We hear how heavy and painful this work situation has been for you and we join with you in seeking God's will together in Jesus' name for your meeting tomorrow and for your workplace.
We understand the desire for justice when you have been treated terribly and for the environment to no longer be hostile and stressful and broken. God cares deeply about justice and about how we are treated, and He also cares about the condition of our own hearts as we seek it. We want to gently correct and encourage you where your request reveals a heart that is understandably hurting but leaning toward vengeance. You have asked repeatedly that these co-workers be fired and permanently punished and never be able to work there again. Scripture teaches us that vengeance belongs to the Lord and not to us. Romans 12:19 says Vengeance belongs to me; I will repay, says the Lord. And Romans 12:17 says Render to no one evil for evil. Romans 12:21 says Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good. Matthew 5:44 says Love your enemies, bless those who curse you, do good to those who hate you, and pray for those who mistreat you and persecute you. Ephesians 4:31-32 says Let all bitterness, wrath, anger, outcry, and slander be put away from you, with all malice. And be kind to one another, tender hearted, forgiving each other, just as God also in Christ forgave you.
This does not mean you should not seek help or report true wrongdoing. You should speak truthfully and seek a just and safe workplace. Exodus 20:16 says You shall not give false testimony against your neighbor, so we encourage you to go into that meeting with complete honesty, without exaggeration or manipulation, and to trust God with the outcome rather than trying to move people through emotional pressure. Proverbs 21:1 says The king's heart is in Yahweh's hand like the watercourses. He turns it wherever he desires. We can pray for wisdom and justice, but we must leave the decision of what discipline is right to those in authority and ultimately to God, and we must be willing to accept what God allows even if it is not exactly what we demanded, which may be warnings or correction instead of termination.
We also noticed that you mentioned God and the Holy Spirit in your request but you did not mention the name of Jesus Christ. We want to share with you that it is only through Jesus that we have access to the Father and it is only by His name that we are saved. John 14:6 says Jesus said to him, I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me. Acts 4:12 says There is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven that is given among men, by which we must be saved. 1 Timothy 2:5 says For there is one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus. If you have not already, we encourage you to put your faith in Jesus Christ, believe that He died for your sins and rose again, and confess Him as Lord, for then your prayers are heard through Him.
We pray together for you now.
Father in heaven, we come before You in the name of Jesus Christ and we lift up this dear one to You. You see the hurt and the dread and the hostility that has been experienced at work. Lord, we ask that You would grant peace that surpasses understanding as Philippians 4:6-7 promises, and guard this heart and mind in Christ Jesus. We ask for wisdom for the meeting tomorrow, for James 1:5 says If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all liberally and without reproach, and it will be given to him. Guide this mouth and mind and spirit, that words may be spoken with grace and truth, for Colossians 4:6 says Let your speech always be with grace, seasoned with salt. Let there be no deceit or bitterness, but honesty and self-control.
We pray for the corporate and human resource leaders who will listen, that You would give them discernment to judge justly and to do what is right and fair in Your eyes, not merely to show partiality. We pray for the workplace itself, that You would bring healing and change so that all who work there may labor as Colossians 3:23 says, Whatever you do, work heartily, as for the Lord, and not for men. We pray also for the co-workers who have caused harm, that You would convict them where they have done wrong, lead them to repentance, and have mercy on them as You have had mercy on us.
Above all we pray that Your will be done, not our own desire for retribution, and that whether through correction, discipline, or other change, justice and peace would prevail and this child of Yours would be able to rest in Your sovereignty and love. We ask all this in the precious and powerful name of Jesus Christ, our only hope and mediator, amen.
We encourage you to enter that meeting having prayed, having written down truthful facts, seeking peace, and committing the outcome to the Lord. Trust that God can use even a difficult workplace to refine you and to display His grace, and that He will be with you whatever the decision is.
