Heal Me Lord Jesus Spirit, Soul, And Body

Your sorrow over the sudden loss of your sweet mother has been heard, and we have brought it before the Lord with care and prayer. The love between a mother and a child is deep, and the void that remains when she is taken away is real and painful. It is right to grieve, and God does not despise tears that come from a loving heart.

In this season of loneliness, we want to gently point you to where true fullness is found. No other person, however kind and attentive, can fill the place in the heart that belongs to God alone. He alone is the one who can make us fully alive and not alone, even when we feel the absence of those we have loved most. As Scripture teaches, godly sorrow can lead us closer to Him, and humility before Him is the beginning of all strength and self control. He invites us to seek Him in quiet prayer, for retirement and stillness are often the place where He comforts and teaches us most clearly. Christ Himself withdrew to the mountain to pray, showing us that solitude with God is not emptiness but a harbor from turmoil.

We also hear your yearning for a primary companion to share life with, to dwell together and to provide for one another and to travel together. We will pray for you in a way that honors what God has taught about companionship and marriage. Scripture teaches that salvation is through Jesus Christ alone, and that marriage, when God gives it, is a lifelong covenant of one man and one woman, and that living together and sexual union belong within that covenant. Because we love you, we cannot ask God to bless a living arrangement outside of that design, even when the desire for closeness and for a home free from loneliness is understandable. If it is His will for you to have a spouse, we will pray that He will provide a godly husband or wife in His perfect time, one who shares faith in Christ and a love for His ways. If not, we will pray that He will surround you with the family of the church, where we can bear one another's burdens with one accord and with one soul in prayer.

We will not pray that God must act without delay according to our timetable, but that you would learn to trust His timing, which is always good. The longing for a beautiful home, for safety, for provision, for a car and for travel are not wrong in themselves, but they cannot satisfy the heart apart from Christ. We pray instead that you would first be rooted in Him, content in His provision day by day, and free from the pressure to find immediate relief from grief through another person.

So we pray for you now. Heavenly Father, we ask in the name of Jesus Christ, our only Savior, that You would comfort this grieving heart with Your presence. Fill the void with Your own nearness, grant humility and patience, and teach quiet trust in Your will. Heal the wound of loss, surround this dear one with faithful believers who will love and walk alongside with sincere care, and guard against loneliness leading to choices that would not honor You. If it is Your will, provide a godly marriage according to Your design, and until then or if otherwise, grant contentment, provision, and joy in You. Make this life fruitful for Your glory. We ask this in the mercy and grace of Christ. Amen.

We encourage you to continue in steady prayer, in the reading of Scripture, and in fellowship with the church. Do not carry this grief alone. Let mature believers know your needs, seek counsel and community, and give God time to do His healing work in you.

The pain of losing a mother who was your closest companion leaves a deep and real void, and it is understandable to feel lonely and to long to feel fully alive and not alone again. The Lord sees that ache and He draws near to the brokenhearted to comfort and heal.

In that place of loss, Scripture gives a word that came to Abram after a time of battle and uncertainty, Fear not, I am your shield and your exceeding great reward. What your heart needs most now is not first another person to fill the emptiness, but the presence of God Himself as your shield, your provider, and your reward. A godly mother can have a powerful and lasting influence for good, and that influence remains with you as a gift, yet Jesus Himself showed that our deepest and most enduring family is found among those who do the will of the Father. Your mother’s love pointed you toward that greater love, and now your fellowship with God, walking with Him as Enoch and Noah walked with Him in close daily communion, is the foundation for all other companionship.

It is dangerous when grief leads a person to become inactive and to stop living. One of the most helpful ways to grieve in a healthy way is to keep active before the Lord. Keep your mind and hands busy in useful and godly ways, develop a new skill, learn something new, take up a wholesome hobby, serve others, and walk faithfully with Christ each day. Following after the Spirit in this way leads to a contented life, while simply following after the desires of the flesh, including the desire for immediate comfort through outward things, always proves disappointing.

That is why a longing for a new primary companion needs to be brought carefully before God. A beautiful home, a reliable car, abundant provision and travels are good things to thank God for when He provides them, but they cannot create wholeness in the heart. Only Christ can. And if the companionship you desire is the kind of lifelong closeness that belongs to marriage, Scripture teaches that marriage is a covenant between one man and one woman for life, and that living together and sharing that intimate life belongs within that covenant alone. Salvation and wholeness come through Jesus Christ alone, and any relationship is only blessed as it is brought under His lordship and shaped by His Word.

There is also a sober caution to hear. Again and again people have rushed to fill a void quickly with another relationship, believing it would heal the loneliness, and a year or two later have found themselves in deeper hurt, saying they wish they had waited and sought the Lord first. Like David, who was far from perfect yet was called a man after God’s own heart because his heart was set to seek God and do His will, the first calling now is to be a person after God’s heart. Put off the old patterns that seek to satisfy the flesh and put on the new life in Christ, which is created in righteousness and true holiness, learning to be kind, tenderhearted and forgiving as God in Christ has forgiven you.

So my prayer for you is not that God would simply send someone quickly to take your mother’s place, for no one can, but that He would be your comfort and strength day by day, heal your grief in His time, teach you to walk after Him as a faithful servant and to walk with Him as a friend, keep you active and fruitful in this season, and if it is His will for you to share life in marriage, that He would in His perfect timing bring a fellow believer who loves Him above all, shares your faith and values, and will walk with you in purity and mutual care within the covenant He honors. Until then, may you find that He Himself is enough, and that in Him you are never truly alone.
