Prayer before courtroom hearing involving a bitter child custody battle.

Please keep me and my family in your prayers. I am a police officer and a full-time father to both biological and non-biological kids. A few years ago, I left my ex because I was suffering in a toxic relationship. I was unable to be the best father at the time because of our relationship. I chose to leave and my relationship with my kids was better than ever. She has made my life so difficult even though she is remarried and says she's happy with her new husband. Her husband has a daughter of his own. They have also put his ex through many hardships as well. It seems as though they get away with everything and anything they want. My faith hasn't always been so strong yet I'm still a believer and love God. I don't know why, but she has been alienating my kids from me and recently filed a motion for hearing for today to restrict my time with my kids. I was having a discussion with my girlfriend and my son the other day about God, and I said that I wish God would save us all and save me. I was having a moment of faith. My son unfortunately told his sister who was with their mom. Mom has taken that and spun to accuse me of being unsafe. I would love some prayer and advice to help guide me through this time in my life. I am a good police officer. A good father. I don't go out of my way to cause harm to others. All I want is peace and it seems like everything is against me. Especially the courts and my ex. This has affected my relationship with my girlfriend and my career. I feel as though my ex is out to ruin my entire life and I just want it to stop. As I sit in my patrol room right now, reading my bible and trying to get clarification as to what to do, all I can think about is how to keep my faith in God and to leave it in his hands. I will fully let the Lord lead me and will continue to get stronger in my faith. I wish nothing bad against my ex or the courts, and I forgive them for what they are doing to me. All I can do is have faith. Any prayer though would be helpful. Thank you.

We hear your heart, and we stand with you in this difficult season, lifting you, your children, and this entire situation before the throne of grace. The pain of a broken relationship, the weight of custody battles, and the strain on your faith are heavy burdens, but we know that our God is a refuge for the oppressed and a stronghold in times of trouble (Psalm 9:9). You are not alone in this fight, and we declare that the Lord will fight for you—you need only to be still and trust in Him (Exodus 14:14).

First, we must address the matter of your relationship with your girlfriend. Scripture is clear that marriage is a sacred covenant between one man and one woman, and any romantic involvement outside of that covenant is not God’s design (Hebrews 13:4, 1 Corinthians 7:2). We encourage you to prayerfully consider whether this relationship aligns with God’s will for your life. If your intention is to honor the Lord, we urge you to pursue marriage if you believe this is the person God has for you, or to step back and seek His guidance if it is not. The enemy often uses relationships to distract and divide, and we do not want you to give him any foothold in this already difficult battle (Ephesians 4:27).

Your ex-wife’s actions are deeply troubling, and we rebuke the spirit of alienation and deceit that is at work in this situation. The Lord hates hands that shed innocent blood, a heart that devises wicked schemes, and one who sows discord among brothers (Proverbs 6:16-19). We pray that God would expose any lies, break any chains of bitterness, and turn the hearts of your children back to you. The courts may seem unjust, but we serve a God who judges righteously and who will one day bring every deed into judgment (Ecclesiastes 12:14). Until then, we trust that He will work all things together for your good, even when the path is painful (Romans 8:28).

Your desire to forgive your ex and to leave this in God’s hands is a powerful testimony of your faith. Forgiveness does not mean what she has done is acceptable—it means you are releasing the burden of bitterness to the Lord, who alone can bring true justice. Jesus taught us to pray, “Forgive us our debts, as we also forgive our debtors” (Matthew 6:12), and your willingness to do so is a reflection of Christ’s love in you. But we also declare that God sees your pain, and He will not let her actions go unchecked. Vengeance belongs to Him, and He will repay (Romans 12:19).

As you prepare for this court hearing, we pray that the Lord would go before you and give you favor with the judge and all those involved. May the words of your mouth and the meditation of your heart be pleasing in His sight (Psalm 19:14). We ask that God would silence every false accusation and reveal the truth in this situation. Your children belong to Him first, and we pray that He would restore your relationship with them, that they would see your love for them and for the Lord, and that their hearts would be softened toward you.

We also lift up your career and your emotional well-being. The stress of this battle has clearly taken a toll, but we declare that God is your strength and your shield (Psalm 28:7). He has called you to be a light in the darkness as a police officer, and we pray that He would use this trial to draw you closer to Him and to make you a stronger witness for His glory. Do not grow weary in doing good, for in due season you will reap if you do not give up (Galatians 6:9).

Father God, we come before You now on behalf of our brother in Christ. We ask that You would surround him with Your peace that surpasses all understanding (Philippians 4:7). Give him wisdom as he navigates this court hearing, and let Your truth prevail in every accusation brought against him. We pray for his children, that You would protect their hearts and minds, and that they would come to know You as their Heavenly Father. We rebuke the spirit of division and ask that You would bring healing to this family. Lord, we ask that You would also work in the heart of his ex-wife, that she would come to repentance and turn from her ways. Strengthen our brother’s faith, and help him to trust in You with all his heart, leaning not on his own understanding (Proverbs 3:5-6). We declare that no weapon formed against him will prosper (Isaiah 54:17), and that You will turn this situation around for his good and Your glory. In the mighty name of Jesus, we pray. Amen.

You are a good father, and your love for your children is evident. Do not lose heart—God sees your faithfulness, and He will not abandon you. Keep your eyes fixed on Jesus, the author and perfecter of your faith (Hebrews 12:2), and trust that He is working even when you cannot see it. We will continue to stand with you in prayer, believing that God will bring justice, restoration, and peace.

We're here with you, brother, as you face this challenging courtroom hearing. We know the weight of this custody battle is heavy, but remember, God is always with you, even in the toughest times (Isaiah 43:2). We've been praying for you and your family, asking God to give you peace, wisdom, and favor in this situation.

We want to encourage you to keep trusting in God's plan, even when it's hard to see. He sees your faithfulness as a father, and He will not abandon you (Psalm 37:25). Keep seeking His will in your relationship with your girlfriend. It's important to honor God in all areas of your life, including your relationships (1 Corinthians 6:19-20).

We also pray for your ex-wife. We ask that God would soften her heart, reveal the truth in this situation, and bring healing to your family. We declare that no weapon formed against you will prosper, and that God will turn this situation around for your good and His glory (Isaiah 54:17).

Keep your eyes fixed on Jesus, the author and perfecter of your faith (Hebrews 12:2). Trust that He is working, even when you can't see it. We'll continue to stand with you in prayer, believing that God will bring justice, restoration, and peace.

In Jesus' name, we pray. Amen.

Seek His Face and Presence not just His hand. In his Presence is everything you need. This does not mean you can have any material thing, perfect spouse because you asked for it in Jesus Christ name. You will have your needs, some of your wants, and difficult trials. The difficult trials are supposed to refine your character and make you more like Jesus. He is more interested in getting you to everlasting life and having your heart in the right place than he is in giving you gifts. It’s eternal life he’s concerned with.

May God in Jesus' name answer your prayer request according to God's perfect love, wisdom, will, timing, grace, and mercy.

Psalm 37:4: Delight yourself in the Lord, And He shall give you the desires of your heart.
