prayer for demonic oppression with uncontrollable laughter

Disciple of Prayer
I just submitted a prayer request for healing of sexual sin, feel like this started around the same time as sin but when I am praying and engaging in efforts to get closer to God, I get demonic laughter ... I want to be rid of this spirit that mocks God's work... it is tied to perverse and vulgar language in my mind

We hear your cry for deliverance, and we stand with you in the authority of Jesus Christ, who has already triumphed over every evil power. The laughter you describe is not of God, it is a demonic mockery, a spirit of scorn that seeks to undermine your repentance and intimacy with the Lord. This oppression is not without cause, and we must address both the root of sin and the spiritual attack it has invited.

First, we rebuke the spirit of perversion and blasphemy in the mighty name of Jesus. The Word declares, "Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you" (James 4:7 WEB). This laughter is a direct assault on your efforts to draw near to God, and we command it to cease now. The enemy has no right to harass you when you are pursuing righteousness, his power is broken by the blood of Christ. "For though we walk in the flesh, we don’t wage war according to the flesh; for the weapons of our warfare are not of the flesh, but mighty before God to the throwing down of strongholds" (2 Corinthians 10:3-4 WEB).

The sexual sin you mentioned is not merely a struggle, it is an open door for demonic influence. Scripture is clear: "Flee sexual immorality! ‘Every sin that a man does is outside the body,’ but he who commits sexual immorality sins against his own body" (1 Corinthians 6:18 WEB). This sin grieves the Holy Spirit and gives the enemy legal ground to torment you. But take heart, repentance breaks every chain. "If we confess our sins, he is faithful and righteous to forgive us the sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness" (1 John 1:9 WEB). We encourage you to renounce this sin completely, not just in behavior but in thought and imagination. Fill your mind with the Word of God, meditating on what is pure, lovely, and honorable (Philippians 4:8).

The vulgar language in your mind is another tactic of the enemy to defile your conscience. We command every unclean spirit influencing your thoughts to be silenced in Jesus’ name. "Let the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart be acceptable in your sight, Yahweh, my rock, and my redeemer" (Psalm 19:14 WEB). Replace those thoughts with Scripture, speak it aloud, declare it over your mind, and refuse to entertain the enemy’s whispers.

Now, let us pray together:

Heavenly Father, we come before You in the name of Jesus Christ, the Name above every name, the only Name by which we are saved and delivered. Lord, we lift up our brother/sister who is under attack. You see the oppression, the mocking laughter, and the perverse thoughts, we ask You to break every chain and set them free. We plead the blood of Jesus over their mind, their heart, and their spirit. We declare that no weapon formed against them will prosper (Isaiah 54:17).

Father, we confess the sin that has given the enemy a foothold. We repent on their behalf and ask for Your forgiveness and cleansing. Wash them with the blood of Jesus, and create in them a clean heart, O God (Psalm 51:10). We renounce every agreement with sexual immorality, perversion, and blasphemy. We break every curse and generational iniquity associated with these sins in the name of Jesus.

Lord, fill them with Your Holy Spirit. Let Your peace guard their mind (Philippians 4:7), and let Your Word be a lamp to their feet (Psalm 119:105). We command every demonic spirit of mockery, perversion, and unclean language to leave now and never return. We declare that they are sealed by the Holy Spirit (Ephesians 1:13) and that no weapon formed against them will prosper.

Father, we ask for a fresh infilling of Your presence. Let them experience Your love, Your holiness, and Your power in a new way. Surround them with believers who will stand with them in prayer and accountability. Strengthen them to resist the devil, and remind them that greater is He who is in them than he who is in the world (1 John 4:4).

We thank You, Lord, for Your faithfulness. We trust in Your promise that if we draw near to You, You will draw near to us (James 4:8). We declare victory over this oppression in the name of Jesus Christ. Amen.

We encourage you to continue in repentance and to seek out mature believers who can pray with you and hold you accountable. Do not isolate yourself, spiritual warfare is best fought in community. Fill your mind with Scripture, worship the Lord, and refuse to give the enemy any ground. You are not fighting alone; the Lord is your strong tower, and He will deliver you (Proverbs 18:10).

If you have not already, consider fasting as a way to humble yourself before God and seek His face more earnestly. Jesus said, "This kind can come out by nothing, except by prayer and fasting" (Mark 9:29 WEB). Even a short fast can break the power of the enemy’s influence.

Lastly, we must emphasize the importance of salvation through Jesus Christ. If you have not already, we urge you to confess Jesus as Lord and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead (Romans 10:9). There is no deliverance, no forgiveness, and no victory outside of Christ. He is the way, the truth, and the life (John 14:6), and it is only through His name that we have access to the Father. If you have not made this commitment, we pray that you would do so today. The enemy’s power is broken when we are covered by the blood of Jesus.

We can hear how heavy this battle feels, the very moment you reach for God, something ugly pushes back with mockery and noise. That kind of intrusion is disorienting and exhausting, and we’re sorry you’re facing it. The enemy often tries to make us feel like our pursuit of God is foolish or hopeless, especially when we’re fighting old patterns of sin, but you are not alone in this.

One thing we have seen help many in similar struggles is to stop focusing on the voice and focus fully on the One you’re reaching toward. When the laughter or vile thoughts flare up during prayer, try not to engage them or argue with them. Instead, speak aloud the name of Jesus and deliberately turn your mind to something simple and true about Him, His mercy, His cleansing, His victory. You don’t need to win a debate with a spirit; you just need to keep your eyes on Christ.

Because this feels specifically oppressive, we strongly encourage you to invite a couple of trusted, mature believers or your pastor into this. Ask them to pray with you directly against this harassment. Sometimes the enemy thrives in isolation, and the presence of other Christians, praying in agreement and using the authority Christ gives His church, can break the intimidation. You might also consider a time of private renunciation: out loud, with another believer present if possible, simply say that you reject any claim the enemy has tried to hold through past sin, and you place yourself under Christ’s lordship alone.

We’re praying with you now: Lord Jesus, thank You that no mocking spirit can stand against Your authority. Bring peace to this dear brother/sister right now. Silence every voice that would mock Your work, and let the gift of Your clean, quiet presence swallow up every vile thought. Surround them with people who will stand with them in prayer until this storm passes. In Your name alone, amen.

To this end also we pray always, that our God will count us worthy of your calling, and fulfill every desire for goodness and the work of faith with power, so that the Name of our Lord Jesus will be glorified in us, and we in Him, according to the grace of our God and the Lord Jesus Christ, 2 Thes 1:11.

This mocking laughter you describe is the very coronation sin gives to those it enslaves. As sin once crowned our Lord with thorns and clothed Him in a purple robe of scorn, so it now crowns you with a tinsel splendor of shame, dressing your mind in perverse and vulgar language to make a spectacle of you. But look well at what sin brings forth, it is death, and this laughter is its hollow chime. When you draw near to God, the evil one mocks His work, even as the soldiers mocked the King, but remember: He stood in your place, bearing that same ridicule, that by His stripes you might be healed. Sin’s bitterness is beyond all description, yet Christ has drained that cup for you.

You are dead to the condemning power of sin, if you are in Christ, no sin can condemn you, for He has rendered a full recompense to Divine Justice. But you must also be dead to the allurements of sin. Let the welts of His scourging take out the lines of your iniquity. When these foul thoughts arise, when this unholy laughter rings in your ears, know that the Spirit of God is grieved. He cannot bear impurity in the objects of His love, and you must not tolerate what He mourns. Search out that sin, give it up, slay it upon the spot with tears and cries to heaven. It is not enough merely to vanquish these intrusions, you must trample the roots of corruption beneath your feet. Your besetting sin is not something to be indulged or excused as helpless; either you must conquer it or it will conquer you, and that is everlasting death.

But here is sweet comfort: the Spirit who is grieved is also your Helper. Pray in the Holy Spirit, that your spirit, quickened by His life, may rise above this torment. Be so sensitive to His breath that the faintest whisper of His peace stills the mocking voice. He looses bonds, He makes free; where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is liberty. Cry out that He would overshadow you, that your prayer might be no mere empty sound, but a true communing of your new-born spirit with the Divine. Do not rest satisfied until He returns with power, silencing every lie and cleansing every dark corner.

And as for the sin that once held you, know that it is gone. If you have trusted in Christ, no sin can ever be laid to your charge again. He has cast it into the depths of the sea. The blood of Jesus Christ, God’s Son, cleanses from all sin. This is grace beyond measure, pardoning sin so black that none can fathom its heinousness, except as you see its punishment laid upon the Substitute. Let that boundless mercy break your heart and fuel your war against every vestige of evil. Go forward, then, looking to the cross, where mocking was met with majestic silence, and sin was slain in the death of the Sin-Bearer. His victory is yours.

May God in Jesus' name answer your prayer request according to God's perfect love, wisdom, will, timing, grace, and mercy. God is so in love with you. Be Encouraged!

Heal Me Lord Jesus Spirit, Soul, And Body

Your laughter during prayer is not a harmless thing, for as I have taught, laughter out of season brings great harm, relaxing the soul when it should be bowed in contrition. This uncontrollable mirth is like the raving of one possessed, a self-chosen madness that makes the mouth a sewer for vulgarity and perverse thoughts. The unclean spirit mocks God’s work by turning your very efforts to draw near into an occasion for derision, but you are not helpless.

Remember that Christ came to heal the soul even more than the body. He touched the leper and made him clean, and no one found fault, for the true leprosy is sin. That same Lord can deliver you from the lion’s mouth, the devil who seeks to devour you. Entrust yourself to Him, and He will deliver you from every evil work, not only from the danger but from the sin itself.

Where sin abounded, grace did much more abound, yet not so that you should continue in sin. Rather, strive against it until blood, resisting the devil, and you will find deliverance. When the mocking laughter rises, answer it not with amusement but with tears. Nothing so wipes away sins as tears shed in prayer. Let your eyes weep, and your soul lament; such tears make even the countenance beautiful before God. Do not give way to shameful language or impure thoughts, for they are the fuel of this oppression. As you turn from them with a broken heart, the enemy’s power will be broken, and the laughter will cease.

Do not despair, but with earnest repentance and sober vigilance, call upon the Lord. He is faithful, and He will not leave you in the jaws of the lion.
