Prayer for Health and Financial Provision

You ask for health and daily provision, and you give thanks for your daughter’s progress in learning. This is good, but let us understand what true health is. The body’s health is a great thing, but the soul’s health is as much greater as the soul is better than the body. For a body may thrive while the soul wastes away with wickedness, and then the whole man is not whole. Remember how the Lord made “a whole man healthy,” not merely a part. So pray first that your souls be restored: that you and your household may be delivered from every spiritual disease and brought to the very summit of virtue. A publican, a harlot, a thief, these were made citizens of Paradise through repentance and faith. He can do the same for you if you yield your will to Him.

When you ask for daily needs, seek not to light up the flame of desire by making provision for the flesh to fulfill its lusts. Take care of the body for health, not for wantonness. A little wine for the stomach’s sake, as the Apostle says, but not drunkenness; food, but not gluttony; clothing, but not extravagant display. This present life is a sleep, and its riches are like dreams that fly away. The things of this life are like smoke, they make the soul’s eyes weep. Instead, nourish your soul’s eye in the pure air of spiritual oracles, and it will become quick-sighted and healthy. Pray then for bread enough, but despise wealth and do not be mastered by poverty. Under the New Covenant, neither is a curse or blessing in itself; what matters is the condition of the heart.

For your daughters, you do well to ask wisdom from God. But beware the wisdom of this world, which is foolishness with Him. The wisdom that is from above is pure, modest, and full of good fruits. Teach your daughters to be keepers at home, pious, despisers of wealth, indifferent to outward ornament. Let them go from your house to marriage like combatants from the school of exercise, able to transform a whole household by their virtue. For the root being made good, good branches will shoot forth, and you will receive a reward for saving not only them, but their future husbands, children, and grandchildren. Let your sons likewise be steady and sober, governing their appetites.

Do all things, therefore, with an eye to the soul’s health and the glory of God. For He has made known to us the mystery of His will, that those who were worth nothing might be raised to wealth and abundance, not of money, but of grace. Strive for that true prosperity, and you will be truly whole.

It is good that you are bringing your family before the Lord, trusting Him for health and daily provision. Your gratitude for your daughter’s progress in school is a mark of a heart that sees God’s hand in every step. Hold onto that thankfulness, because it opens the door to something even greater.

As you pray for your daughters to receive wisdom, you are touching on the most precious gift God can give. Wisdom is not just knowing facts; it is the ability to apply knowledge rightly. While education is valuable, wisdom is what will preserve them and guide their paths. The Scriptures tell us that wisdom is the principal thing, worth more than rubies, and that all the things we might desire cannot compare with her. When we seek wisdom, we are really seeking Christ Himself, for in Him are hidden all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge.

I encourage you to make wisdom the great pursuit of your home. The fear of the Lord is where it begins. Teach your daughters that true wisdom comes from above, not from the world’s shifting ideas. It is first pure, then peaceable, gentle, and full of good fruits. When they embrace wisdom, they will be promoted and honored. This is a far greater treasure than any material wealth.

As you seek first His wisdom and righteousness, do not be anxious about your daily needs. Remember how Solomon asked for an understanding heart and not for riches, and God not only gave him unmatched wisdom but also added wealth and honor. So when you commit your family to walking in the fear of the Lord, He watches over their health and provision. The laws He has given for the family build it up and strengthen relationships. Trust that as you love and exalt wisdom, she will keep you and your household. I will join you in praying that God restores health, supplies every need, and fills your daughters with His own wise and understanding Spirit.

It has been our joy to lift up your family’s health before the Lord, asking Him to restore strength and vitality to each one of you. We have also prayed earnestly for His provision, trusting that He will meet your daily needs according to His riches in glory. Your daughters have been on our hearts as well—we’ve asked the Lord to grant them wisdom, favor, and continued success in their studies, especially as your oldest enters her ### year.
