Prayer for alcoholic ###

### has heard your burden for your daughter and we join with you in bringing her before the Lord, and we will remember her daily in prayer as you have asked. Our hearts ache with you to see one you love caught in the grip of alcohol and already suffering in her body because of it. We know this is heavy and frightening, but we serve a God who is mighty to save and to heal.

The Bible speaks clearly about wine and strong drink, not to condemn a person beyond hope, but to warn us because God loves us and wants us free. Proverbs 20:1 says Wine is a mocker and beer is a brawler. Whoever is led astray by them is not wise. Ephesians 5:18 says Don't be drunken with wine, in which is dissipation, but be filled with the Spirit. And 1 Corinthians 6:10 tells us that drunkards will not inherit God's Kingdom, yet in the very next verse we are reminded that such were some of you, but you were washed, you were sanctified, you were justified in the name of the Lord Jesus. This shows us that drunkenness is sin and bondage, but Jesus Christ can wash, forgive, and deliver completely. Our bodies are the temple of the Holy Spirit as taught in 1 Corinthians 6:19-20, and God desires to restore what alcohol has broken.

We also noticed your request did not mention the name of Jesus, and we want to gently share why that name is so important. It is only through Jesus that we have access to the Father and it is only through Him that we are saved. Jesus said in John 14:6, I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me. And Acts 4:12 says There is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven that is given among men, by which we must be saved. To be saved we must believe that Jesus is the Son of God who died for our sins and rose again, and call upon His name in repentance and faith. It is in that name we pray for your daughter, that she would not only be delivered from drinking but would come to know or return to Jesus as her Savior and Lord, for true freedom comes only from Him.

We pray together for her now.

Father in heaven, we come before You in the name of Jesus Christ and lift up this precious daughter to You. You see her, You know her sickness, You know the hold alcohol has on her, and You love her more than we do. Lord, we ask You to have mercy and deliver her from this bondage. Break the chains of addiction and set her free by Your power. We pray for her body that You would heal her, for You have said in Psalm 103:3 that You forgive all our iniquities and heal all our diseases, and in Jeremiah 30:17 You promise, For I will restore health to you, and I will heal you of your wounds, says Yahweh. Touch her liver, her mind, her whole body, and bring restoration. Convict her heart of sin and draw her to repentance, that she would turn from drunkenness and be filled with Your Holy Spirit instead. Give her a hatred for what is destroying her and a hunger for righteousness. Surround her with godly help, wise counsel, medical care and a Bible believing church that will speak truth in love and hold her accountable. Strengthen this parent who is interceding, give peace that passes understanding as promised in Philippians 4:6-7, and help them to love with both grace and truth, not enabling sin but not withdrawing love. We claim James 5:16 that the insistent prayer of a righteous person is powerfully effective, and we trust You hear us. Lead this daughter to salvation if she does not yet know You, and to full surrender if she does. Restore her to health and to purpose for Your glory. In the name of Jesus Christ our Lord we pray, amen.

We encourage you to keep praying without ceasing and to keep pointing her to Christ and to help. Continue to speak the truth in love, encourage her to seek both spiritual and medical help, and connect with a pastor or mature believers who can walk with your family. God is able to do far more than we ask or think, and He hears the cries of a parent. Psalm 34:17-18 says The righteous cry, and Yahweh hears, and delivers them out of all their troubles. Yahweh is near to those who have a broken heart, and saves those who have a crushed spirit. We stand with you in hope that God will bring deliverance and healing before it is too late, and we will continue to lift her up daily before the throne of grace.

We have been thinking of you and your daughter, and how painful it must be to watch her struggle and now be sick. Loving someone through alcohol dependence can leave a parent feeling helpless and exhausted, and we want you to know you are not carrying this alone. We will keep praying daily as you asked.

Because you mentioned she is already sick, we encourage you gently to help her get medical care soon with her doctor or clinic, alongside prayer. Alcohol dependence can affect the body in serious ways, and a trusted medical professional can assess what help she needs right now. If you ever feel she is in immediate danger, please reach out to local emergency services right away.

It also helps not to walk this road in isolation. Many families find strength in a steady, healthy community, whether a pastor, a trusted counselor, or a recovery support group like Celebrate Recovery or Alcoholics Anonymous where people understand these struggles and can offer ongoing encouragement. You do not have to fix this by yourself, and getting support for yourself matters too.

Father, we lift this dear daughter to You in Jesus' name. Have mercy on her body and soul, draw her toward help and toward You, and give her hunger for wholeness. Give her mother wisdom, peace and strength for each day, and surround them both with caring people who will walk with them. Amen.

Father, humbly ask for Your power to intervene. Please meet deepest spiritual, physical, emotional, financial needs according to Your Will and timing in Jesus Name Amen
"May the Lord bless you and protect you. May the Lord smile on you and be gracious to you. May the Lord show you his favor and give you his peace." Numbers 6:24-26

Your prayer for your daughter has been heard and it is a burden we will gladly carry with you to the throne of grace, and that daily as you have asked.

There is no case too hard for the Lord, and though the bondage of strong drink is cruel and the sickness that follows it is grievous, we have a Saviour whose power to deliver and to heal is abundant. The Scripture says, He heals the broken in heart and binds up their wounds, and again, the leaves of the tree were for the healing of the nations. The least thing about Christ, even as it were the leaf, is full of healing virtue, and His blood is able to change the life and make the nature other than it was before.

We are reminded that deliverance from the power of sin is as much the work of God as deliverance from the guilt of sin. We must look to our heavenly Father altogether and alone for it. When a soul is going down to the pit, God has said, I have found a ransom. That ransom is His own Son, who bore the penalty and who is able to break the chain which no human hand can break. He brings forth His people not by their own strength, for they can do nothing, but by His own outstretched arm, and His deliverance is effectual.

Be encouraged then to continue in earnest, believing prayer. Pray not only that her body may be healed, for she is already sick, but that her soul may be healed through pardon. Healing and forgiveness are placed in happy conjunction in Christ. When the Sun of Righteousness rises with healing beneath His wings, pardon and healing become one. Plead that she may see her need of Christ, that she may repent and turn to Him who alone can give a new heart and power to overcome this destroyer.

We will join you in praying daily that the Lord will in mercy preserve her life, convince her of sin, bring her to true repentance and faith in Jesus Christ alone for salvation, and grant her complete deliverance from this captivity. Pray also that He will give her a hatred for that which is destroying her and a thirst for the living water which alone can satisfy.

Cast your grief not to the pitiless sea but to the God whose ear is open to the cry of a parent. He who delivered His people of old with silver and gold, and who enriches every deliverance with His grace, is able to do exceedingly abundantly above what we ask.

May the Lord sustain you in this trial, give you wisdom to seek needful help for her body and soul, and surround you both with godly counsel and care in your local church. We will keep this request before the Lord, trusting that He who has begun a good work will perfect it for His glory.
