Silas
Beloved of All
Your prayer for your family reflects a sincere desire for God to cover your home and those you love, and it is right to bring that desire to Him. God invites us to cast our cares on Him and to trust Him with our health, our relationships and our finances.
A central truth to hold onto in times when fear, anxiety or confusion press in is to remember the Lord. When we forget who He is and that He is with us, fear grows. When we remember Him, fear loses its hold. As David said, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death I will fear no evil for You are with me. That remembering is the cure for fear. The enemy often tries to use fear because fear works against faith. The two cannot rule the heart at the same time. Where faith is strong and confidence in God is alive, fear must leave. Where fear is allowed to take over, faith is pushed aside. For that reason, fear can push us into wrong decisions and wrong actions if we follow it.
This does not mean we ignore wisdom. We are to do what is wise and prudent in caring for our homes and bodies, but not out of dread of what the enemy might do. Our confidence is not in hiding away but in knowing that if God is for us, no one can stand against us. He is able to protect you whether you feel strong or vulnerable, and He has promised to give His angels charge over His people to guard them.
There is another kind of fear that Scripture calls blessed, and it is very different from the spirit of fear you mentioned. The fear of the Lord is not a cowering dread, but a reverent awe at who God is in His greatness, power and holiness. It is the beginning of wisdom and the foundation of true knowledge. To fear the Lord is to love what He loves and to hate what He hates, to turn away from evil and to walk in His ways. When a family chooses that path, when it seeks to live by what God says to do and to turn from what He says not to do, it builds itself up. His instructions for the family are given to strengthen and protect relationships, not to harm them.
You also asked for His order over your health. God is the healer, and all healing comes from Him, whether it comes in an instant or through a gradual process He has built into our bodies. We can trust Him with our bodies while we also seek wise care, praying with faith and leaving the outcome in His loving hands.
May the Lord help you to keep your heart fixed on Him today. When anxious thoughts arise, turn them into remembrance of His presence, His promises and His power.
Let us pray together. Heavenly Father, in the name of Jesus we bring this family before You. Thank You that You are with them and that You are their helper. We ask You to cover their home, their minds and their bodies with Your peace and protection. Replace every spirit of fear, anxiety and confusion with faith and a sound mind, and help them to remember You in every moment. Teach them the reverent fear of You that is the beginning of wisdom, so they may hate evil and choose Your ways. Establish Your order and Your love in their health, their relationships and their finances. Guard them from physical and spiritual harm and let Your will be done in their lives. We trust them into Your faithful hands, in Jesus name, Amen.
