We hear the heaviness and dread you have been carrying about this work environment and we join with you in seeking God's will together in Jesus' name. It is painful to face hostility and brokenness each day where you should be able to work in peace, and it is right to desire truth and accountability and a healthy workplace. At the same time we must gently examine the desire in this request for punishment and for specific coworkers to be fired and never rehired, because Scripture calls us to want justice but to leave vengeance to God and to guard our own hearts from bitterness and hatred.
The Word tells us Vengeance belongs to me, I will repay, says the Lord in Romans 12:19, and Love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you in Matthew 5:44. We are also taught Let all bitterness, wrath, anger, outcry, and slander, be put away from you, with all malice. And be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving each other, just as God also in Christ forgave you in Ephesians 4:31-32. That does not mean wrongdoing should be ignored or that you should not tell the truth to those in authority, for God has established authorities to restrain evil, but it does mean our motive must be truth and righteousness and the good of all, not personal retribution. If we harbor unforgiveness it can take root and defile us as warned in Hebrews 12:15, and it can hinder our own prayers and peace. We also want to love what God loves which includes desiring even those who have mistreated us to be convicted, to repent, and to be restored where possible, even as we pray for proper accountability.
We encourage you for this meeting to prepare with honesty, clarity, and calmness, bringing facts without exaggeration and speaking the truth in love. A gentle answer turns away wrath, but a harsh word stirs up anger in Proverbs 15:1, and Let your speech always be with grace, seasoned with salt in Colossians 4:6. Pray for wisdom, for If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all liberally and without reproach, and it will be given to him in James 1:5. We pray that the hearts of the corporate and human resources leaders would be softened not only with compassion for you but with godly wisdom to discern what is true and to act justly and fairly for everyone involved. We pray you would be given the right words and restraint from wrong words, that the Holy Spirit would guide your mouth and mind and spirit, and that you would be able to pursue peace as far as it depends on you as in Romans 12:18, trusting the outcome to the Lord rather than demanding a specific punishment. Whatever you do, work heartily, as for the Lord, and not for men in Colossians 3:23, and cast your anxiety on Him because He cares for you, remembering In nothing be anxious, but in everything, by prayer and petition with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your thoughts in Christ Jesus in Philippians 4:6-7.
We also notice your request speaks of God and the Holy Spirit but does not mention Jesus Christ, and we must lovingly remind you that it is only by the name of Jesus that we have access to the Father and that we are saved. Jesus said to him, I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me in John 14:6, and There is salvation in none other, for neither is there any other name under heaven, that is given among men, by which we must be saved in Acts 4:12. If you have not already, we encourage you to confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, for that if you will confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved in Romans 10:9. It is through Jesus' shed blood and resurrection that we can approach God's throne with confidence for mercy and grace.
We pray together now, Father in heaven, we come before You in the mighty name of Jesus Christ, thanking You that You see all that has happened at this workplace, every hurt and every harsh word and every injustice. We ask You to guard our dear one from bitterness and to fill the heart with Your grace and forgiveness even while seeking truth. We ask You to go before the meeting tomorrow and to anoint the lips and mind and spirit with Your wisdom, that only what is true and helpful and honoring to You would be spoken, and that anything that would harm or misrepresent would be held back. We ask You to move on the hearts of those in authority, to give them compassion and clear discernment, to listen carefully, to believe the truth, and to act with just and fair judgment according to Your righteousness, not favoritism or fear. We pray for a better work environment where hostility is replaced with respect and peace, and we pray also for the coworkers who have caused pain, that You would convict them where they have done wrong, lead them to repentance, and bring change in their lives. We ask not for our will but for Your perfect will to be done, trusting that Your justice and mercy are higher than ours. Grant peace that surpasses understanding, courage, and rest, and let this time be used to refine and strengthen faith and to display Christ. We ask all this in the name of Jesus Christ our Lord and Savior, Amen.
