Hello everyone,

Please pray that God will give me a miracle and make a way for me to get accepted to the US Military Academy. Because of circumstances that were out of my control, I was not able to become involved in many extra curricular activities that the Academy looks for when admitting Cadets. I feel like I'm a poor candidate and without God's help, I stand absolutely no chance at attending West Point.

From the time I was little, I've only ever wanted to be a West Point Cadet and serve my country. I want nothing more than to wear the uniform of my nation and be an officer who does their best to lead America's sons and daughters. I want to work hard and be a woman of character who is not afraid to stand for what she believes in. I want to stand before God and tell Him that I did what I thought was best, and that I proudly served Him and the nation that has given me so much. West Point, for me, is the ultimate way to do that.

As of right now, I'm finding it very hard to accept the fact that I might not get into West Point because of situations that I couldn't control. I feel like I am being robbed of the only thing I've ever truly and deeply wanted, like my circumstance is completely unjust. I'm extremely hurt and disheartened. And I know that these feelings are not of God; I know that the Lord wants me to succeed, be happy and serve Him. But right now, it looks like my dreams are being taken right out of my hands. I'm trying to be quiet and listen for Him, but I feel so incredibly lost and broken-hearted. I don't see a way for me without His Grace and intervention.

Please pray that I find peace while I wait for the admissions process to continue, and that I am accepted to West Point against many worldly odds.

Thank you.

Brittany

Lord Jesus,

Please put your hand of favor on the admissions process and help Bitnd12 to gain access to the military career he desires. Bless him and keep him all the days of his life. Guide and protect him and lead him to righteousness. Father, please use this situation to bring glory and honor to you. How great you are! Our most awesome God! Thank you for all you do for us. In the name of Jesus, I pray.

Father, I pray that You would intercede on behalf of Brittany and her request. In a time when we have fewer and fewer people of true honor and character, I pray You would grant her the opportunity to be an example to others in her commitment to this nation and the ideals on which it was founded. I believe what she has written here would be more than enough to move the hearts of those who decide on admission. Please do not let lack of opportunity block this path for her now. I pray Your blessings and miracles upon this young woman - Be her constant guide and companion. Amen.

This is a praise report of sorts. Truly, I've been feeling so awful about my chances at getting into West Point. I have spent a lot of time praying and seeking God but still find it difficult to see myself being victorious against such tough odds. God sent me a blessing this morning in the form of an email devotional:

Please open your Bible and read Mark 4:35-41.

When we read the story of Jesus calming the waves, there are a lot of things we could focus on, but I'd like to focus on how the disciples responded. After "the wind died down and it was completely calm," Jesus asks the disciples "Why are you so afraid? Do you still have no faith?" The disciples' recorded response tells us something about them: "They were terrified."

These disciples were not supermen. Simon Peter and his brother Andrew were fishermen, while Matthew was a hated tax collector. They were regular people, selected not for their great knowledge of the scriptures, nor for their political acumen or even for their exuberant faith; mostly because they possessed none of these qualities.

Imagine a company conducting interviews to hire someone for an important job position. Then imagine the company selecting a woefully under qualified person instead of someone who's much more experienced. Unlike the other applicants, the chosen person didn't have a resume full of impressive achievements. Would you wonder what the HR department was up to?

When we read the gospels, we don't discover disciples who are described in piously unbelievable tones; they are described as authentic (and authentically flawed) human beings. If they were at a job interview, they wouldn't have much previous experience. But Paul notes that "God chose the weak things of the world to shame the strong" (1 Corinthians 1:27). And God, able to know the depths of your heart, is more concerned about you than your resume.

God is patient, and God is kind, because God is love. (1 Corinthians 13:4, 1 John 4:16) Whenever you feel inadequate, like you want to ask "Who am I, Lord, to be chosen for this task?" just remember the disciples, terrified on a boat in the middle of the lake. In reality they were always secure because they were with their Lord. Embrace your role as an everyday disciple in your daily journey with Jesus, who is with you always!

Needless to say, I feel to my knees in thanksgiving and praise. Our God is so awesome, and I've got a new hope as I continue to work towards West Point.

Please continue to pray though, I'd very much appreciate it!
