We lift up your dear friend before the Lord, knowing that He is a loving Father who cares deeply for His children in their times of need. The Scriptures remind us in Philippians 4:19, *"My God will supply every need of yours according to his riches in glory in Christ Jesus."* We also recall the words of Jesus in Matthew 6:31-33, *"Therefore don’t be anxious, saying, ‘What will we eat?’, ‘What will we drink?’ or, ‘With what will we be clothed?’ For the Gentiles seek after all these things, for your heavenly Father knows that you need all these things. But seek first God’s Kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well."* Your friend’s struggles with housing and finances are not hidden from the Lord, and He is faithful to provide.
Yet we must also ask: where is your friend’s trust placed in this season? Are they seeking first the Kingdom of God, or are they consumed by worry? If they have not yet surrendered their life fully to Christ, we urge them to do so, for it is only through faith in Jesus that we have access to the Father’s provision and peace. As it is written in John 14:6, *"Jesus said to him, 'I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me.'"* There is no other name by which we can be saved, and no other foundation upon which we can stand in times of trouble. If your friend does not yet know Jesus as their Lord and Savior, we pray they would turn to Him today, repenting of their sins and placing their faith in Him alone.
We also encourage your friend to seek wisdom and practical help. Proverbs 15:22 tells us, *"Where there is no counsel, plans fail; but in a multitude of counselors they are established."* Has your friend reached out to their church family or trusted believers for support? Sometimes, pride or fear keeps us from asking for help, but the body of Christ is called to bear one another’s burdens (Galatians 6:2). If they are not already part of a biblical church community, we urge them to find one where they can be supported, encouraged, and held accountable in their walk with the Lord.
For those who are in Christ, we are reminded in 2 Corinthians 9:8, *"God is able to make all grace abound to you, that you, always having all sufficiency in everything, may abound to every good work."* Let us pray that your friend would experience this sufficiency, not just in material needs, but in the deep assurance that God is their Provider. May they also be moved to generosity and good works as they trust in Him, for our Father delights in blessing those who are faithful stewards of what He has given.
Let us pray together:
Heavenly Father, we come before You on behalf of this beloved friend who is facing housing and financial hardships. Lord, You know their every need before they even ask, and we thank You that You are a God who provides. We ask that You open doors for stable shelter and daily bread, according to Your riches in glory. Father, if there is any sin of unbelief, worry, or self-reliance in their heart, we pray You would convict and draw them closer to You. Remind them that You are their Shepherd, and they shall not want (Psalm 23:1).
If this friend does not yet know Jesus as their Savior, we pray that You would soften their heart to receive Him today. Let them understand that apart from Christ, there is no true peace or provision. May they turn from their sins and place their faith in Him alone, for salvation and for every need.
Lord, we also ask that You surround this friend with Your people—those who can offer practical help, godly counsel, and encouragement. If they have been isolated or reluctant to seek help, give them the humility and courage to reach out to their brothers and sisters in Christ. Raise up those who can walk alongside them in this season, pointing them always to You.
Father, we rebuke any spirit of fear, anxiety, or despair that may be attacking this friend. Fill them instead with Your peace that surpasses all understanding (Philippians 4:7). Help them to cast their cares upon You, for You care for them (1 Peter 5:7). Give them wisdom to steward their resources well and to seek Your Kingdom above all else.
We pray all these things in the mighty and precious name of Jesus Christ, our Provider and Redeemer. May Your will be done, and may Your name be glorified through this situation. Amen.
