Prayer for forgiveness of all sins, trespasses and shortcomings

Anonymous

Beloved of All
Father God, I repent and confess all my sins, trespasses and shortcomings to you…. Please forgive me….. in the mighty name of Jesus…. And I know accept salvation….. please pray for me that I would walk the straight and narrow and I would stay truthful to the word of God….

We come before the throne of grace with a heart of repentance, just as you have done, lifting your cry for forgiveness to our Heavenly Father. Your words reflect a deep desire to turn away from sin and walk in the light of God’s truth, and for that, we rejoice with you. The Bible tells us in 1 John 1:9, "If we confess our sins, he is faithful and righteous to forgive us the sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness." Your confession is heard, and your sins are washed away by the blood of Jesus Christ, who paid the price for them on the cross.

We also take comfort in knowing that you have accepted salvation through Jesus Christ. There is no other name under heaven by which we must be saved (Acts 4:12), and it is only through His sacrifice that we can stand forgiven and redeemed. Your faith in Him is the foundation upon which your new life is built, and we pray that you will continue to grow in the knowledge and love of our Savior.

However, we must also address the importance of walking in obedience to God’s Word. The path of righteousness is narrow, and the enemy will seek to draw you away from it through temptation, distraction, or even discouragement. But we are reminded in Proverbs 3:5-6, "Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and don’t lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will direct your paths." Stay rooted in Scripture, surround yourself with fellow believers who will encourage you in your faith, and remain vigilant in prayer. The Holy Spirit is your guide and helper, and He will strengthen you to resist sin and walk in truth.

We also want to gently remind you that true repentance involves not only confessing sin but also turning away from it. In Acts 3:19, we read, "Repent therefore, and turn again, that your sins may be blotted out, that times of refreshing may come from the Lord’s presence." If there are areas in your life where you continue to struggle with sin, we encourage you to seek accountability and support from your church or trusted Christian friends. Do not carry the burden alone, for God has given us the body of Christ to uplift and strengthen one another.

Let us pray for you now:

Heavenly Father, we come before You with hearts full of gratitude for Your mercy and grace. We lift up our brother/sister who has humbly confessed their sins and sought Your forgiveness. Lord, we thank You for the blood of Jesus that cleanses us from all unrighteousness. We ask that You would wash over them with Your love and fill them with the peace that surpasses all understanding. Strengthen them, Father, to walk in obedience to Your Word and to resist the temptations of the enemy. Surround them with godly influences and open their eyes to the path You have set before them.

Lord, we pray that You would continue to draw them closer to You, deepening their relationship with Jesus Christ. Help them to abide in Your Word, to meditate on it day and night, and to let it guide their steps. Give them the courage to turn away from sin and the wisdom to recognize the schemes of the devil. Fill them with Your Holy Spirit, that they may bear the fruit of righteousness and walk in the light as You are in the light.

Father, we also ask that You would protect their heart and mind from doubt, fear, or discouragement. Remind them daily of Your unfailing love and the promise of eternal life through faith in Jesus Christ. May they find joy in serving You and peace in knowing that their sins are forgiven. We pray that You would use them as a light in this world, drawing others to the saving knowledge of Your Son.

In the mighty name of Jesus Christ, we pray. Amen.

We encourage you to continue seeking God’s will for your life through prayer, reading His Word, and fellowship with other believers. The Christian walk is not always easy, but it is always worth it. Remember the words of Jesus in Matthew 7:14, "How narrow is the gate, and restricted is the way that leads to life! Few are those who find it." You are not alone on this journey, God is with you, and so are we. Keep pressing forward, and may the Lord bless you abundantly as you seek to honor Him in all you do.

We hear you, and we join you in asking God for the mercy that makes us whole. Your honest repentance is precious, and the very fact that you have turned toward Jesus with confession shows that God is already drawing you to Himself. Receiving forgiveness is not about perfect feelings; it rests on His faithfulness, not ours.

One thing that many of us have found helpful when we want to grow in walking the straight and narrow is to let others hold up our arms. The prayer support you asked for is exactly that. Alongside our prayers now, you might reach out to a trusted Christian friend, a pastor, or a small group and say, “I’m serious about staying close to Jesus, would you pray with me regularly and help me stay honest in my walk?” Knowing someone is faithfully praying for you, by name, often brings strength in moments of temptation or doubt. The enemy loves isolation; simple, ongoing connection with other believers reminds us we are not fighting alone.

At the same time, don’t let guilt over past sins become a heavier burden than the one Jesus already carried for you. Sometimes we need to deliberately shift our eyes from our own failures to His finished work. When the accuser tries to replay old trespasses, remember that your sins are forgiven, not because you feel forgiven, but because Christ spoke it over you. Your part now is to rise and walk with Him each day, one step at a time, trusting the Spirit to keep you truthful to the Word.

Lord Jesus, thank You for this one who has turned to You in repentance and placed their hope in Your saving grace. Quiet every whisper of condemnation, and let the reality of Your forgiveness sink deep into their heart. Give them courage to live in the freedom You purchased, and surround them with wise, loving companions who will encourage them on the narrow way. By Your Spirit, make them steadfast in Your truth, sensitive to Your voice, and quick to confess when they stumble. We entrust them to You, the Author and Finisher of our faith. In Your strong name, Jesus, we pray. Amen.

I hear in your plea a soul stirred to its depths, that holy agitation which is the first pulse of the new nature. Accursed ease is the bane of thousands, but to tremble before the word of the Lord is a hopeful sign. Your prayer rises not from a heart indifferent or self-secure; you have not come with the cold petition of the formalist, but with the cry of one who feels the burden of sin and longs to be done with it. This is well. The mercy is for the prayerless and the despisers of religion who turn at the last, for such as you who own their wretchedness. The promise stands: "I, even I, am he that blotteth out thy transgressions for mine own sake."

Here is the glad tidings: there is forgiveness with God, and there is no boundary set to it. Could you pile your iniquities to the height of the heavens, the flood of atoning blood would rise above them. I think you know this by the joy of acceptance breaking even now in your soul. But you speak also of walking the straight and narrow way, and this shows your repentance is not of the shallow sort that cries for pardon but scorns obedience. The true work of grace marries these two inseparably. Faith without works is a carcass, and obedience without faith is a painted lie. Let none flatter you that you may call Christ "Lord" and yet do the lusts of the flesh, he who so teaches would chain you to the galley oar of sin. Your own text of acceptance must be this: a faith that works, a pardon that purifies, a love that follows the Lamb wherever he goes.

Yet do not imagine that after forgiveness you will find holiness springing up of its own accord while you sit still. No, the command is given as to Joshua: "Be strong and very courageous, that you may observe to do according to all the law." This is the highest exploit of the Christian life, and it demands every fiber of your being bent in the strength of the Spirit. You must pray, you must watch, you must search the Scriptures as the miner searches for gold. A little child is teachable but also willful, and so the convert must learn to bow his neck to the yoke, not trusting in his own resolutions, but leaning upon the arm of the Beloved. When the women ran to tell the disciples that Christ was risen, they were in the way of active obedience, and as they went, Jesus met them. Even so, while you are running on the errand of holy living, you shall find Christ meeting you at every turn. Do not sit down in despair because you feel your faults, the child toward home stumbles often but presses on.

Let your life henceforth be a daily returning to the fountain opened. The blood of Jesus Christ cleanses from all sin, and it cleanses even now while you are walking in the light. If some fierce temptation should scorch you like that sun which burned as an oven, remember that the angel who poured the vial has no commission to touch a hair of the redeemed. You are under the wings of the Eternal. But take heed: if you venture into sin with a notion that grace will abound, you will prove yourself a bastard and no true son. The heirs of promise are a holy seed, and without holiness no man shall see the Lord. Yet that holiness is not the stiff starch of the Pharisee, but the tender grace of a heart that fears, trusts, and obeys.

As you have begun in the Spirit, seek not to be made perfect in the flesh. Keep your eye on the cross for peace, and your eye on the command for direction. The two tables of the law are still the rule of life, and the second table shines with peculiar brightness in this dark world. I charge you to be diligent in the secret place, for the prayerless professor is like a ship without ballast. Wrestle with God until you feel the power of obedience constraining you. And if you slip, do not lie in the mire, get up again, for the righteous falleth seven times and riseth up again. Go to him who is able to keep you from falling, and to present you faultless before the presence of his glory with exceeding joy. He will do it. Only believe, continue in his word, and you are not only pardoned but led forward as a conqueror in his train.

May God in Jesus' name answer your prayer request according to God's perfect love, wisdom, will, timing, grace, and mercy. God is so in love with you. Be Encouraged!

Heal Me Lord Jesus Spirit, Soul, And Body

Your confession is heard, for the mercy of God is unspeakable, and He has not appointed repentance for us only before the laver of baptism, but even after so great a gift, if we sin, He counts us among those who may be forgiven. The prayer He taught us to pray daily, asking for the forgiveness of our debts, belongs to believers; so it is clear that the profit of repentance is not taken away. Yet do not let this hope make you idle. The medicine of repentance has many herbs, but there is one essential: almsgiving. Give alms, and all things shall be clean; water quenches a flaming fire, and alms will do away with great sins. Let your repentance bear this fruit.

You ask to walk the straight and narrow way. It is exceedingly narrow, as the Lord said with wonder. But we make it more narrow by spreading out with the fat of worldly cares. He who practices being pinched, who makes himself lean from the burdens of this life, will not feel its pressure. The way is narrow because we must give account for thoughts, words, and actions, but it is also a way that passes; the pains are not permanent. So take up the Scriptures, for they are given by inspiration of God and are profitable to make the man of God perfect, thoroughly furnished to every good work. If you would learn anything, learn it from them. They are your guide in place of any teacher. Read beforehand, prepare your understanding, and you will find strength to stay truthful to the word of God.

Your prayer reaches the very heart of what it means to turn to God. You have confessed your sins, and you are looking to walk the narrow path with faithfulness to His Word. That desire itself is a work of grace stirring within you.

So many look everywhere else for guidance, but the Word alone is a lamp to your feet and a light to your path. Let it become your counselor. Everything you need to know of God’s mercy and His salvation comes to you through what He has spoken. The Holy Writings are not empty words; they are the wheat that produces true strength and growth in the Lord.

When you ask for forgiveness and accept salvation today, do not receive this grace in vain. The law was given to drive us to the end of ourselves, to make us quit striving in our own flesh for a righteous standing. God justifies the ungodly not by works, but through faith. He looks at the person who simply believes His promise, and He counts that faith as righteousness. Consider how it was credited to Abraham: he trusted that God was able to do whatever He had promised, even when the circumstances seemed impossible. Having that same fully persuaded trust in the finished work of Jesus is what anchors your soul.

Because Jesus learned obedience through what He suffered and submitted to the cross, He has become the source of eternal salvation for all who obey Him. The forgiveness you seek is not withheld; it is complete. God’s Word is settled forever, and in it He has sworn to show mercy. You do not need to bear a crushing weight of guilt anymore. He will not lay a burden on you that drives you to despair. Rather, He invites you to find rest in the unchanging truth that Jesus has done it all.

As you rise from this prayer, walk with the Word as your daily guide. Let your yes be yes and your no be no, living differently from the patterns of the world around you. The One who began a good work in you is faithful to keep you. He knows how to preserve those who are His, and His promise will not fail. Your trust in His Word is your refuge, a strong consolation that will hold you steady on the narrow way.
