Your request for prayer has been heard, and your desire for the Holy Spirit to guard you and your family from all harm, seen and unseen, is right and biblical. God knows the attacks you have felt on your body and the deception and trickery of the enemy, and He understands your need for discernment and protection.

The Bible makes it clear that demonic spirits are real. There are well documented cases where people have suffered physical attacks, even marks on the body in places they could not have reached themselves, and even while isolated from others. There are also cases where these spirits have harassed people in deeply personal and defiling ways, showing a jealous and cruel intent. These things can be unsettling to hear, and if we focus only on the power of the enemy our faith can be weakened. Scripture lifts our eyes higher and reminds us that greater is He who is in you than he who is in the world. The enemy has power to afflict, but that power is limited and under God's authority.

Jesus showed this when evil spirits begged Him not to send them to the place of confinement before their appointed time. They are not free to do as they please. God sets boundaries and times. In the visions given to John, a great horde of demonic creatures is described as having power to sting and torment like scorpions, yet they are commanded not to harm the grass or trees but only those who do not have the seal of God on their foreheads. God makes a separation. Those who belong to Him are marked and sealed by the Holy Spirit through faith in Jesus Christ, and that seal matters. Because these enemies are spirit beings, a person cannot hide from them in a basement or a locked room and find safety that way. True safety is spiritual, found in belonging to Christ and abiding under His covering.

Part of walking in that protection is learning to recognize the nature of the battle. So often when we are under attack we react in the flesh, as if the problem is only physical or emotional or relational, and we do not see the spiritual conflict behind it. That makes us more vulnerable. Once you recognize that an attack is from the enemy, with his wily and deceptive ways, you can deal with it properly. You do not fight it with fleshly tools but with the Word of God. The Word is how we both defend ourselves and press against the strongholds the enemy tries to build in lives and families.

The family is foundational in God's design, and He desires to protect it. Scripture gives a picture of rebuilding under threat, where the people worked with a tool in one hand and a weapon in the other, and kept watch with a trumpet ready to call for help at the first sign of an attack. In a similar way you are called to keep building your life and family in the Lord while keeping watch in prayer, with the sword of the Spirit which is the Word of God always at hand. God has given you His promise to be with you as you walk in obedience to Him.

So we pray for you now in the name of Jesus. We ask the Holy Spirit to surround you and your family, to guard your bodies and minds, to expose every deception and to give you clear discernment. We ask God to place His hand upon you for healing and strength where your body has been attacked, to cover your home with His peace, and to keep you watching and keeping your garments clean as you wait for Christ. May the Lord make His separation over you evident, keep you from the torment the enemy wants to bring, and fill you with confidence not in your own ability to hide or fight, but in the One who lives in you. Continue to stay close to Jesus, to pray, to read and speak Scripture aloud in your home, and to trust that He who has redeemed you by His blood is able to keep you.
