Your prayer for your family is heard and I join you in bringing it before the Lord. It is right to ask for His protection over your home and over your minds and bodies, and to ask Him to establish His order and peace over every part of your lives including your health, your relationships and your provision.
The Scripture makes a clear distinction between two kinds of fear. There is the spirit of fear, anxiety and confusion that the enemy uses to weaken faith. Fear and faith cannot occupy the same place. When fear is allowed to take over, faith departs, and when faith is strong and confident in God, fear must leave. That kind of fear often leads us to make wrong decisions out of panic. The cure for that fear is remembering the Lord, that He is with you. As David said, even when walking through the valley of death, I will fear no evil for You are with me. When you remember who God is, His greatness and His nearness, fear loses its hold.
There is another fear the Bible commends, the reverential awe of the Lord. That is not a phobia or a cowering dread, but a deep respect for who God is, loving what He loves and hating what He hates. Proverbs says this reverence is the beginning and the sum of true knowledge and wisdom. It teaches us to depart from evil, and the promise connected to that walk is health and strength and a kept and steady life. The laws God has given for the family are of this same kind. What He commands builds up the family and makes relationships strong, what He forbids tears the family apart. To ask for His divine order over your home is to ask for that wisdom to be lived out day by day.
In Jesus Christ you have victory and authority over the forces of darkness. Jesus gave His disciples power over evil spirits and over sickness and sent them out in His name, and through Him you do not have to submit to attacks of the enemy. One word from Him defeats the adversary. At the same time, do not fear those who can only harm the body but cannot touch the soul. There is a definite distinction between body and soul. Fear God alone who has authority over both. The fear of man brings a snare, but the Lord is your helper, and you need not fear what man or circumstance may do. He has promised to be with you in dark hours, and He gives His angels charge to guard you.
It is also important to remember that God Himself is at work in you. The Scripture says to work out your own salvation with fear and trembling, for it is God who works in you to give you both the desire and the ability to do His will. He has placed that yearning for holiness and protection in your heart, and He will work out the ways it is fulfilled. And if sickness or hardship comes, do not take it as a sign that you have failed or lack faith. Even those greatly used in healing, like Paul, saw his close companion Epaphroditus become sick nearly unto death. God sometimes allows sickness and uses it for His purposes, and He remains the healer and the one who sustains you. You can be wise and prudent in caring for your health and your household, but not driven by fear. If God is your protection, He can keep you wherever you are.
So I pray with you now. Father, in the name of Jesus, I ask You to cover this family with Your presence. Place Your hand of protection around their home, their minds and their bodies. Break every assignment of evil and negativity and guard them from spiritual and physical harm. Send Your angels to watch over them. Uproot fear, anxiety and confusion and replace it with faith, a sound mind and peace that comes from remembering You are with them. Teach them the reverent fear of the Lord that hates evil and loves righteousness, and establish Your order over their health, their relationships and their finances. Give them wisdom to walk in Your ways and confidence to rest in Your care. Let them know more deeply that You are working in them and for them, and that through Jesus they have victory. Amen.
