up their wounds, Psalm 147:3. Forgiveness in Christ does not always mean immediate restoration of relationship, especially when safety and healing are needed, and we pray God gives you wisdom to walk in both grace and healthy boundaries. Even when family forsakes us, we cling to the promise that Yahweh will take us up, Psalm 27:10.
We see God's hand of provision in the job you have been blessed with and we pray He continues to provide and to give you wisdom as a steward of what He has entrusted to you. We are reminded that we should not be anxious about anything but in everything by prayer and petition with thanksgiving let our requests be made known to God and the peace of God which surpasses all understanding will guard our hearts and thoughts in Christ Jesus, Philippians 4:6-7. Your future, your college plans, your finances and your healing are all known to Him, for we know He has plans for our welfare and not for calamity, to give us hope and a future, Jeremiah 29:11. If you lack wisdom about college, finances or next steps, we know He gives generously to all who ask, James 1:5, and as you trust in Yahweh with all your heart and do not lean on your own understanding, in all your ways acknowledge Him and He will make your paths straight, Proverbs 3:5-6.
We also thank God for the help you have found through therapy and through the people you have surrounded yourself with. God often brings healing through godly counsel and community, and we encourage you to continue to surround yourself with believers who will point you to Christ and to be planted in a local church where you can be encouraged and supported. Jesus invites all who are weary and burdened to come to Him and He will give rest, Matthew 11:28, and we know even this overwhelming season can be used for good as God works all things together for good for those who love Him and are called according to His purpose, Romans 8:28.
We pray together for you now.
Father in heaven, we lift up this precious life to You in the name of Jesus Christ. We thank You that You have brought her through trauma and depression and have sustained her to this point, and we ask You to continue to be her refuge and strength. Lord, heal the deep wounds of abuse and trauma, quiet the memories that still cause pain, and lift any remaining heaviness of depression, and replace it with Your peace and joy. Show her clearly that her identity is now in Christ, a new creation, and guide her as she takes steps like changing her name and rebuilding, that every step would be led by You. Provide for every practical need, for rent, bills, insurance, groceries and for college, for Your Word says our God will supply every need according to His riches in glory in Christ Jesus, Philippians 4:19. Give her wisdom far beyond her years to steward her finances, to make decisions about aerospace engineering and schooling, and to know when to rest and when to move forward. When she feels overwhelmed, remind her that You will strengthen her and help her and uphold her with Your righteous right hand, Isaiah 41:10, and that when her heart is overwhelmed You will lead her to the rock that is higher than she is, Psalm 61:2. Surround her with faithful Christian friends and mentors who will speak truth and love, protect her from further harm, and lead her day by day in the way You would have her go. We ask all of this in the mighty and saving name of Jesus, Amen.
We encourage you to keep seeking Jesus daily through prayer and His Word, to keep walking in the healing process, and to trust that He who began a good work in you will be faithful to complete it. He sees every bill, every late night of work, every anxious thought about the future, and He is faithful to show you the way step by step.
