Prayer for ### drinking and sleep

Animalgirl

Humble Servant of All
Lord please stop ### from drinking and sleeping. It’s distressing for ### and ###. Please get ### to renounce drink and come back to church. Make ### realise ###’s wasting ###’s life.

We come before the Lord with heavy hearts, lifting up this situation with earnest prayer. The struggle with alcohol and the patterns of sleep that follow are not just physical battles—they are spiritual ones as well. Scripture warns us in 1 Peter 5:8, "Be sober and self-controlled; be watchful. Your adversary, the devil, walks around like a roaring lion, seeking whom he may devour." The enemy seeks to steal, kill, and destroy, and excessive drinking is one of his tools to dull the spirit, disrupt godly discipline, and pull someone away from the fellowship of believers.

We rebuke the spirit of addiction and slumber in the mighty name of Jesus Christ. We declare that no weapon formed against this beloved child of God shall prosper, for the Lord is their strength and their deliverer. Ephesians 5:18 commands, "Don’t be drunken with wine, in which is dissipation, but be filled with the Spirit." The Holy Spirit is the only true source of fulfillment, and we pray that this truth pierces through the fog of temptation and despair.

We also lift up the distress of those who love and care for this individual. It is painful to watch someone we love walk in bondage, but we know that God’s heart breaks even more deeply. We pray for wisdom and compassion as they intercede, and we ask the Lord to soften hearts to receive correction and conviction. Proverbs 20:1 tells us, "Wine is a mocker, and beer is a brawler. Whoever is led astray by them is not wise." Yet we also know that God’s grace is greater than any sin, and His mercy is new every morning.

Lord, we ask You to awaken this precious soul to the purpose and calling You have placed on their life. Help them to see that their days are a gift from You, not to be wasted in drunkenness or slumber, but to be lived in joyful obedience to Your will. Draw them back to Your house, where they can find healing, accountability, and the fellowship of believers who will walk alongside them in their journey. We declare that they are not defined by their struggles, but by the blood of Jesus, which cleanses them from all unrighteousness.

We pray for a spirit of repentance to fall upon them, that they would turn away from the things that harm their body, which is the temple of the Holy Spirit. We speak life, restoration, and freedom over them in the name of Jesus. May they experience the peace that surpasses all understanding, the joy of the Lord as their strength, and the power of the Holy Spirit to break every chain.

Father, we also pray for those who may be enabling this behavior, whether knowingly or unknowingly. Give them the courage to speak the truth in love and to set boundaries that reflect Your holiness. Help them to trust in Your power to transform lives, rather than relying on their own efforts.

We stand on Your promise in Joel 2:25-26, "I will restore to you the years that the swarming locust has eaten... You will have plenty to eat, and be satisfied, and will praise the name of Yahweh, your God, who has dealt wondrously with you." Lord, restore the years lost to this struggle, and let this individual rise up in the fullness of who You created them to be. We trust in Your unfailing love and Your power to save. In the precious and powerful name of Jesus Christ, we pray. Amen.

"So do not fear, for I am with you;
do not be dismayed, for I am your God.
I will strengthen you and help you;
I will uphold you with My righteous right Hand"(Isaiah 41:10)

I prayed with you for this, in Jesus' powerful Name, Amen.

Proverbs 3:5-6: "Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight".

We're right there with you, sister, lifting up this burden to the Lord. We know the struggle is real, the enemy's grip can feel so tight, but remember, greater is He who is in us than he who is in the world (1 John 4:4). Let's claim that promise together.

We're asking the Lord to shine His light into the darkness, to break the chains of addiction and slumber. Let's declare freedom over this situation, in Jesus' mighty name. We're believing for a breakthrough, for the strongholds to crumble, and for the spirit of repentance to fall like a gentle rain.

Let's also pray for those who love this person, that they would have wisdom and courage to speak truth and love, setting boundaries that honor God. We're asking the Lord to give them strength and trust in His power to transform lives.

We're standing on His promise in 2 Corinthians 5:17, "Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old has passed away; behold, the new has come." We're believing for a new beginning, for restoration, and for a life fully dedicated to Him.

Let's keep praying, keep believing, and keep trusting in our God who can do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think (Ephesians 3:20). In Jesus' name, we pray. Amen.

Lord, we pray for this prayer and family for blessings healing and salvation. Heal and bless. May their lives be a praise and glory unto thee.
Come to the Lord's holy presence. Seek him with all your heart. Cling to his Word and meditate on it moment by moment by positive thoughts and joy in the heart (James 1:2-4), knowing that the Lord is good and to him be all the praise. Seek first God's kingdom and his righteousness (Matthew 6:33). Even though life may feel hard, the Lord's hand will be on you, and he will answer in his time. I am praying for you. Amen.
