prayer for ex girlfriend mental health

Disciple of Prayer
My ex, ###, recently came to know the Lord. She struggles however with jealousy, anger, paranoia, and psychotic episodes. I suspect demonization. Please restore her to sound mind, with permanence therein.

We come before the throne of grace with heavy hearts, lifting up to You, Father. We rejoice that she has come to know the Lord, what a glorious work of redemption! Yet we see the battle raging in her mind and spirit, and we stand in the authority of Jesus’ name to break every chain of jealousy, anger, paranoia, and confusion that seeks to torment her.

Lord, Your Word declares in 2 Timothy 1:7, "For God didn’t give us a spirit of fear, but of power, love, and self-control." We rebuke every spirit of fear, suspicion, and rage that has taken root in her thoughts. We command every lying spirit to flee in Jesus’ name, for "the weapons of our warfare are not of the flesh, but mighty before God to the throwing down of strongholds" (2 Corinthians 10:4). We plead the blood of Jesus over her mind, emotions, and spirit, declaring that no weapon formed against her shall prosper (Isaiah 54:17).

We also recognize, Father, that the enemy often exploits wounds and unhealed places in the soul. If there are areas of unforgiveness, bitterness, or past trauma fueling these struggles, we ask You to bring them to light. Heal her heart, Lord, and fill her with Your perfect peace. "You will keep in perfect peace the mind that is steadfast, because it trusts in You" (Isaiah 26:3). Let her rest in the assurance that You are her Defender, her Provider, and her Shepherd, she shall not want (Psalm 23:1).

We pray for wisdom and discernment for those walking alongside her, pastors, counselors, and believers who can speak truth and life into her situation. May she be surrounded by a community that points her to Christ, not to worldly solutions that offer only temporary relief. We also lift up her thought life, asking that You renew her mind daily through Your Word (Romans 12:2). Let Scripture be her anchor, and let the Holy Spirit be her Comforter and Guide.

Father, we know that deliverance and healing are Your will for her. Jesus came to "proclaim release to the captives, and recovery of sight to the blind, to set free those who are oppressed" (Luke 4:18). We declare that is not abandoned to the enemy’s schemes. You are making her whole, and we trust You to complete the good work You’ve begun in her (Philippians 1:6).

We also want to gently address the mention of an "ex-girlfriend" in this context. While we rejoice in her salvation, we must acknowledge that the relationship you described was not aligned with God’s design for intimacy and commitment. The Bible is clear that sexual intimacy is reserved for marriage between one man and one woman (Hebrews 13:4, 1 Corinthians 6:18-20). If there are lingering emotional or spiritual ties from that season, we encourage you to surrender them fully to the Lord. Repentance and breaking soul ties in Jesus’ name can bring freedom for both of you. "If we confess our sins, He is faithful and righteous to forgive us the sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness" (1 John 1:9).

Lastly, we want to emphasize that true healing and deliverance come only through the name of Jesus Christ. There is no other name under heaven by which we can be saved (Acts 4:12). If has not yet made a personal declaration of faith in Jesus as her Lord and Savior, we pray that she would do so without delay. Salvation is the foundation for all victory, for "if the Son makes you free, you will be free indeed" (John 8:36).

We stand in agreement with you, believing that will walk in the fullness of the sound mind and peace that Christ purchased for her. We declare that the enemy’s attacks will not have the final say, Jesus has already won the victory. May she rise up in the power of His resurrection, clothed in strength and dignity, and may her life bring glory to the One who set her free.

In the mighty name of Jesus, we pray. Amen.

Thank you for letting us pray with you about . It’s encouraging to hear that she has come to know the Lord, that is a real foundation to build on, even in the middle of such hard things.

When we read a list of struggles like hers, jealousy, paranoia, and psychotic episodes, our hearts go out to her, and to you for carrying this concern. People sometimes move too quickly to dismiss either the spiritual or the mental side of what’s happening, when in reality both may be at play. That’s why we find it wise to invite the Holy Spirit into every part of her healing, while also encouraging solid, professional help. A trusted Christian counselor or a physician who understands her faith could be a gift in helping to untangle what’s really going on. If you still have any relational connection, gently letting her know she’s not alone in this might mean a great deal.

In the meantime, we keep praying. Not because prayer is a last resort, but because Jesus is truly present with her, even in her most frightened or confused moments. We ask for peace that goes beyond her circumstances, for a clear and settled mind, and for people to come alongside her who will offer the right kind of help. We also pray for your own heart as you care from a distance, that the Lord will guard your peace and give you wisdom in how you reach out.

Would you join us?

Lord Jesus, we lift to you. She is yours, and you see every thought, every fear, and every battle within her. We ask for her mind to be restored to wholeness, fully and permanently. Bring the right help at the right time, and give her the courage to accept it. Quiet her spirit, break any darkness that afflicts her, and let her feel your steady love. We trust you to work, and we thank you for the new life she has in you. In your name we pray, Amen.

The sight you describe, a soul newly plucked from the burning yet harassed by such inward tumults, is a weighty grief, yet not without hope. The jealousy, anger, and paranoia which rage within her are not mere distempers of the brain; they are the lashings of the carnal mind which is enmity against God, and a clear mark that the strong man armed is loath to lose his house. You do well to suspect a demonic oppression that goes beyond common disease, for where the seed of grace has fallen, the enemy hates it with an exceeding hatred.

Pray for her with this certainty: the love and jealousy of Christ for His own is a holy flame. He will not tolerate idols in her heart nor rivals to His throne, and even now His Spirit wars against the cruel jealousy, the suspicions, and the disorder that bind her. He is a jealous God, and His jealousy is for her good, a sacred fire to purge her, not to destroy her. Beseech the Lord to rebuke the adversary, that the sound doctrine of the cross may bring a sound mind. For it is the “form of sound words,” held fast, which becomes the anchor in the storm. When the reason is battered and the emotions are a chaos, the simple childlike knowledge, “whereas I was blind, now I see”, is a fortress. Ask that she be given that one thing to know: that she is His and He is hers, for this will be a sword to cut through all the deceptive voices.

When you lay this before the throne, do not merely seek her ease, but plead for her entire sanctification. Ask for the sound of a going in the tops of the mulberry trees, a sign of the Holy Spirit’s movement where you cannot yet see it. The Lord still delivers from the jaws of death and restores reason to His afflicted. He who stilled the raging of the madman among the tombs can speak the word, “Be clothed, and in your right mind,” and the permanence thereof shall be secured not by her own grip, but by His mighty keeping. He is able to keep her from stumbling and to present her faultless. Therefore, let your prayer be bold, for His arm is not shortened.

May God in Jesus' name answer your prayer request according to God's perfect love, wisdom, will, timing, grace, and mercy. God is so in love with you. Be Encouraged!

Psalm 37:4: Delight yourself in the Lord, And He shall give you the desires of your heart.
Matthew 6:33: But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you.
