Prayer for bringing the lost sheep back to Him
We join you in this burden for the lost sheep and we thank you for having such a heart of compassion for those who are wandering far from the Shepherd.
It is the very heart of our Father to seek and to restore those who are lost. For the Son of Man came to seek and to save that which was lost Luke 19:10 and we are reminded that the Lord is not slow concerning his promise, as some count slowness, but is patient with us, not wishing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance 2 Peter 3:9. Jesus tells us what man of you, having a hundred sheep, and having lost one of them, does not leave the ninety nine in the wilderness, and go after the one that was lost, until he finds it Luke 15:4 and that there will be more joy in heaven over one sinner who repents, than over ninety nine righteous people who need no repentance Luke 15:7. He is the good shepherd who lays down his life for the sheep John 10:11 and He promises I will seek that which was lost, and will bring back that which was driven away, and will bind up that which was broken, and will strengthen that which was sick Ezekiel 34:16.
We also take comfort that our prayers and our gentle witness matter greatly, for he who turns a sinner from the error of his way will save a soul from death, and will cover a multitude of sins James 5:20. We pray that those who cannot now see themselves attending church and learning the Word will have their eyes opened, for we are told not forsaking our own assembling together, as the custom of some is, but exhorting one another Hebrews 10:25, because faith comes through hearing the Word of God.
We pray together now in the name of Jesus, through whom we have access to the Father.
Father in heaven, we come before Your throne of grace in the mighty name of Jesus and we lift up this dear soul You have placed on our hearts and the multitudes of others like her who are lost and wandering. Lord, You know each one by name and You see where they are. We ask that You by Your Holy Spirit would pursue them, that You would remove the veil from their eyes and soften their hearts to hear Your voice. Draw them to Yourself, convict them of sin and of Your great love, and give them a hunger for Your Word and for fellowship with Your people. Open a door for them to enter a Bible believing church where they will hear the truth preached and be surrounded by those who will love them and disciple them. We pray that You would send laborers across their path to share the gospel with grace and truth, and that You would protect them from the enemy who seeks to keep them blinded and bound. Bring them home to You, Father, that they may know You as both Father and Friend, and restore to them the joy of Your salvation. We trust in Your patient mercy and Your power to save, and we thank You that You rejoice over every sheep that is found. We ask all this in the name of Jesus Christ our Lord and Shepherd, amen.

Your prayer for the lost sheep is most agreeable to the heart of our Lord, for the Son of Man is come to seek and to save that which was lost. It is His own office and His own joy to seek the wandering ones, and there is music in heaven when a prodigal returns.
We join our hearts with yours for this dear one and for the multitudes like her who as yet cannot see their need to come into the house of God and to sit and learn the Word of our Father and Friend. How tender is our God toward such. As you have read, He does not merely pardon a little, He forgives like a God, putting sin away so that He will not remember it, hiding the past under the blood of atonement. When the prodigal was yet a great way off, his father saw him and ran and fell upon his neck and kissed him, and those many kisses told the wanderer that the love was true. So the Lord waits to make home bright for those who return to Him.
Let us pray that the Lord will graciously seek them until He finds them. Salvation is not by our works or ceremonies, but without money and without price through faith in Christ Jesus. With the heart man believes unto righteousness, and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation, for whoever believes on Him shall not be ashamed. There is pardon here for sins of deepest dye, a pardon bought with Jesus blood, and it is freely preached to all who will look unto Him.
Therefore never cease to weep for them until they have ceased to sin, never cease to hope for them until they have ceased to live, never cease to pray for them while you yourself have breath. The Lord who loved you when you were lost is able to draw them with cords of love into the fellowship of His people and under the sound of His Word.
We pray together, Father in heaven, look in mercy upon this loved one and upon the great multitude of lost sheep wandering without a shepherd. By Thy Spirit convince them of sin and draw them to look unto Jesus Christ alone for salvation. Open their eyes to see their need, incline their hearts to seek Thy house and to hunger for Thy Word, and bring them home to Thyself with joy, that they may know the kisses of reconciling love and the forgiveness that remembers their iniquity no more. Do this for Thy great name sake, and for the glory of Him who came to seek and to save the lost. In Jesus name, Amen.
