Prayer for daughters reunion with love

Humble Servant
I am asking for prayers for ### and ###. They were together for a while and very in love but VERY young. ### got scared and broke it off, destroying ###’s heart. Now it is much later and they are much more mature. ### wants to fix things with ###. ### has never dated anyone since ### and friends want them to reunite. Please pray that ### opens his heart again and tries to trust ###. And Pray that ### demonstrates the maturity, love and respect that ### needs. Lord, they were such a good fit, in You, pulling each other closer to you, when they were together. Please bring about this reunion, for a future built with you as the foundation. Amen.

We join you in lifting up your daughter and this young man before the Lord, and we thank you for bringing this burden to us so we can seek God's will together.

We hear your heart for them. A young love that ended in hurt, a long season of waiting and maturing, and now a desire for healing and a second chance. It is beautiful that you saw them pulling each other closer to the Lord when they were together, for that is the true foundation we pray for in any courtship. We want to gently encourage you and them to see this not simply as a reunion of a former relationship, but as a time to seek whether God is leading them toward courtship with the goal of marriage. We believe in the sanctity of marriage as a lifelong commitment between a man and a woman, and we believe being a boyfriend or girlfriend should be considered courtship with the goal of marriage to another Christian believer. If they are to be reunited, we pray it would be with that holy purpose in mind, equally yoked and centered on Christ, as we are reminded in 2 Cor 6:14 that we should not be unequally yoked with unbelievers, and in Heb 13:4 that marriage is honorable in all and the bed undefiled.

We also want to encourage both of them toward what God calls love and maturity. True love is patient and is kind, love does not envy, does not brag, is not proud, does not behave itself inappropriately, does not seek its own way, is not provoked, takes no account of evil, does not rejoice in unrighteousness but rejoices with the truth, bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things as described in 1 Cor 13:4-7. Part of that maturity is forgiveness and trust. We pray they both embrace Eph 4:32 to be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving each other, just as God also in Christ forgave you. If there was hurt and a breaking of trust, forgiveness must come first, and trust must be rebuilt slowly through consistent respect, honesty, and Christ-like character. Friends may want them to reunite, but we encourage them to trust in the Lord with all their heart and not lean on their own understanding, in all their ways acknowledge him and he will direct their paths as promised in Prov 3:5-6.

We noticed your prayer refers to the Lord and speaks of building a future with Him as the foundation, which is good, but it does not mention the name of Jesus Christ. We want to gently remind you that it is only through Jesus that we have access to the Father and it is only by His name that we are saved. Jesus said in John 14:6 I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me. And in Acts 4:12 there is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven that is given among men, by which we must be saved. So we come to God only through faith in Jesus Christ, believing that He died for our sins and rose again, and we encourage your daughter and this young man to ensure their own relationship with Jesus is secure first, seeking first His Kingdom as taught in Matt 6:33, so that any future together would be built on that Rock.

We also encourage both of them to remain pure if God does bring them back together. Courtship should honor God with purity until marriage, for we are called in 1 Cor 6:18 to flee sexual immorality, and to keep marriage honorable before Him. Demonstrating maturity, love and respect will mean guarding each other's hearts and bodies for marriage.

Let us pray together.

Father, in the name of Jesus Christ we come before Your throne of grace. We lift up this daughter and this young man to You. You know their names, their history, their wounds, and the growth You have worked in them during this time apart. Lord, we ask first that Your perfect will be done in their lives. If it is Your will for them to be reunited, we pray You would soften and open his heart to trust again, and give her, and him, the grace to demonstrate true maturity, humility, love and respect that reflects Christ. Heal the hurt that was caused when the relationship was broken, and teach them both to forgive as You have forgiven us. If a reunion is to lead to marriage, we pray You would make that path clear, that they would seek counsel, pursue purity, and build their foundation upon You. But if Your plan is different for either of them, give them peace to accept it and the faith to trust that Your plans are for welfare and not for evil, to give them hope and a future as You promise in Jer 29:11. Draw them both closer to Jesus, help them to delight themselves in You, and we trust You will give them the desires of their hearts as they align with Yours according to Ps 37:4. Guard their hearts with Your peace which surpasses all understanding in Phil 4:6-7. In the mighty and saving name of Jesus Christ we pray, amen.

We encourage you to continue to pray that they would seek the Lord's direction above all else, and to counsel them to seek godly wisdom and not be rushed by emotion or by the hopes of friends. We pray God will give you all wisdom, patience, and peace as you entrust them to His loving hands, knowing that He works all things together for good for those who love Him and are called according to His purpose in Rom 8:28.

We hear how deeply you love your daughter and how painful it was to watch her heart get broken so young. It makes sense you would feel hopeful now seeing more maturity and a desire to make things right, and also tender toward both of them as they navigate trust again.

Rebuilding trust after a hurt like that doesn't happen all at once. It grows slowly as people have time to observe consistent care, honesty, and respect over time, and that can be hard to wait through as a parent who cares for them both. The best gift you can give right now is steady, pressure-free support that points each of them toward the Lord first, rather than toward an outcome.

One way we have seen parents help in this kind of season is to keep encouraging your daughter in her own walk with God and in community with trusted, godly friends or mentors, and to let any conversations about reconciliation happen openly and without rushing. That space allows maturity to be shown, not just spoken about, and gives both of them clarity about what God is doing in their lives.

Father, we lift this family to You in Jesus' name. We ask for healing where there has been hurt, for wisdom and discernment for both of these young people, and for peace for their mother as she loves them and prays. Lead each of them closer to You, guard their hearts, and guide their steps according to Your good will. Amen.
