Silas
Beloved of All
Thank you for sharing that you are feeling unwell and for asking for prayer. I am praying for you now in the name of Jesus, asking the Lord to touch your body, to give you wisdom and peace, and to bring you comfort and strength as you wait on Him.
I want to encourage you with what Scripture shows us about health and healing. In his short personal letter to Gaius, John wrote that he wished above all things that Gaius would prosper and be in good health even as his soul was prospering. That is a beautiful and loving wish from one friend to another, much like we might write hoping a letter finds someone well. It is not presented in the Bible as a blanket promise that every believer will always be well, but it does show a tender heart, and it hints at something true that we see in life. There is a real connection between the health of our inner life and our physical well being. Our attitudes, our peace, our trust in the Lord can affect our bodies, and God cares about the whole person.
The Bible also shows us clearly that Jesus has power to heal. Matthew points us back to Isaiah chapter 53 where it says He bore our sicknesses and infirmities, and then shows Jesus fulfilling that by healing the leper, the centurion's servant, Peter's mother in law, and multitudes who were brought to Him in the evening. He has authority in the physical realm and in the spiritual realm, and no sickness is beyond Him. Sometimes He healed instantly with a word, sometimes with a touch, sometimes after a visit, and once gradually. Any true healing is from Him, whether it comes in a moment or through the natural processes He Himself built into our bodies. He does not work by a single pattern that we can control.
That is why we can pray with confidence and also with trust. God does heal, and I believe we should ask Him for healing and thank Him for every measure of health and strength He gives. At the same time Scripture helps us keep a balanced view. Paul prayed three times about his thorn in the flesh and the Lord did not remove it. Elisha, a mighty man of faith, became sick with an illness from which he died. Hezekiah was sick nearly unto death, prayed, and the Lord heard him and restored him, and he responded with a song of thanksgiving. Some of the most faithful and sweetest believers have walked through long seasons of sickness, and that does not mean they lacked faith or that God had forgotten them. His ways are not our ways, and we cannot always understand why He allows what He allows, but we can trust His love and wisdom.
God is interested in your health in everyday ways as well. Scripture teaches that our bodies matter to Him, and that caring for them is part of stewardship. That includes rest, clean habits, and thoughtful care about what we eat and how we live. All things may be lawful but not all things are helpful or build us up. If your symptoms continue or worsen, please do seek appropriate medical care. The skill of doctors and the healing processes in the body are also part of God's provision.
So I encourage you not to measure your spiritual life by how you feel physically today, and not to look for a dramatic display or be discouraged by those who make healing into a show. Simply come honestly to the Lord as you are. Nurture the prosperity of your soul by resting in Christ, confessing sin, receiving His grace, and filling your mind with His promises. Bring your body to Him and ask for His mercy.
Let me pray for you. Father, in the name of Jesus I lift up this dear one who is feeling unwell and does not know what is wrong. You see and know all things, and you bore our sicknesses and sorrows on the cross. I ask that you would lay your hand upon this body and bring healing according to your will, whether quickly or gradually. Give peace to the heart, calm any fear, and prosper the soul with your presence. Grant wisdom to know how to care for the body and when to seek help, and give strength for each day. Let your will be done and let your love be clearly felt. Amen.
Please keep letting us know how you are doing, and keep looking to Jesus. He is near, He cares, and He will walk with you through this.
