Prayer for ### children

Disciple of Prayer
My children were raised in the church and even went to Christian school. For whatever reason, they are not following Christ and are very happy in their lives. It hurts my heart for my kids and grandchildren. Satan has blocked them from seeing the truth. It is very hard to talk to them about God because they are very well versed and it is like standing up to Satan. I'm afraid if I push too hard it will push them further away.

We understand the deep sorrow and burden you carry for your children and grandchildren, and we join you in lifting them before the Lord, for there is no heartache like that of a parent who longs to see their children walking in the truth of Christ. Your pain is real, and your love for them is evident, but take heart, for the Lord is faithful, and His Word does not return void. You have done well to raise them in the knowledge of the Lord, and though they have turned aside for now, we must trust in the sovereignty of God, who is able to draw them back to Himself in His perfect timing.

The enemy has indeed blinded the minds of many, as Scripture warns us in 2 Corinthians 4:4: *"The god of this world has blinded the minds of the unbelieving, that the light of the Good News of the glory of Christ, who is the image of God, should not dawn on them."* Yet we must remember that our struggle is not against flesh and blood but against the spiritual forces of wickedness (Ephesians 6:12). Your children’s resistance is not merely their own doing—Satan seeks to keep them in bondage to the lies of this world. But greater is He who is in you than he who is in the world (1 John 4:4).

You are wise to be cautious in how you approach them, for pushing too hard in the flesh can indeed drive them further away. Instead, we must rely on the Holy Spirit to convict and draw them. Jesus tells us in John 6:44, *"No one can come to me unless the Father who sent me draws him."* Your role now is to pray fervently, love unconditionally, and live a life that reflects the grace and truth of Christ before them. Let them see in you a joy and peace that the world cannot offer, a hope that is unshaken by circumstances. Peter reminds us, *"But sanctify the Lord God in your hearts. Always be ready to give an answer to everyone who asks you a reason concerning the hope that is in you, with humility and fear"* (1 Peter 3:15).

Do not be discouraged by their current happiness apart from Christ. The world offers temporary pleasures, but only Christ offers eternal life and true fulfillment. Jesus warned in Matthew 7:13-14, *"Enter in by the narrow gate; for wide is the gate and broad is the way that leads to destruction, and many are those who enter in by it. How narrow is the gate, and restricted is the way that leads to life! Few are those who find it."* Their happiness now is a fleeting shadow compared to the glory that awaits those who walk with the Lord. Pray that the Holy Spirit would open their eyes to the emptiness of a life without Christ and draw them into His marvelous light.

We also encourage you to examine your own heart in this season. Have you fully surrendered your children to the Lord, trusting Him with their souls? It is easy to slip into fear or despair, but we must remember that our God is mighty to save. Proverbs 22:6 says, *"Train up a child in the way he should go, and when he is old he will not depart from it."* This is a promise to cling to, but it does not guarantee an immediate return. Some, like the prodigal son, must wander far before they realize their need for the Father. Your prayers are a powerful weapon in this spiritual battle. James 5:16 declares, *"The insistent prayer of a righteous person is powerfully effective."*

Let us pray together for your children and grandchildren:

Heavenly Father, we come before You with a heavy yet hopeful heart, lifting up these precious children and grandchildren who have turned aside from the truth. Lord, You know their names, their struggles, and the strongholds that bind them. We ask that You would break the power of the enemy over their lives and open their eyes to the deception they are living under. Father, draw them back to Yourself with cords of love and kindness. Soften their hearts to receive Your truth, and let them see the emptiness of a life lived apart from You.

Lord, we pray for divine appointments—moments where Your Spirit moves in undeniable ways to reveal Your love and holiness to them. Place godly influences in their paths, people who will speak Your truth in love and demonstrate the reality of a life surrendered to Christ. Give wisdom to this parent as they navigate these difficult conversations, that their words would be seasoned with grace and their actions would reflect Your love.

We rebuked the spirit of deception and rebellion that has taken hold of them, and we declare that no weapon formed against them shall prosper. Father, let them come to the end of themselves, that they may turn to You in repentance and faith. Remind them of the foundation they were raised upon, and let the seeds of Your Word planted in their hearts bear fruit in due season.

We ask all this in the mighty name of Jesus Christ, our Savior and Redeemer, who alone has the power to save and transform lives. May Your will be done in their lives, and may Your name be glorified through their return to You. Amen.

Finally, we urge you to remain steadfast in prayer and trust. The Lord is not slow concerning His promises, but He is patient, not wishing that any should perish but that all should come to repentance (2 Peter 3:9). Keep loving them, keep praying for them, and keep pointing them to Christ in both word and deed. The battle is the Lord’s, and He is faithful to complete the good work He has begun in them (Philippians 1:6). Do not lose heart, for in due time, you will reap a harvest if you do not give up (Galatians 6:9).

We're right there with you, sister, feeling your pain and sharing your burden. It's heart-wrenching to see our loved ones walking away from the truth, isn't it? But remember, God is still on the throne, and He's got this. He's not surprised by their rebellion, and He's not caught off guard. He's got a plan, and He's working it out in their lives, even when we can't see it.

We need to keep praying, keep loving, and keep living our faith in front of them. Let's ask the Holy Spirit to give us wisdom in how we approach them. Sometimes, it's not about pushing harder, but loving deeper. Let's show them Jesus in our actions and our words.

Let's pray together:

"Lord, we come to You today, carrying the hearts of our children and grandchildren. They're lost, Lord, and we need You to draw them back to Yourself. Open their eyes to the truth, Lord. Show them the emptiness of the world's promises and the fullness of life in You. Give us divine appointments, Lord, moments where they'll see You clearly and hear Your voice. Give us wisdom, Lord, to know when to speak and when to be silent. And Lord, we trust You. We trust that You're working in their lives, even when we can't see it. In Jesus' name, we pray. Amen."

They're already away. Continue to bear witness to the truth. Be sure the devil is not telling them what reality is, he and the world are doing that non-stop. The truth is, "This is the verdict: Light has come into the world, but people loved darkness instead of light because their deeds were evil," Jn 3:19.
"I have come in My Father’s name, and you have not received Me; but if someone else comes in his own name, you will receive him. 44 How can you believe if you accept glory from one another, yet do not seek the glory that comes from the only God?" Jn 5:43-44. The truth is they know the truth but didn't continue in it, "So He said to the Jews who had believed Him, “If you continue in My word, you are truly My disciples. 32 Then you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free,” Jn 8:31-32.

One can pray for them, but be sure to clear yourself, as all the Old Testament prophets daily rose early warning the people. "Whether they listen or not" Jer 7:27. Jesus, as in the verses above, and the Apostles in Acts, warned all those who were in error all the time, one apostle in Galatians warned another even when he was in error... Ask God to bring others into their paths to warn them as well. Jesus corrected all the churches in Revelation but one. Apparently Jesus is not a fan of long-term "friendship evangelism." The Holy Spirit's model is the one to follow, especially since the love of Christ compels us, and knowing the fear of the Lord we persuade people, beholding the kindness and severity of God, doing it out of love which is evidently present in the prayer request, in Jesus' Name.

Lord, we pray for this prayer and family for blessings healing and salvation. Heal and bless. May their lives be a praise and glory unto thee.
Come to the Lord's holy presence. Seek him with all your heart. Cling to his Word and meditate on it moment by moment by positive thoughts and joy in the heart (James 1:2-4), knowing that the Lord is good and to him be all the praise. Seek first God's kingdom and his righteousness (Matthew 6:33). Even though life may feel hard, the Lord's hand will be on you, and he will answer in his time. I am praying for you. Amen.

We want to thank you for allowing us the sacred privilege of lifting your children and grandchildren before the Lord with you. Our hearts have been burdened alongside yours these past days as we’ve prayed for the scales to fall from their eyes and for the Holy Spirit to move in ways only He can. We know the deep ache of watching those we love walk paths that seem far from God’s truth, and we’ve been crying out for His mercy to break through the enemy’s lies with gentleness and power.

Please know we are still standing with you in this battle—not against your children, but for their souls, against the spiritual forces that blind them. We’ve prayed for divine opportunities where your words, seasoned with grace, will find open hearts. For the Lord to give you wisdom in when to speak and when to trust Him in silence. And most of all, for your children and grandchildren to encounter Jesus in ways they cannot ignore or explain away, that their happiness in this world would pale in comparison to the joy of knowing Him.

If the Lord has begun to move in their lives—whether through a softening of hearts, unexpected questions, or even small steps toward Him—we’d love for you to share that praise with us. And if the wait continues, we invite you to post again, so we can persist in prayer with you. The God who pursues the lost sheep does not grow weary, and neither will we. May He strengthen you with His peace as you cling to the promise that His Word will not return void.

We are praying still, in Jesus’ name.
