Prayer for God's protection and healing

Praise the Lord. Please pray for me as I'm struggling with lust and anger issues. And pray for God's protection over me and my family. People are troubling me so much that I lose control sometimes. As it says in Exodus 14:14 The Lord will fight for you, you need only to be still. Amen 🙏🏻

We thank you for sharing your heart honestly and for asking for prayer for protection and healing and we join with you in bringing this before our Father in Jesus' name.

We praise God that you desire to be free from lust and anger and to walk in His protection over you and your family. These struggles are real and the enemy would like to use them to bring shame and to cause you to lose control, but God offers both forgiveness and power to overcome. We must gently rebuke what needs to be rebuked, for lust is not a small struggle but sin that begins in the heart. Jesus said that everyone who gazes at a woman to lust after her has committed adultery with her already in his heart in Matthew 5:28. We are also told to flee sexual immorality in 1 Corinthians 6:18 and to flee youthful lusts and pursue righteousness, faith, love, and peace in 2 Timothy 2:22. God created sexual desire to be fulfilled only within the lifelong marriage covenant between one man and one woman, and any indulgence outside of that, whether in thought, in looking, or in action, is fornication that we must turn from. Likewise anger itself can become sin when we lose control. We are told to be angry, and yet don't sin. Don't let the sun go down on your wrath, neither give place to the devil in Ephesians 4:26-27, and that everyone should be swift to hear, slow to speak, and slow to anger, for the anger of man doesn't produce the righteousness of God in James 1:19-20. When people trouble you and provoke you, losing control is not God's will for you, for God didn't give us a spirit of fear, but of power, love, and self-control in 2 Timothy 1:7 and self-control is part of the fruit of the Spirit in Galatians 5:22-23.

We love that you quoted Exodus 14:14, Yahweh will fight for you, and you shall be still. That is true and we cling to that promise with you. God is your protection and He is the protection over your family as you trust Him. He who dwells in the secret place of the Most High will rest in the shadow of the Almighty. I will say of Yahweh, He is my refuge and my fortress; my God, in whom I trust in Psalm 91:1-2. He is faithful and He will guard you. No temptation has taken you except what is common to man. God is faithful, who will not allow you to be tempted above what you are able, but will with the temptation also make the way of escape, that you may be able to endure it in 1 Corinthians 10:13.

We also want to lovingly point out that your request did not mention the name of Jesus Christ, and we want to ensure you know that it is only through Him that we have access to the Father and it is only by His name that we are saved. There is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven that is given among men, by which we must be saved in Acts 4:12. Jesus said, I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me in John 14:6. It is by believing in Jesus, that He died for our sins and rose again, and confessing Him as Lord, that we are forgiven and made new. If you have not yet fully trusted in Jesus alone for salvation, we urge you to do so today, and if you have, we encourage you to pray always in His mighty name, for that is our access and our victory.

We pray together for you now.

Father, in the name of Jesus Christ we come before Your throne of grace and we lift up our brother to You. Lord, we thank You for his honest heart and his desire to be holy. We ask for Your forgiveness where he has given in to lust in thought or deed and where anger has caused him to lose control, and we thank You that if we confess our sins, You are faithful and righteous to forgive us the sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness in 1 John 1:9. Wash him clean by the blood of Jesus. Fill him with Your Holy Spirit and renew his mind. Help him to take every thought captive and to fix his eyes on what is pure and holy. Give him strength to flee temptation, to turn his eyes away, to guard his heart, and to walk in purity. Give him a gentle and quiet spirit that is slow to anger and quick to forgive. Teach him to be still before You and to let You fight for him when people trouble him and persecute him. We pray for Your divine protection over him and over his entire family, that no weapon formed against them would prosper and that You would encamp Your angels around them. Heal his heart, heal his mind, and grant him peace that surpasses understanding. Lead him to walk in accountability, in the Word daily, in prayer, and in fellowship with godly believers who will encourage him toward holiness and toward marriage if it is Your will, that his life would honor You. We ask all this in the precious and powerful name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior. Amen.

We encourage you to stay in the Word daily, to memorize scripture to use when temptation comes, to be in prayer continually, and to seek a mature Christian brother or pastor to walk with you for accountability. Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind in Romans 12:2. When anger rises, step away, pray, and remember that vengeance belongs to the Lord and He will fight for you as you remain still in Him.

We are grateful you reached out and shared this so honestly. Wanting to honor God while wrestling with lust and anger, and feeling pressed by people around you to the point of losing control, is an exhausting place to be. We want you to know you are not alone in this struggle, and we are praying with you.

One thing that has helped many believers is learning to notice what is happening just before the anger or temptation rises. Often anger is carrying something else underneath like feeling hurt, frustrated, or afraid for yourself or your family. Pausing in that moment to name what you are really feeling and bringing that honestly to the Lord can keep the energy of anger from taking over. It also helps to see growth as training over time rather than trying harder in the moment. Small, steady practices like a brief prayer when tempted, stepping away for a few minutes when tensions rise, and inviting a trusted mature believer to check in with you weekly can slowly build new patterns.

We are also praying for God's protection over you and your family as you navigate difficult relationships.

Father, we lift our brother to You and ask for Your protection over him and his household. Bring healing where there is hurt, calm where there is anger, and strength to turn from temptation. Give him wisdom with those who trouble him, and help him to rest in Your care while he learns to walk in Your ways. Grow him day by day and guard his family. In Jesus' name, amen.

Your honest and humble confession has been heard, and we thank God that you have not hidden your need from Him who searches the heart and tries the reins of the children of men.

It is a good and necessary work to set Caution and Self examination at the helm of the soul. You do well to cry with the Psalmist, Search me, O God, and know my heart. Lust and anger are not small foes to be excused, they are to be mortified, and this is not done in self strength. Without Christ you can do nothing, and every grain of self reliance is but weakness. The Christian who lives near to God will feel his own lowliness and will not trust himself again, but will look to the Lord Jesus Christ for all things, for He is alive and is our familiar Friend, mighty to save and mighty to keep.

You speak truly when you quote that word, The Lord shall fight for you, and ye shall hold your peace. When men trouble you and provoke you to lose control, be still before the Lord, not in sullen passivity, but in a stillness of faith that trusts His sovereign hand to do as He wills. He lifts up the humble and He will be your protection. Yet stillness before God is not stillness in sin. The same God who fights for you calls you to fight against sin within you, looking to Christ to overcome both the evil without and the evil within.

Therefore humble yourself under the mighty hand of God. Bring your lust and your anger to the cross where Christ bore bitterness and scorn for sinners, and ask the Holy Spirit to make sin hateful and Christ precious to you. Self loathing for sin, wrought by grace, makes a man self distrustful and makes the Saviour dear. Watch and pray, examine your motives and your thoughts, and flee from every occasion that feeds lust or kindles wrath.

We join our prayer with yours for healing and protection.

O Lord our God, who alone saves through Jesus Christ Thy Son, look in mercy upon this soul and upon his household. Forgive sin through the blood of Christ, cleanse the heart from lust, subdue anger by Thy Spirit, and grant self control and purity. Fight for him where he is weak and troubled, keep him and his family under the shadow of Thy wing, and teach him to be still and know that Thou art God. Lead him to live in daily dependence upon Christ, without whom he can do nothing, and make him to flourish not by self but by Thy grace. In the name of Jesus we ask it, Amen.

May God in Jesus' name answer your prayer request according to God's perfect love, wisdom, will, timing, grace, and mercy. God is so in love with you. Be Encouraged!

Heal Me Lord Jesus Spirit, Soul, And Body

We have heard your prayer and we join with you in bringing it before the Lord. Thank you for sharing your struggle so honestly. The desire to be free from lust and anger, and to see your family kept safe under God's hand, is pleasing to Him, and He hears those who call on Him for help.

Scripture teaches that both anger and lust are passions planted in us for good purposes, but when left unchecked they lead us into sin. Anger was given that we might correct what is evil and stand for what is right, not that we might lose control and wound others. Desire was given to be lived out faithfully within the lifelong covenant of marriage between one man and one woman, not to rule over our thoughts and eyes. For this reason the Lord calls us not only to turn away from the outward acts, but to cut off the sources that feed them. For anger, that means putting away bitterness, clamour and railing. For lust, it means guarding the eyes and the tongue, turning away from looking to lust and from filthy talk and jesting that stir up the heart. When we remove the fuel, the fire has less power to kindle.

You mentioned that people are troubling you and you sometimes lose control. It is understandable to feel pressed on every side. Yet the wisdom of God calls us to become like a harbor free from disturbance, not like a sea tossed by every blast. Those who insult or provoke hope to make the sting felt. When we answer without anger, with self control and quiet trust, we keep our own soul at peace and we do not condemn ourselves afterward. With God's grace it is possible to stand firm and even to do what is right without giving way to wrath. As you quoted, the Lord will fight for you, you need only to be still. That stillness is not passivity, but a confident trust that God sees, God judges rightly, and God will protect.

Let us pray for you and your household.

Heavenly Father, we come to You through Jesus Christ alone, our only hope of salvation. Have mercy on our brother and forgive his sins. Wash him and renew him by Your Spirit. Grant him healing and strength to walk in self control, to guard his eyes and his heart, and to put away anger and lust at the root. Fill him with Your peace when provocation comes, and teach him to be still and trust that You fight for him. Place Your hand of protection over him and over his family. Keep them from harm, guard their home, and let no trouble separate them from Your love. Lead him daily in the way of virtue, not for reward alone but out of love for You, and make him steadfast in prayer and in Your Word. We ask this in the name of Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

Continue to seek the Lord daily, stay in His Word, flee quickly from what tempts you, and practice that stillness before Him in prayer when anger rises. He is faithful to keep and to form you more and more into the likeness of His Son.
