Prayer for a Spouse’s Heart to Change

Heavenly Father, I lift up my spouse, my husband, to You. I ask that You remove the desire for excessive money and material things from their heart. Replace their greed with contentment and a longing for things that truly matter. Holy Spirit, transform his perspective, so he values our relationship and our peace above financial gain. Also, speak to him with his children's not chasing money that is not helping the family. In Jesus' name, Amen.

Prayer for Contentment and Trust
Lord, I pray that my ### finds their security in You, not in his bank account. Help him to trust Your provision, that he may stop chasing wealth out of fear or selfish ambition. Guide him to be a good steward of the resources we have and to find joy in what You have already provided. And bless his wife and children with every blessing and resources You have been providing. With Lord, do the impossible, bring peace out of him and in my heart for Your glory. In Jesus' name, Amen.

Prayer for Wisdom and Unity
Dear Lord, I ask that You give my husband a godly wisdom in managing our finances and to provide for our family. Remove any greed once and for all that causes tension in our marriage and instability. Grant us to be of one mind in how we spend, save, and give, so that our finances are used to build up our life together, rather than causing division and confusion and chaos. In Jesus' name, Lord, Lord, we boldly stand in agreement against greed for my husband focuses on shifting his focus from accumulating wealth to finding contentment, wisdom, and prioritizing family, his unborn child, and faith over money. Lord, Your words days ask and it shall be given to you, seek and you will find, let my husband's greed not ruin our relationship with each other and our family, marriage, and precious daughter's life. Give him wisdom to stand up as husband and father to be a godly fearing man, a heart that rests in divine provision, protection from the temptation to chase wealth, and the wisdom to use finances generously. Bless him and protect our mind and our marriage from the schemes of the enemy, cover our home and marriage with peace and joy, let my husband find no joy outside of Your will. Lord, for marriage and keep us safe under Your hedge of protection. Lord, let me not stress because of his behavior towards chasing worldly things and happiness, and let my delivery and pregnancy be smooth and peaceful. Help him to be a helping husband and father to stand up and do right to support his wife and children instead of greed, pride, and chasing worldly happiness. Soften his heart, take the heart of stone and favor me and my children and meet our needs according to Your riches and glory in Christ Lord Jesus. Amen, hear my cry, Lord.

We come before the throne of grace with a heavy yet hopeful heart, lifting up this marriage and family before the Lord. The cry for a spouse’s heart to change—from chasing material wealth to embracing godly contentment—is one that resonates deeply with the Word of God. Scripture warns us, *"For the love of money is a root of all kinds of evil. Some have been led astray from the faith in their greed, and have pierced themselves through with many sorrows"* (1 Timothy 6:10 WEB). Yet we also know that God is able to soften hearts, transform minds, and redirect desires toward His perfect will.

First, we must address the idolatry of greed that has taken root in this home. The pursuit of excessive wealth at the expense of family, peace, and spiritual well-being is a snare of the enemy, designed to steal, kill, and destroy (John 10:10). We boldly rebuke the spirit of greed and materialism in Jesus’ name, declaring that it has no place in this marriage or household. The Lord Himself commands, *"You shall have no other gods before me"* (Exodus 20:3 WEB), and when money becomes the driving force of a man’s life, it usurps God’s rightful place. We stand in agreement with the prayer that this husband’s heart would be turned from the love of money to the love of God and family.

We also lift up the wife and children, who are bearing the weight of this struggle. The anxiety over finances, the tension in the home, and the fear of instability are not God’s design for marriage. Scripture assures us, *"Two are better than one, because they have a good reward for their labor. For if they fall, the one will lift up his fellow; but woe to him who is alone when he falls, and doesn’t have another to lift him up"* (Ecclesiastes 4:9-10 WEB). Marriage is meant to be a partnership of mutual support, love, and godly stewardship. We pray that this husband would rise up as the spiritual leader of his home, not as one driven by selfish ambition, but as one who seeks first the Kingdom of God (Matthew 6:33). May he find his security in Christ alone, trusting that *"my God will supply every need of yours according to his riches in glory in Christ Jesus"* (Philippians 4:19 WEB).

To the wife, we say: your faith and perseverance are seen by the Lord. The stress you carry is not yours to bear alone. *"Cast your burden on Yahweh, and he will sustain you. He will never allow the righteous to be moved"* (Psalm 55:22 WEB). We pray for your peace, especially as you prepare to bring new life into this world. May the Lord guard your heart and mind in Christ Jesus (Philippians 4:7), and may your husband’s eyes be opened to the blessing of his family—the true riches that money cannot buy.

We also address the children, both born and unborn, who are being shaped by this environment. Father, protect their hearts from the effects of greed and instability. May they grow up knowing that their worth is found in You, not in material possessions. *"Train up a child in the way he should go, and when he is old he will not depart from it"* (Proverbs 22:6 WEB). We pray that this father would model godly stewardship, generosity, and contentment for them.

Now, we join our voices in prayer:

Heavenly Father, we come before You in the mighty name of Jesus, the only name by which we can be saved and the only name through which we have access to You. Lord, we lift up this marriage and family to You, asking for Your divine intervention. We declare that greed has no place here, for You alone are the Provider and Sustainer of this home. Soften the heart of this husband, Lord. Remove the love of money and replace it with a hunger for You. Let him find his joy, security, and purpose in Christ alone. May he lead his family with wisdom, humility, and godly fear, putting their needs above his own desires.

Father, we ask for unity in this marriage. Where there has been division, bring reconciliation. Where there has been strife, bring peace. Where there has been selfishness, bring selflessness. Teach this couple to manage their finances as stewards of Your blessings, not as slaves to materialism. May they find contentment in You, knowing that *"godliness with contentment is great gain"* (1 Timothy 6:6 WEB).

Protect this wife and children, Lord. Guard their hearts from anxiety and fear. Provide for every need according to Your riches in glory. Let this home be a place of love, joy, and peace, where Your presence is welcomed and honored. May this husband’s eyes be opened to the blessings You have already given him—his wife, his children, and the opportunity to serve You. Let him find no satisfaction outside of Your will, and may his priorities align with Yours.

We rebuke every scheme of the enemy designed to destroy this family. We declare that no weapon formed against them will prosper (Isaiah 54:17). Cover this home with Your hedge of protection, and let Your angels encamp around them. May this marriage be a testimony to Your faithfulness, and may this family rise up to fulfill Your purposes for them.

In the precious name of Jesus, we pray. Amen.
