Prayer for Deliverance and Perseverance

Please pray that the Lord would break through the struggles I’ve been facing and help me rise above this season of weakness and discouragement. Pray that He would renew my strength, guard my mind, deepen my faith, and give me the grace to overcome spiritual oppression and fulfil my daily responsibilities.

We join with you in this season and lift you up before the throne of grace, asking the Lord to break through every struggle that has weighed you down and to lift you above weakness and discouragement.

We know that seasons of spiritual oppression and heaviness are real, for we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against the principalities, against the powers, against the world’s rulers of the darkness of this age, and against the spiritual forces of wickedness in the heavenly places Ephesians 6:12. Yet we also know that greater is He who is in us than he who is in the world, and that as we submit ourselves therefore to God and resist the devil, he will flee from us James 4:7.

We pray that the Lord would renew your strength as you wait upon Him, for the Scripture promises He gives power to the weak and He increases the strength of him who has no might Isaiah 40:29, and those who wait for Yahweh will renew their strength. They will mount up with wings like eagles. They will run, and not be weary. They will walk, and not faint Isaiah 40:31. We ask Him to guard your mind and heart with His peace that surpasses all understanding Philippians 4:7, and to help you take every thought captive to the obedience of Christ 2 Corinthians 10:5, fixing your thoughts on whatever is true, honorable, just, pure, lovely and of good report Philippians 4:8.

We also pray that your faith would be deepened even through this trial, for faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God Romans 10:17, and we know that the testing of your faith produces endurance, and that endurance must have its perfect work that you may be perfect and complete, lacking in nothing James 1:3-4. His grace is sufficient for you, for His power is made perfect in weakness 2 Corinthians 12:9, and He will not allow you to be tempted above what you are able, but will with the temptation also make the way of escape, that you may be able to endure it 1 Corinthians 10:13.

We notice your request speaks of the Lord, and we want to gently remind you that it is only through the name of Jesus Christ that we have access to the Father and that we are saved. Jesus said to him, I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me John 14:6, and there is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven that is given among men, by which we must be saved Acts 4:12. It is by believing on the Lord Jesus Christ, that He died for our sins and rose again, that we are forgiven and brought near to God, and it is in that name we now pray for you.

We pray together, Father in heaven, we come before You in the mighty name of Jesus Christ and ask You to deliver our dear one from every weight of discouragement and every scheme of the enemy. Break through the oppression that has surrounded them, lift the cloud of heaviness, and shine Your light into their mind and heart. Renew their strength today, guard their mind with Your perfect peace, deepen their faith as they abide in Your Word, and pour out Your grace to overcome and to stand firm. Help them to be faithful in their daily responsibilities, to do all things as unto You Colossians 3:23, and to not be weary in doing well, for in due season they will reap, if they do not give up Galatians 6:9. When their heart is overwhelmed, lead them to the rock that is higher than they Psalm 61:2. We rebuke the spirit of discouragement and oppression in Jesus name and declare Your victory and freedom over their life. In Jesus name we pray, amen.

We encourage you to remain steadfast in prayer and in the Word each day, even when you feel weak, to cast all your worries on Him, because He cares for you 1 Peter 5:7, and to stay in fellowship with other believers who can strengthen you. God is near to you in this weakness and He will carry you through.

Thank you for sharing so honestly about this season. Wanting to rise above weakness and discouragement and still be faithful in the everyday things takes real courage, and we are glad you reached out for prayer.

We know those low stretches can make the mind feel clouded and God feel far away, even when He has not moved. That sense of distance is a common part of discouragement, not a sign you have been left behind.

When strength feels thin, it often helps to think of faithfulness as training rather than trying. Like preparing for a long walk, little steady practices over time can shape us more than one big effort to fix everything at once. That might look like keeping one simple rhythm for a few minutes each morning, and letting that be enough for now, while you give yourself grace for the other responsibilities one step at a time.

It also helps not to carry this alone. If you have a trusted pastor, counselor or doctor you can talk with, we encourage you to reach out to them alongside prayer, so you have support for both heart and mind.

Father, we bring our friend before You today. Break through the heaviness that weighs on them, guard their mind with Your peace, renew their strength day by day and deepen their trust in You. Give grace to keep going in the small daily duties and to sense Your nearness again. In Jesus' name, amen.

Your cry in this season of weakness and discouragement has been heard and has been carried to the throne of grace, and we join our hearts with yours in prayer to our faithful Lord.

We do not ask you to find strength within yourself, for it is not by creature strength that we can hold our own. When we were yet without strength, in due time Christ died for the ungodly, and the same mercy which first quickened us when we were dead in sins is able to keep us to the end. He which hath begun a good work in you will perform it until the day of Jesus Christ, and those to whom He has given eternal life shall never perish. You may stumble through weakness or through lack of watchfulness, but He will lead you back again and will not allow you to perish, for your perseverance rests not upon your hold of Him but upon His hold of you.

You have asked that your strength may be renewed, your mind guarded, your faith deepened, and grace given to overcome spiritual oppression and to fulfil your daily responsibilities. The promise stands sure, they that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength. If we are apart from God our strength will die out, but when we are linked to God and wait upon Him for everything, casting our nothingness upon His omnipotence, then shall our strength be renovated, freshened, filled up and established. Faith alone can keep a soul under discouragement seeking after Christ. Other causes may send us a certain distance along the road, but only faith will bring us to the goal of assured rest, and that faith is exceedingly delightful to Christ and will before long get a kind answer from Him.

Let us pray with you and for you.

O Lord our God, who art rich in mercy and mighty to save, look upon this thy servant in this season of trial. Break through the struggles which press so heavily, and lift up the cast down soul. Renew strength where weakness has prevailed, guard the mind from the assaults of the enemy, and keep the heart in perfect peace as it is stayed upon Thee. Deepen faith, increase holiness, and grant grace to stand against all spiritual oppression. Enable thy servant to walk in the settled way of grace and to persevere in holiness, not departing from Thee, and to fulfil with quiet faithfulness each daily duty which Thy hand appoints. Cause deliverance to be known as from Thyself alone, and let gratitude abound for the greater salvation wrought by our Lord Jesus Christ. Keep this soul waiting upon Thee, trusting wholly, submitted completely, that strength may be renewed day by day until Thou shalt bring the work to perfection. Hear us for Jesus sake. Amen.
