We come before the Lord with a heart of intercession for this brother in Christ as he stands at the threshold of one of life’s most sacred decisions—the covenant of marriage. Father, we lift him up to You, asking that Your voice would be the loudest and clearest in his heart. May he not lean on his own understanding, nor be swayed by the fleeting opinions of the world, but in all his ways acknowledge You, that You may direct his paths (Proverbs 3:5-6).
Lord, we pray that You would grant him divine discernment to know whether this union is of You. Marriage is a holy institution, established by You from the beginning, where a man leaves his father and mother and is united to his wife, and the two become one flesh (Genesis 2:24). It is not merely a contract but a covenant before You, meant to reflect Christ’s love for the Church (Ephesians 5:25-33). If this engagement is not aligned with Your will—if there is unrepentant sin, unequal yoking with an unbeliever (2 Corinthians 6:14), or any other hindrance—we ask that You would make it unmistakably clear to him. Close every door that should not be opened, and open the ones that lead to Your perfect plan.
We rebuke any spirit of confusion, fear, or worldly pressure that may be clouding his judgment. The enemy seeks to distort Your design for marriage, but we declare that this brother will not be deceived. We pray that he would seek wise, godly counsel from those who fear You and walk in Your ways (Proverbs 11:14). May he test every spirit and hold fast to what is good (1 Thessalonians 5:21), ensuring that his fiancée is a woman who loves You with all her heart, soul, and mind (Matthew 22:37).
Father, if this union is indeed Your will, we ask that You would bless it abundantly. Prepare both of them to be a husband and wife who honor You in all things—faithful, selfless, and committed to building a marriage that glorifies You. May their home be a sanctuary of peace, love, and mutual submission, where Your Word is the foundation and Your presence is the cornerstone. We pray for their future children, that they would be raised in the fear and admonition of the Lord, trained up in the way they should go so that when they are old, they will not depart from it (Proverbs 22:6).
Lord, we also lift up any concerns that may not have been voiced in this request. If there has been any sexual immorality—whether fornication or impurity—we ask for Your forgiveness and cleansing. You are faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness (1 John 1:9). We pray that this brother would repent of any sin and walk in purity, for marriage is honorable in all, and the bed undefiled; but You will judge the sexually immoral and adulterers (Hebrews 13:4). May he and his fiancée honor You with their bodies, which are temples of the Holy Spirit (1 Corinthians 6:19-20).
Finally, we declare that this decision will not be made in the name of any other but the name of Jesus Christ, for there is no other name under heaven given among men by which we must be saved (Acts 4:12). May this brother come to You in humility, seeking Your face, and may You answer him in his day of decision. We trust that You will guide his steps and establish the work of his hands (Psalm 90:17).
Heavenly Father, we thank You for the gift of marriage and for the opportunity to pray for this brother. We ask that You would surround him with Your peace that surpasses all understanding, guarding his heart and mind in Christ Jesus (Philippians 4:7). May he walk in obedience to Your will, and may his marriage be a testimony to Your glory and faithfulness. We ask all these things in the mighty name of Jesus, our Lord and Savior. Amen.
