Prayer for divorce

Anonymous

Beloved of All
Please pray for me to divorce the husband in the spirit or anything that might be possibly using my living status to be exalting or exploiting itself that include me in anyways in Jesus Name

We hear your cry for deliverance and understand the depth of pain that leads you to seek divorce, even in the spirit. First, we must address the foundation of your request, you invoke the name of Jesus, and it is only through Him that we have access to the Father. There is no other name under heaven by which we may be saved (Acts 4:12). We pray that you know Him not just as a name but as your Lord and Savior, the One who bore your sins on the cross and offers you new life. If you have not already, we urge you to confess your sins, repent, and surrender your life fully to Christ, for He alone can bring true healing and restoration.

Now, let us turn to your marriage. The Bible is clear that marriage is a sacred covenant, designed by God to reflect the relationship between Christ and His Church (Ephesians 5:22-33). Divorce is not God’s desire, for He hates it (Malachi 2:16). However, we also know that sin has broken many things in this world, including marriages. If your husband is exploiting or exalting himself in ways that bring harm to you, whether spiritually, emotionally, or physically, we must rebuke that in the name of Jesus. The enemy seeks to destroy what God has joined together (John 10:10), but we stand against that destruction in the authority of Christ.

We must also examine your heart. Are you seeking divorce because of unrepentant sin in your husband, such as adultery, abandonment, or abuse? Scripture allows for divorce in cases of sexual immorality (Matthew 19:9) or abandonment by an unbelieving spouse (1 Corinthians 7:15). However, if the issues are rooted in pride, selfishness, or unmet expectations, we must encourage you to pursue reconciliation, forgiveness, and godly counsel. Have you sought wise, biblical counsel from your pastor or a trusted Christian mentor? Proverbs 11:14 tells us, "Where there is no counsel, the people fall; but in the multitude of counselors there is safety."

We also rebuke any spiritual forces that may be at work in your marriage. The enemy often attacks marriages to undermine God’s design for family and His glory. We stand against any spirit of division, strife, or exploitation in the name of Jesus. Ephesians 6:12 reminds us, "For our wrestling is not against flesh and blood, but against the principalities, against the powers, against the world’s rulers of the darkness of this age, and against the spiritual forces of wickedness in the heavenly places." We pray that any spiritual bondage in your marriage be broken, and that God’s light would expose and dismantle every scheme of the enemy.

Let us pray together:

Heavenly Father, we come before You in the mighty name of Jesus, the name above every name. Lord, we lift up this marriage to You, asking that You would reveal Your will and Your heart for this union. Father, if there is sin in this marriage, whether in this husband or wife, we ask that You would convict, bring repentance, and restore what has been broken. If there is exploitation, pride, or selfishness, we rebuke it in Jesus’ name and command it to leave. Lord, we declare that no weapon formed against this marriage shall prosper (Isaiah 54:17), and we bind every spirit of division, strife, and destruction.

Father, we ask that You would heal the wounds in this marriage. Pour out Your love, grace, and mercy upon both this husband and wife. Soften their hearts toward one another and toward You. If there is unforgiveness, bitterness, or resentment, we ask that You would uproot it and replace it with Your peace. Help them to see one another through Your eyes, Lord, and to love one another as You have loved them (John 13:34).

If this marriage is beyond repair due to unrepentant sin, we ask that You would guide this wife in wisdom and discernment. Give her the strength to walk in obedience to Your Word, whether that means separation for a time or, in extreme cases, divorce. But Lord, we pray that You would first work a miracle of restoration. Do what only You can do, Father, and bring beauty from ashes (Isaiah 61:3).

Above all, Lord, we pray that You would be glorified in this situation. May this wife grow closer to You through this trial, and may she trust in Your sovereignty. Remind her that You are her refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble (Psalm 46:1). Surround her with godly community, and provide her with the support and encouragement she needs.

We thank You, Father, for hearing our prayer. We trust in Your goodness and Your perfect plan for this marriage. May Your will be done, and may Your name be exalted. In Jesus’ name we pray, Amen.

If you are considering divorce, we urge you to seek godly counsel and to exhaust every avenue for reconciliation before making such a weighty decision. Remember, God is able to do immeasurably more than we ask or imagine (Ephesians 3:20). Do not lose hope, for with God, all things are possible (Matthew 19:26). If your husband is a believer, we encourage you to pursue restoration, for the Bible tells us that a believing husband and wife should not separate (1 Corinthians 7:10-11). If he is an unbeliever, pray for his salvation and trust God to work in his heart.

Lastly, we encourage you to immerse yourself in God’s Word and in prayer. Spend time in His presence, seeking His face and His will for your life. Psalm 34:18 tells us, "The Lord is near to those who have a broken heart, and saves those who have a contrite spirit." You are not alone, and God sees your pain. Trust in Him, and He will direct your paths (Proverbs 3:5-6).

We can hear how heavy and tangled this feels for you right now, like something unseen is weighing on your life and your identity in ways that are hard to name but deeply real. When the battle feels spiritual, it can be isolating and disorienting, and we want you to know you are not left to navigate this alone.

A grounded insight that often helps when the spiritual realm feels so thick is this: Christ’s authority over your life is not fragile, and it doesn’t need to be constantly re-won. As you turn your heart toward Him, entrusting yourself in simple honesty, the grip of anything that does not belong to Him already begins to loosen, not because you found exactly the right words, but because He is faithful. Sometimes the most powerful spiritual work happens quietly, in the steadiness of asking Him day by day to be your refuge and your clarity, rather than pursuing a single breakthrough moment.

We would gently encourage you not to carry this entirely by yourself. Consider reaching out to a mature, trusted pastor or an experienced prayer minister in your area who can sit with you, listen with discernment, and pray alongside you in person. That kind of grounded, face-to-face support is a gift when the terrain feels confusing.

Lord Jesus, you see this daughter and the weight she is carrying. We ask for your wisdom to cut through confusion, your peace to guard her mind, and your protection over her spirit. Silence whatever seeks to exploit or harass her, and give her your steady light for the next small step. Be her shelter and her clarity, we pray. Amen.

Lord Jesus please richly bless, protect and guide them. Please help them in accordance with your perfect will Father. Thank you and praise you. In your holy name I pray. Amen.

The wife gives to her husband her whole self, let us give to our loving God our whole spirit, soul and body! Be it our prayer that there may not be an unconsecrated hair upon our heads, not a single heaving of the lungs, nor a circulation of the blood, but what in the whole shall be acknowledged. He has been a Husband unto us. He has never thought of divorce. Is it not written that "He hates putting away"?

Deliverance from the power of sin is as much the work of God as deliverance from the guilt of sin! Where we look for justification, there must we also look for sanctification, for as we are justified through Jesus Christ, we must also expect to receive sanctification from a heavenly source. We cannot receive the one blessing through the spirit and the other through the flesh. We would infer from the text, speaking doctrinally, that in order to our sanctification and our deliverance from the power of sin, we must look to our heavenly Father, altogether and alone.

There is a dark thought which makes the ocean boil to its very bottom; it stirs the soul up until there is not one place in which there is rest; neither a cavern of the heart, nor a corner of the conscience in which the spirit has peace. But this deliverance came when the lamb was slain. A chastened spirit is a gracious spirit, and how shall we obtain it unless we are chastened? Like our Lord Jesus, we learn obedience by the things which we suffer!

The slavery of sin takes away manliness and courage from the spirit, and where bright hope smiles upon us, we answer her with the sullen silence of despair! Yet deliverance is of the Lord but it must be accomplished by human instrumentality. I would that some burning spirits would come among us and speak even bitterly to us, if they could but make us feel that life is real, life is earnest, and that the cause of Christ demands that spirit, soul and body should be at the highest tension, at the very sternest stretch, spending and being spent.

With my whole soul I praise delivering Grace. To the Lord God, the God of Israel, I consecrate myself anew! The saints of God, when they are rescued from their sorrows, are sure to sing, "My soul does magnify the Lord, and my spirit has rejoiced in God, my Savior." This done, they make a further dedication of themselves to their delivering God. Jesus thy own brother, thy husband, thy head, thy all, what! he forget? he forsake? Down blaspheming thought! Back to the hell from which thou dost spring! Down! down! down!

May God in Jesus' name answer your prayer request according to God's perfect love, wisdom, will, timing, grace, and mercy. God is so in love with you. Be Encouraged!

Psalm 37:4: Delight yourself in the Lord, And He shall give you the desires of your heart.
Matthew 6:33: But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you.

God be with me as a mighty warrior. Let no weapon formed against me prosper. Protect me from all the plans of my enemies and the plans of the enemy of my soul. God, all that I have asked of You, in this prayer, please do the same for the writer of the prayer, all those who love and care about me, and all those I love and care about. God, please forever honor this prayer over each of our lives. God Thank You. Amen, so be it by faith, and by faith, it is so
