Prayer for ### addiction

Disciple of Prayer
I want you to pray for me as I keep falling into the sin of lust again and again. And by September I want to be renewed.

We stand with you in this struggle, brother, and we lift you up before the Lord, for we know that the battle against sin is not one fought in our own strength but through the power of Christ who strengthens us. The sin of lust is a snare that many have faced, but take heart—God’s Word declares that no temptation has taken you except what is common to man. God is faithful, and He will not allow you to be tempted beyond what you can bear, but will with the temptation also make the way of escape, that you may be able to endure (1 Corinthians 10:13).

Yet we must also speak truth in love: this battle cannot be won by sheer willpower or a self-imposed deadline like September. True renewal comes from surrender—not to a timeline, but to the Lordship of Jesus Christ. Have you confessed this sin before Him, repenting and turning away from it? The Scriptures warn that if we regard iniquity in our hearts, the Lord will not hear us (Psalm 66:18). But if we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness (1 John 1:9). Renewal is not a future event; it begins the moment you yield fully to the Holy Spirit, allowing Him to transform your heart and mind.

We also urge you to examine what feeds this sin. Are there habits, media, or relationships that fuel lust in your life? Jesus said, *"If your right eye causes you to stumble, pluck it out and throw it away from you. For it is more profitable for you that one of your members should perish than for your whole body to be cast into Gehenna"* (Matthew 5:29). This is not a call to literal self-harm, but a radical call to remove anything that leads you into sin. Replace those influences with the Word of God. *"How can a young man keep his way pure? By living according to your word"* (Psalm 119:9). Memorize Scripture, flee from temptation (2 Timothy 2:22), and fill your mind with what is true, honorable, and pure (Philippians 4:8).

Lastly, brother, we notice you did not invoke the name of Jesus in your request. There is no other name under heaven by which we must be saved (Acts 4:12), and it is only through Christ that we have access to the Father. If you have not yet surrendered your life to Jesus as Lord and Savior, we implore you to do so now. *"If you will confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved"* (Romans 10:9). Without Him, there is no power to overcome sin. But in Him, you are more than a conqueror (Romans 8:37).

Let us pray for you now:

Heavenly Father, we come before You on behalf of our brother, who is trapped in the cycle of lust and longing for freedom. Lord, we ask that You break every chain of addiction in his life by the power of Your mighty hand. Convict him deeply of this sin, not to shame him, but to lead him to true repentance. Fill him with a godly sorrow that produces a harvest of righteousness (2 Corinthians 7:10). Give him the strength to flee from temptation and the wisdom to cut off every avenue that leads him into sin.

Father, we ask that You renew his mind by the washing of Your Word (Ephesians 5:26). Let him meditate on what is pure and lovely, and let the Holy Spirit guide him into all truth (John 16:13). Surround him with brothers in Christ who will hold him accountable and encourage him in this fight. Let him not walk this path alone, but find strength in the body of believers (Hebrews 10:24-25).

Lord, if our brother has not yet fully surrendered to You, we pray that today would be the day of his salvation. Open his eyes to see that apart from You, there is no victory over sin. Draw him to Yourself, Jesus, and let him find his satisfaction in You alone. You are the living water; may he drink deeply of You and never thirst again (John 4:14).

We declare freedom over him in the name of Jesus Christ. Let September not be a deadline he strives for in his own strength, but a season where he looks back and sees the faithfulness of God who has already begun a good work in him (Philippians 1:6). May his life bring glory to Your name, Lord, as he walks in purity and holiness.

We ask all this in the mighty and matchless name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior. Amen.

Brother, we encourage you to seek out a mature believer or pastor who can walk with you in this journey. Accountability is vital. Also, consider fasting and prayer as a way to draw closer to God and weaken the flesh’s hold on you. You are not defined by your struggles, but by the blood of Christ that cleanses you. Stand firm, for the Lord is with you. *"Submit therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you"* (James 4:7). We are praying for you.

Hey there,

We're here with you, standing strong in this fight against lust. We know it's a tough one, but remember, we're not alone. God is faithful, and He's promised to be with us every step of the way.

We want to encourage you, brother, to surrender fully to Jesus. It's not about a deadline or sheer willpower. It's about yielding to Him, confessing your sins, and turning away from them. As it says in 1 John 1:9, "If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness."

Also, take a look at what's feeding this sin. Are there habits, media, or relationships that you need to cut off? Jesus said in Matthew 5:29, "If your right eye causes you to sin, gouge it out and throw it away." This isn't literal, but a call to remove anything that leads you into sin.

Let's pray together:

Dear Jesus, we come before You today, asking for strength for our brother. Convict him of his sins, Lord, but also fill him with Your love and grace. Help him to flee from temptation and to fill his mind with Your Word. Give him wisdom to cut off sinful habits and replace them with things that honor You.

Lord, if our brother hasn't fully surrendered to You yet, we pray that today would be the day. Open his eyes to see that victory over sin is only possible through You. Draw him to Yourself, Jesus, and help him to find his satisfaction in You alone.

In Jesus' name, we pray. Amen.

Keep fighting the good fight, brother. We're cheering you on, and we're here to pray with you.

I prayed that God in Jesus' name will answer your prayer request according to God's perfect love, wisdom, will, timing, grace, and mercy. Thank You Jesus!!!

Psalm 37:4: Delight yourself in the Lord, And He shall give you the desires of your heart.

Be a Prayer Warrior: “Praying for others”

We want to thank you for allowing us the honor of lifting you up before the Lord in this battle against the sin of lust. Our hearts have been burdened alongside yours these past days, and we’ve been earnestly praying that God would break these chains, renew your mind, and fill you with His strength to walk in purity. We know this struggle is deeply personal, and we admire your courage in seeking accountability and the Lord’s transformation by September.

If God has already begun to work in your heart—whether through moments of victory, renewed conviction, or a deeper reliance on Him—we would love to rejoice with you in a praise report. Even small steps forward are worth celebrating as evidence of His faithfulness.

But if the weight of this sin still feels heavy, please don’t carry it alone. Post your request again so we can continue standing with you in prayer, speaking God’s truth over you, and asking for His deliverance. Remember, our fight is not against flesh and blood but against spiritual forces, and we are here to intercede for you as brothers and sisters in Christ.

May the Lord remind you daily that His grace is sufficient, His mercy is new every morning, and His power is made perfect in your weakness. We are cheering you on, believing that by September—and every day after—you will see the fruit of His renewal in your life.

We commit you again to the Father, asking that He would guard your heart, redirect your thoughts, and satisfy you with His presence more than any fleeting temptation. In Jesus Name.
