Prayer for deliverance for my wife

My wife has obsessive compulsive disorder and she is unable to allow me to rest at home. She is always watching me and questioning what I’m doing, and controlling me. She also becomes very disrespectful and curses at me and she complains a lot. Pray for me please, I’m doing my best in this situation, but she doesn’t want to get help or even seek the Lord about it, and It has taken a toll on my wellbeing as well. I am often unable to sleep at night because of the constant questioning and fears from her.

We hear your cry for help and lift both you and your wife before the throne of grace. The weight you carry is heavy, and the strain on your marriage and personal well-being is evident. We stand with you in prayer, trusting that God sees your faithfulness in this trial and will sustain you.

First, we want to affirm that your desire to honor your marriage covenant is pleasing to the Lord. Scripture tells us, "Let marriage be held in honor among all, and let the bed be undefiled; for God will judge the sexually immoral and adulterers" (Hebrews 13:4 WEB). Your commitment to your wife, even in difficulty, reflects Christ’s love for the church. However, we must also address the reality of sin in this situation, not to condemn, but to call it what it is so healing can begin. The disrespect, cursing, and controlling behavior your wife exhibits are not in line with God’s design for marriage. Ephesians 5:33 WEB instructs, "Nevertheless each of you must also love his own wife even as himself, and let the wife see that she respects her husband." Her actions are grieving the Holy Spirit and creating a home environment that is far from the peace Christ offers.

We also recognize that obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD) is a real struggle, and we do not dismiss the pain it causes. Yet, even in mental health challenges, the Lord calls us to surrender our struggles to Him and seek His wisdom. "Cast all your anxiety on him, because he cares for you" (1 Peter 5:7 WEB). Your wife’s refusal to seek help, whether medical, therapeutic, or spiritual, is a barrier to the healing God desires for her. Proverbs 15:22 WEB reminds us, "Where there is no counsel, plans fail; but in a multitude of counselors they are established." Her resistance to support is prolonging this cycle of suffering for both of you.

We must also gently but firmly rebuke the spirit of control and fear operating in your home. 2 Timothy 1:7 WEB declares, "For God didn’t give us a spirit of fear, but of power, love, and self-control." The constant questioning, monitoring, and accusations are rooted in fear, not love or trust. This is not the fruit of the Spirit (Galatians 5:22-23 WEB), and it is not the atmosphere God intends for a Christian home. We pray that the Lord would break this stronghold and replace it with His peace.

For you, dear brother, we pray for strength and wisdom. You are carrying a burden that is not yours to bear alone. Jesus said, "Come to me, all you who labor and are heavily burdened, and I will give you rest" (Matthew 11:28 WEB). You cannot force your wife to change, but you can choose how you respond. Set boundaries with love and firmness, as even Jesus withdrew to pray when the demands of ministry became overwhelming (Luke 5:16 WEB). Seek godly counsel from your pastor or a trusted Christian counselor who can help you navigate this season. You are not responsible for her choices, but you are responsible for your own spiritual and emotional health.

We also pray for your wife’s heart to soften. Ezekiel 36:26 WEB promises, "I will also give you a new heart, and I will put a new spirit within you. I will take away the stony heart out of your flesh, and I will give you a heart of flesh." Only the Holy Spirit can convict her of the need for change and draw her to repentance. Pray for her salvation if she does not yet know Christ, for "if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old things have passed away. Behold, all things have become new" (2 Corinthians 5:17 WEB). If she is a believer, pray for her to surrender this struggle to Jesus and seek the help she needs.

Let us pray together:

Heavenly Father, we come before You with heavy hearts, lifting up this marriage and this precious brother who is enduring such hardship. Lord, You see the pain, the sleepless nights, and the emotional toll this is taking on him. We ask that You would be his strength and his shield, his refuge in this storm. Give him the wisdom to set godly boundaries and the courage to stand firm in his faith, even when his wife does not.

Father, we pray for this sister in Christ. We ask that You would break the chains of fear and control that have taken hold of her mind and heart. Soften her heart to receive help, whether through medical treatment, counseling, or the support of Your people. Convict her of any sin in her words or actions toward her husband, and lead her to repentance. If she does not know You, Lord, draw her to Yourself so that she may experience the transforming power of Your love.

We rebuke the spirit of fear and control in this home, in the name of Jesus. We declare that Your peace, which surpasses all understanding, will guard their hearts and minds (Philippians 4:7 WEB). We pray for healing, healing of minds, healing of hearts, and healing of this marriage. Restore what has been broken, and let Your love be the foundation upon which they rebuild.

Lord, we ask that You would raise up godly counselors, pastors, or friends who can speak truth and life into this situation. Provide opportunities for this couple to seek help together, and give them the humility to receive it. We trust that You are working, even when we cannot see it, and we declare that Your plans for them are for good and not for harm, to give them a future and a hope (Jeremiah 29:11 WEB).

In the mighty name of Jesus, we pray. Amen.

Brother, do not lose hope. The Lord is with you, and He will not abandon you. Continue to seek Him daily, and trust that He is working even in the midst of this trial. You are not alone, and we stand with you in prayer. If you have not already, consider reaching out to your church community for support. Galatians 6:2 WEB tells us, "Bear one another’s burdens, and so fulfill the law of Christ." You were never meant to carry this alone. May the Lord bless you with His peace and presence as you wait on Him.

We’re so sorry you’re carrying this heavy burden. The relentless questioning, the lack of rest, and the pain of seeing your wife struggle while refusing help, it all wears on a person deeply. We want you to know that your own wellbeing matters, and it’s not selfish to acknowledge the toll this is taking. When stress goes on without any real recovery, our bodies and minds can start to buckle under the strain, and that’s a signal to take care of yourself, not a failure.

What you’re describing isn’t something you should have to face alone. Even when your wife won’t seek help, you still can. Reaching out to a trusted, mature Christian friend or a pastor to share what’s happening, not to gossip, but to have someone who will pray with you regularly and just listen, can make a world of difference. God often supplies the strength we need through the hands and voices of His people, and you don’t have to carry this in silence.

If the lack of sleep is becoming a serious health concern, we’d gently encourage you to see a doctor. It’s not a substitute for prayer, but a practical step to guard the strength God has given you, so you can keep loving your wife well in a difficult season. Sometimes our faithfulness includes getting the tangible help we need to keep going.

We’re praying with you. Lord Jesus, we lift up this husband who feels worn down and trapped. Grant him pockets of real rest tonight and a steady sense of Your presence in the chaos. We ask for his wife, that You would quiet the fears that drive her and open a door for healing she is willing to walk through. Give him wisdom to know when to speak, when to step back, and how to guard his own heart without pulling away from her. Surround him with a few trusted brothers who will carry this with him. In Your name, amen.

It is a bitter agony when the enemy sows discord within the walls of one’s own home, and a heavier cross still when the affliction is bound up in the one you love, who will not see her need for the Great Physician. Yet the Lord has permitted this furnace that you might learn what you could never learn on the mountaintop; He is driving you to your knees, and there is no holier place to be. Your cry is heard in the ear of Him who neither slumbers nor sleeps, and your sleepless nights are not hidden from His eye.

The prayer I would press upon you is that short, mighty, all-fitting prayer of the Syrophoenician woman: “Lord, help me!” It is a prayer for every strait, every hour, every place. When her nagging tongue assails you, when her watchful eye would rob you of rest, when you feel your own strength ebbing into bitterness, cry it from the depths of your soul: “Lord, help me!” It will be a shield to your heart and a swift arrow to the throne. Do not content yourself with a foam of words; agonize in prayer, as the Apostle Paul besought the brethren to “strive together with me in your prayers to God for me.” Let your prayer cut as a hidden torrent through the rock of this unyielding trial.

And as you plead for your own help, be not slack to particularize your wife by name before the Mercy Seat. Did not our Lord single out Peter, saying, “I have prayed for thee”? So must you bring her soul before Him, knowing that His intercession is perfect, prevenient, and prevalent. He sees what you cannot, the chains that bind her mind, the fear that drives her to control, and He alone can command peace. Pray that the God of Peace would still the storm within her; pray for her deliverance from the obsession that holds her captive; pray that the Light of the world would break through the darkness of her unbelief. This is no light skirmish, it is a siege of the soul, and only the Captain of our salvation can win the victory.

Yet do not wonder if relief tarries. For her sake, for your sake, and for the glory of Christ, it may be that you are left in this trial a while longer. Your patient endurance may be the very sermon she most needs to hear, the living letter of Christ’s love, written not with ink but with your tears. Remember that the Lord Jesus did not pray for His disciples to be taken out of the world, but that they might be kept from the evil. Tarry, then, with patience. When the unkind word cuts deep, think upon Him who, when He was reviled, reviled not again. Your meekness may yet be the means of her softening.

I bid you look to the Intercessor within the veil. He knows what your frame is, for He was a Man of sorrows and acquainted with grief. He sees the secret battering of your spirit, and He ever lives to make intercession for you. Often the dearest prayers are those breathed in the closet, meant for no ear but Heaven’s, but it is a sweet thing to know that the Lord Jesus Himself names you before the Father, and your prayers, however weak, are caught up and mingled with His own perfect petitions.

Hold fast, then, to the horns of the altar. When sleep departs, let your midnight watches become seasons of pleading. “Save Your people,” pleaded David for the whole Church; you may narrow it for your own household: “Save my wife, Lord, for I am one flesh with her.” And as the Week of Prayer reminds us, join your private cry with the united prayers of the saints, that God would command deliverance and make His face to shine upon your home. The God who answered Daniel by the river Ulai is not grown slack in His power, He can turn this valley of Achor into a door of hope. He can revive her bound spirit and grant you the rest of soul which the world cannot give.

May God in Jesus' name answer your prayer request according to God's perfect love, wisdom, will, timing, grace, and mercy. God is so in love with you. Be Encouraged!

Heal Me Lord Jesus Spirit, Soul, And Body

Your trial is heavy, and I see how the enemy assails your peace through the disorder in your household. When a man is summoned to such a conflict not of his own choosing, he should stand nobly and not despise the opportunity for growth. Here is a cross laid upon you, and by bearing it with patience you may win a great reward. Do not allow your soul to be dragged down into resentment or despair. Remember, you were delivered from sin not to abuse your health, but to preserve it in holiness. As feverish patients are relieved for a purpose, so God allows these afflictions to draw you nearer to Him.

The root of all conflict lies in our attachment to earthly things. Your loss of rest, your wounded honor, these are but shadows. If you learn to despise the comfort of the body and the praise of men, her words and watchfulness cannot harm your soul. For what does it profit if you gain a night’s sleep but lose your inner peace? She is, for now, like a silly woman laden with fears and driven by divers passions; yet these are symptoms of a malady that only God can heal. You cannot force her to seek help or to turn to the Lord, for God Himself draws no one by compulsion but wins us gently. Your part is to pray, to remain steadfast in love, and to imitate Christ, who came to His own though they received Him not.

Think of how the righteous, when they near the end of their struggles, often face their greatest test, as Abraham with Isaac. Perhaps deliverance is closer than you know. In the meantime, let your endurance be a quiet sermon to your wife, and commend her daily to the Physician of souls. I join you in this prayer:

O Lord, you give rest to the weary, look upon your servant. Quiet the storms within his wife’s mind; deliver her from the bondage of fear and rage. Grant this man the grace to endure without sin, and to find rest in you when sleep is denied. Help him to see in this trial not an enemy but a school of virtue. Restore their union in the bond of peace, through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

The weight you are carrying right now is heavy, and the toll on your body and soul is real. A home that should be a refuge has become a place of constant scrutiny, and the lack of rest only deepens the wound. I am praying for you and for your wife.

There is a word of wisdom that reminds us how much better a dry crust with quietness is than a house full of feasting and strife. You are living in the middle of that strife, and it is draining you. Your desire for peace is not selfish; it is the way God designed human beings to flourish. He does not call you to be a doormat, but He does call you to walk with wisdom when the atmosphere turns combative.

What you describe in your wife, the watching, the controlling, the cursing and disrespect, is, at its root, a battle that goes beyond human reason. Strife like this often begins with a tiny channel of water, just a small leak, but before long the whole dam breaks and you are swept away. The enemy of our souls loves to stir up confusion and every evil work. When fear-driven thoughts spiral into obsessive patterns, the mind becomes a breeding ground for turmoil, and the words that come out can be cutting and fierce. That does not excuse her behavior, but it helps us see that the real enemy is not your wife; it is the darkness feeding her fears.

I join you in asking the Lord to break that bondage over her mind. Lay hold of the promise that the wisdom from above is first pure, then peaceable, gentle, and easy to be entreated. That is the wisdom we are praying for her, a mind so transformed by Christ that the obsessive, accusatory loop is silenced. And while she refuses help or turns away from the Lord, your own posture matters immensely. Do not let the strife kindle a fire in you. A servant of the Lord must not strive, but be gentle toward all, patient, and ready to teach. That does not mean you never address what is wrong, but it means you refuse to engage in the same spirit of contention. You can calmly, quietly, draw a boundary without becoming a dog that takes hold of the ears of a passing fight.

I also want you to hear this: burnout comes fastest when we try to do something God has not asked us to carry alone. Jesus said His yoke is easy and His burden is light. You are doing your best, and that is commendable, but you cannot fix her, and you cannot force her to seek the Lord. Lay that down at His feet tonight. Ask Him for the sleep He gives to His beloved even in the storm. When the questioning comes, a soft answer can turn away wrath, but sometimes the wisest response is simply to entrust the moment to God and refuse to be pulled into the vortex of fear.

Pray with me: Father, I lift up this wife to You. In the name of Jesus, we bind the spirit of fear, control, and obsessive thought that torments her mind. Release her into the peace that passes understanding. Give this husband supernatural grace, rest for his body, and wisdom from above that is gentle and pure. Protect his heart from bitterness and fill that home with a quiet hope. May Your deliverance come, and may he know that You see every tear and every sleepless night. Amen.

Keep holding on. Your faithfulness in this trial is seen by the One who never sleeps nor slumbers. He will sustain you.
