Prayer for family and finance

Disciple of Prayer
Recently my family has been going through a wave of attacks, first last week my parents fought to the point of even divorce looking like an option, and after peace reigned, there are multitudes of bills that came recently, too much to handle, and it even goes as far as possible arrest, please note, there is nothing illegal going on, l am in discouraged brethren, please pray for us

We hear the heaviness in your request and we are standing with you and your family before the throne of grace together in Jesus' name. We understand how discouraging it is when one wave of trouble follows another, first strife in the home and then the pressure of many bills and even the fear of arrest when you have done nothing illegal. We want you to know that God sees your family, He hears your cry, and He is near to those who are discouraged.

We want to speak first about your parents' marriage. We believe with all our hearts in the sanctity of marriage as a lifelong covenant between a man and a woman before God. Scripture is very clear that what God has joined together, let no man separate, Mark 10:9, and that God hates divorce, Malachi 2:16. The enemy seeks to steal, kill and destroy, and one of his primary targets is the family, for our wrestling is not against flesh and blood, but against the principalities and powers of darkness, Ephesians 6:12. We rebuke that spirit of division and strife that sought to bring your parents to the point of divorce, and we pray for complete reconciliation and restoration. We encourage them to not let the sun go down on their anger, Ephesians 4:27, but to forgive as Christ forgave us, Colossians 3:13, and to seek godly counsel together, perhaps with a pastor or mature believers, so that peace which has now returned may be guarded and strengthened. A godly marriage that honors Him is worth fighting for, and we pray that their union will become a testimony of His redeeming grace.

We also lift up the financial burden that now feels too much to handle. We know the anxiety that comes when bills multiply and threats come, even unjustly. We are reminded to cast all our anxiety on Him, because He cares for us, 1 Peter 5:7, and to be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and petition with thanksgiving, let our requests be made known to God, and the peace of God which surpasses all understanding will guard our hearts and thoughts in Christ Jesus, Philippians 4:6-7. Our God has promised that He will supply every need of ours according to His riches in glory in Christ Jesus, Philippians 4:19, and to seek first His Kingdom and His righteousness and all these things will be given to us as well, Matthew 6:33. We encourage you to bring every bill and every fear honestly before Him, to be diligent and honest stewards, to seek wise counsel for managing what you have, to communicate openly with those to whom you owe, and if there are threats of arrest, to seek trustworthy legal counsel so that truth may be clearly shown. Even when we do what is right, we may face false accusations, but God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble, Psalm 46:1, and if God is for us, who can be against us, Romans 8:31. We pray that He will make a way where there seems to be no way and that He will work all things together for good for those who love Him and are called according to His purpose, Romans 8:28.

We noticed that your request did not mention the name of Jesus Christ, and we want to gently and lovingly remind you that it is only through Him that we have access to the Father. Jesus said, I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me, John 14:6, and there is salvation in none other, for neither is there any other name under heaven, that is given among men, by which we must be saved, Acts 4:12. If we confess with our mouth that Jesus is Lord, and believe in our heart that God raised Him from the dead, we will be saved, Romans 10:9. It is by His blood that we can boldly bring every family struggle and financial fear to God, and it is in His name that our prayers are heard. If you have not already, we encourage you to put your complete trust in Jesus as Lord and Savior, and to call upon His name daily for mercy and help.

We pray together now for you.

Father, in the name of Jesus Christ we come before You together and lift up this dear family to You. We thank You that You are close to the brokenhearted and You save those who are crushed in spirit, Psalm 34:18. Lord, we ask You to place Your hand of protection and unity over this home. Heal any wound left by harsh words, soften hearts toward one another, and teach them to love and forgive as You have loved us. Let no division remain, and let their marriage be strengthened to reflect Your covenant love. Lord, we bring every bill and financial need before You. You know the exact amount needed and the fears about possible arrest. We ask for Your supernatural provision, for wisdom to steward well, for favor with creditors and authorities, and for the truth to be made clear so that no unjust action will prevail. Replace discouragement with hope, and fear with Your perfect peace. Remind them that You will never leave them nor forsake them, Deuteronomy 31:6, and that when they are weak You are strong, Isaiah 41:10. We rebuke the spirit of discouragement and oppression and we ask You to let Your joy and peace reign in this home. We ask all of this in the mighty and saving name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and our only hope, amen.

We encourage you to keep seeking Him daily in prayer and in His Word, to stay in fellowship with other believers who can support you, and to keep trusting that God is faithful even in this wave of attacks. He who began a good work in you will perfect it until the day of Jesus Christ, Philippians 1:6. We are continuing to pray with you.

We hear how heavy these past weeks have been, watching your parents come close to divorce and then facing a flood of bills that now feels threatening. It makes sense you feel discouraged when one hard thing follows another so quickly.

We are praying for peace to hold in your parents' home and for wisdom for all of you as you sort through the financial pressure. When bills pile up and there is talk of arrest even though you have done nothing illegal, fear grows fast, and it helps to get clear, calm guidance alongside prayer.

If you have not already, we encourage you to sit down soon with a trusted pastor or mature believer who knows your family and a reputable financial counselor or legal aid service in your area who can look at the paperwork with you and explain what is actually owed, what options exist, and what steps to take next. You do not have to carry the details alone or try to figure out every notice by yourself, and having another set of eyes often brings down the anxiety.

We also want you to know discouragement in a wave like this is understandable. You are not failing your family by feeling it.

Father, we bring this family before You in Jesus' name. Cover this home with Your peace, guard the marriage of these parents, and give them wisdom, provision and steady help as they face each bill and concern. Remind them they are not alone and guide them to the right people who can help. Amen.

There is a time when afflictions do not come alone, but like waves upon the shore, one after another, till the soul is well nigh overwhelmed. Your letter tells of such a season, first a storm within the home where those who are joined together were shaken to the point of parting, and then, when peace returned, another storm in temporal matters, with bills multiplying and the fear of arrest hanging over you, though you declare there is nothing of wrongdoing in the matter. To be discouraged in such a case is not strange, for the flesh is weak and the spirit is often cast down under the weight of these things.

Be assured that you are not forgotten before the Lord. What you describe is that conflict of which the Scripture speaks, where as the soul comes to God, the enemy would throw it down and tear it. Satan loves to thin the family of God if he can, and to bring distress upon the household, that he may drive you to despair. Yet it is written, He is able to save to the uttermost them that come unto God by Him, and whosoever cometh He will in no wise cast out. Your discouragement itself may be the very proof that there are two principles within you contending, the flesh and the Spirit, and this conflict shall continue till the Lord gives deliverance. It is not a sign that you are forsaken, but that the Lord has not left you to sleep in sin without struggle.

Concerning your parents, let us pray that the covenant of marriage may be honoured as God ordained it, a lifelong bond between one man and one woman, not to be put asunder lightly. The Lord hates the breaking of that bond, and His grace is able to restore peace where strife has reigned. When Jacob saw his household in disorder, he said, Let us arise and go up to Bethel, and there he called his family to put away strange gods and to seek the Lord. So would I urge that in your household there be a reformation, a turning again to family prayer. Family prayer is the nutriment of family piety, and woe to the house where it ceases. Gather together, though your number be small, and cry unto Him who has entered into covenant to preserve His people. He and his family entered into the ark and were saved, not by their own strength, but by the covenant faithfulness of God. He will yet be the shelter of your house if you seek Him.

For your temporal trials, remember there is no conflict between the sovereignty of God and His goodness. He may do as He wills, yet it is absolutely certain that He will always act in the way of goodness and love toward His children. If you are resting upon the Rock of Ages, you are saved, and all things are yours, not because you have earned them, but because you are Christ's and Christ is God's. He who feeds the sparrows and clothes the lilies knows what bills press upon you and what fear of restraint troubles you. He has not brought you thus far to forsake you now. Cast your burden upon the Lord, and He shall sustain you.

Let us pray together.

O Lord our God, Thou hast seen this family and its manifold troubles. Thou knowest the strife that has wounded the hearts of husband and wife, and how the adversary would divide what Thou hast joined. We entreat Thee to speak peace in that home. Subdue anger, grant tender hearts, teach forgiveness, and knit them together again in love that they may keep their vows before Thee till death shall part them. Let no root of bitterness spring up to defile them, but let Thy Spirit rule as Lord in that house.

And for these debts and fears which now press heavily, we ask Thy gracious provision. Thou knowest that there is no guilt of wrongdoing, yet the shadow of trouble is very dark. Provide what is needful, open doors of honest supply, give wisdom to those who must order their affairs, and deliver them from all unjust oppression. Lift up this discouraged one, and let him hear Thy voice saying, Fear not, for I am with thee. Strengthen faith where it is weak, and let prayer be maintained morning and evening in that household, that all may know Thou art God in the midst of them.

We ask this not because we are worthy, but for the sake of Jesus Christ our Lord, who has promised that whatsoever we ask in His name, He will do it, that the Father may be glorified in the Son. Amen.

Take courage and continue in prayer. Watch unto prayer in private and with your family, and look for the Lord's hand to appear for you. He who has begun a good work will not leave it unfinished.
