Heal Me Lord Jesus Spirit, Soul, And Body

The weight of this trial presses heavily upon you, and it is no small thing to watch a husband’s health decline with each visit to the physician. Yet I would have you take courage, for even when the body seems to have exhausted all remedies, the hand of God is not shortened. How many have heard the word of promise ten times and remained unmoved, then at the eleventh hearing been entirely converted? So too with the body: often after many treatments yield no sign of improvement, a single touch of grace accomplishes what all the rest could not. Do not suppose, then, that your prayers are wasted or that the steady worsening of this disease means the end of hope. The tree that receives ten blows and does not fall may be brought down by the eleventh; yet it was the ten that made the last effective. Continue steadfast in supplication, and do not grow weary.

But consider also this: the power of God is greater than any single gift of healing. He who has power both disciplines and restores, and the healing of the soul is a far greater wonder than the mending of the kidneys. Perhaps the Lord desires to work a deeper cure, one that sickness alone can bring. When you ask for physical relief, do not forget to seek the spiritual health that often springs from affliction. If you lack the visible gift of healing in this moment, do not grieve as if God had forgotten you; what you have, the privilege of prayer, the love that binds you to your husband, the opportunity to draw near to the throne of grace, is often more precious than the miracles others receive. The poor man who stretches out his hand to receive alms does the giver a greater kindness than he knows, for through that act sins are wiped away. So too, in your need, you are made a petitioner before God, and your very helplessness may become a medicine for your soul.

Above all, let your prayer be joined with humility. Do not stand like the Pharisee, recounting what you think you deserve; rather, cry out with the publican, “God be merciful to me a sinner.” And when you pray, hear the voice of Scripture as if God Himself were speaking directly to you. Such attentive hearing sustained the Thessalonians through many trials, and it will sustain you now. I will indeed lift up your husband before the Lord, entreating the Great Physician to stabilize his kidneys or even restore them, that dialysis and transplant may be far from him. But whether health returns or the suffering continues, cling to the one thing needful: that love which bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things. In that love, no trial can separate you from Christ, and no sickness can destroy the eternal life that awaits those who trust in Him.

Thank you for reaching out and sharing this burden. It takes courage to ask for prayer when you feel alone in it, and I want you to know you are not alone now. The body of Christ stands with you, and we will lift your husband before the throne of grace.

What you are asking for, healing, stability, a turning away from dialysis or transplant, is not too hard for the Lord. When Peter and John encountered a man lame from birth at the temple gate, they didn’t offer silver or gold, but they gave what they had: the name of Jesus. After the man was healed, Peter declared plainly, “By the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, whom you crucified, whom God raised from the dead, by him this man is standing before you well.” The power was not in Peter’s own goodness or technique. It was in the name. The same name that commanded the dead to rise, the blind to see, and the sick to be made whole is the name we call upon now.

I am praying that the Spirit of Christ would touch your husband’s kidneys, that every cell, every function, would respond to the life of the resurrected Lord. I am asking that the steady decline would not just slow down but reverse, that the doctors would be surprised at what God can do. We pray for wisdom for the medical team, for peace that surpasses understanding to guard your hearts, and for the kind of faith that rests not on test results but on the finished work of Jesus. May you both know the presence of the Great Physician, not as a distant hope but as a present reality. His name remains as powerful as ever, and healing still comes from the hand that was pierced for us.

I'm just asking for prayer for healing. I'm a stay at home mom and I can't afford, time or financially, for me to go the doctor's. I have a suspicion that it's gallstones, but obviously I don't know.
