Prayer as our national day is coming but flags of other countries are hung to show a sign of disrespect to my countries and it is against our law to hang the flags of other countries in our countries to insult and discriminate the locals down here where you are the foreigner taken as foreign thrash.

We hear your deep concern and righteous anger as your nation’s sacred day approaches, yet some choose to dishonor it, and by extension, the people and laws of your land, by displaying foreign flags in a manner that feels like deliberate provocation. This is not merely a legal matter; it strikes at the heart of respect, sovereignty, and the order God has established in human governance. Scripture tells us in Romans 13:1-2, "Let every soul be in subjection to the higher authorities, for there is no authority except from God, and those who exist are ordained by God. Therefore he who resists the authority withstands the ordinance of God; and those who withstand will receive to themselves judgment." When laws are justly established to preserve dignity and national identity, they reflect God’s design for order and respect among peoples.

We must also acknowledge the pain in your words, being treated as "foreign trash" in your own homeland is a profound injustice. The Bible speaks strongly against such contempt. In Leviticus 19:33-34, God commands, "If a stranger lives as a foreigner with you in your land, you shall not do him wrong. The stranger who lives as a foreigner with you shall be to you as the native-born among you, and you shall love him as yourself; for you lived as foreigners in the land of Egypt. I am Yahweh your God." Even foreigners are to be treated with dignity, let alone citizens in their own land! The disrespect you describe is not only unlawful but sinful, for it sows division and dishonor where God calls for unity and mutual respect.

Yet we must also guard our hearts. In our zeal for justice, we must not let bitterness take root. Ephesians 4:26-27 warns, "Be angry, and don’t sin. Don’t let the sun go down on your wrath, and don’t give place to the devil." Anger at injustice is righteous, but it must be channeled through prayer, wisdom, and godly action, not hatred or retaliation. We must pray for those who act in ignorance or malice, that their hearts would be softened and their eyes opened to the truth of their actions.

Let us come before the Lord together in prayer:

Heavenly Father, we come before You with heavy hearts, lifting up this nation and its people as their national day approaches. Lord, You are the God of all nations, and You have established authorities and boundaries for a purpose. We ask that You would bring conviction to the hearts of those who seek to dishonor this land through disrespectful displays of foreign flags. Let them see the error of their ways and turn from their actions.

Father, we pray for wisdom and courage for the leaders of this nation. Give them the strength to uphold the laws You have ordained for order and justice. Let Your peace reign in the streets, and let unity be restored among the people. Heal the wounds of those who feel disrespected and marginalized in their own land. Remind them that they are fearfully and wonderfully made in Your image, and no act of man can diminish their worth in Your eyes.

Lord, we ask that You would soften the hearts of those who act in ignorance or malice. Let them see the beauty of this nation and its people, and may they come to respect the laws and customs that reflect Your design for order. We pray that this national day would be a time of celebration, not division, and that Your name would be glorified in all things.

We also pray for the Christians in this land. Let them be a light in the midst of darkness, showing love and grace even to those who disrespect them. May they stand firm in their faith, knowing that their citizenship is ultimately in heaven, and may they be instruments of Your peace and reconciliation.

We ask all these things in the mighty name of Jesus Christ, the King of kings and Lord of lords, who alone has the power to change hearts and bring justice. Amen.

To you who have shared this burden, we encourage you to continue standing for what is right, but do so with a heart that reflects Christ’s love. Pray for those who disrespect your nation, for in doing so, you follow the example of Jesus, who prayed for His enemies even as they crucified Him. Trust in God’s justice, for He sees all and will not be mocked. Galatians 6:7 reminds us, "Don’t be deceived. God is not mocked, for whatever a man sows, that he will also reap." Let this truth bring you comfort and hope.

Finally, if you have not placed your trust in Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior, we urge you to consider the words of Acts 4:12, "There is salvation in none other, for neither is there any other name under heaven, that is given among men, by which we must be saved." It is only through Jesus that we have access to God and the hope of eternal life. If you feel led to surrender your life to Him, we would be honored to guide you in that decision. Your worth is not defined by the actions of others but by the love of Christ, who died for you. Stand firm in that truth.

If flying foreign flags in this way is against your nation's law, one concrete step might be to calmly report it to the proper authorities, not out of anger, but as a responsible act to uphold the order and respect your country deserves. Sometimes taking that small, lawful action can help shift a sense of powerlessness.

We also encourage you to focus on what you can build up this National Day: perhaps connect with neighbors or a local community group that shares your love for your homeland, and celebrate the traditions and values that unite you. Pouring energy into strengthening your own community can be a quiet, powerful answer to disrespect.

And while we pray for the situation, we also pray for your heart, that bitterness won't take root, and that God's peace will guard you. Let's bring this to Him.

Lord Jesus, we lift up our friend who feels trampled and unwelcome in their own land. Surround them with your presence and remind them deeply of their true worth. Grant them wisdom if they should act, and calm their spirit when the offense lingers. We also ask you to work in the hearts of those who show disrespect, open their eyes to the harm they cause. When a man flies a flag of defiance, thinking to honor his nation by despising his neighbor, he stands under a law of judgment he himself cannot bear. Enter not into judgment with your God, for in His sight no man living can be justified by his patriotism or his contempt. The smoking flax of your anger He will not quench if you turn to Him, but if you cling to that rag of pride, you remain a water-logged hulk, unfit for any harbor of peace.

Tear down that old black flag of bitterness, but do not merely change the flag while the vessel lies rotting with the dry rot of self-righteousness. An old sea captain once heard me say that he must not only run up the blood-red cross of Christ, but scuttle the whole decaying ship of his former life. The new vessel Jesus launches in regeneration sails under the banner of atoning blood, convoyed by Irresistible Grace, bound not for an earthly kingdom but for Heaven itself. Your grievance against foreigners is but the barnacle on a hull that must sink. Let it go.

There is discrimination in the parable of the sower, not all ground receives the seed and bears fruit. Some hearts lack moisture, full of stony pride, and the Word withers there. Ask yourself whether your anger springs from a soil that will soon be scorched by the sun of God's holiness. For His own name’s sake, lest it be polluted, He saves sinners who abandon their tattered flags and fall at the cross. Wave no standard but Christ’s, and let Him launch you anew.

When you see flags hung as a slight against your nation and your own dignity, a fire kindles within. Anger is a keen passion, a fierce fire, but know that it is not given to us for tearing down our neighbor, but for checking lawlessness and rousing the negligent. If the law forbids such display, then let your anger be the spur to seek a just remedy, not with clamor or self-avenging, but with a calm insistence that honors God. For if you act violently in word or deed, you only mar your own soul and make yourself ugly before heaven, like a man drunk on wrath.

Consider this: you are treated as a stranger and contemptible. Yet the faithful have always been strangers in this world, finding little they longed for and much that is hostile. What great good if you bear this insult with lowliness! The humble heart is not easily troubled by envy or the slights of men. Remember your own many trespasses against God, for which you need boundless mercy. When you are wronged unjustly, you stand in the place of one who may receive forgiveness for far greater debts. If your neighbor acts wickedly, it is his own soul he wounds; but you, if you endure in meekness and guard your tongue, store up a reward and are taught a divine gentleness.

Do not let the disrespect of others rob you of the rest of your soul. Anger, like a wild horse, must be bridled; clip its wings so that you may act with sober wisdom. If you can, seek the correction of this public sin with patience, leaving the fruit to God. And pray for those who insult you, for they know not what they do. In this way, you turn the sting of wrath upon the true enemy, your own sin, and you honor the Lord, who is present in every place, and who sees the affliction of the lowly.

Flags and national pride stir deep loyalties, and it is painful when what you hold dear is treated with contempt. But the Scripture reveals a pattern: when a people honor God and place Him at the center of their common life, He brings strength and blessing. When they turn and refuse Him, distress follows. What you are seeing and feeling may be a part of that unraveling.

Yet being treated as foreign rubbish, as if you do not belong in your own land, is a particular kind of grief. Our own hearts can become so caught up in the insult that bitterness takes root. It is an offense to the Lord to grumble about what we have given Him, our allegiance, our labor, our prayers, as if He owed us a comfortable place. If you cannot offer these things to Him with joy, it would be better not to offer them at all. But if you bring them in trust, He sees.

There is a day coming, a day of darkness and gloominess, a day of His anger poured out on unrighteousness. That day of the Lord will make every earthly banner and every human decree seem very small. Yet beyond that judgment there lies a glorious day: the day when the Branch of the Lord, Jesus the Messiah, will reign, and righteousness will cover the earth. In that day He will save, He will rejoice over His people with singing, and no one will treat them as trash.

You have asked for prayer, and that is the right impulse. Seek the Lord, seek righteousness, seek meekness. It may be that you shall be hidden in the day of His anger. Do not let your heart be weighed down with the cares of this life so that the day catches you unprepared. The heavens already declare His glory; day after day they pour out speech. If you look around, He can speak to you even through the very things that now wound you.

We are in a day prophesied long ago, a day when light is neither clear nor dark, a day in which God is doing something deeper than national pride can comprehend. In that day Israel would again dwell in their land, and the Lord would defend them. But that day also moves toward the moment when He will take out His people entirely. Your true citizenship is not in any earthly nation, but in the kingdom that cannot be shaken.

So instead of fixing your eyes on the flags that insult, fix them on the coming day of the Lord. Let your prayer be cleansed of complaint and filled with a longing for His righteous reign. Then you will be like those who, even in a day of grief and desperate sorrow, see the harvest begin to grow. The God who set apart the seventh day for rest and acknowledgment has also set apart a future day of feasting and gladness for all who trust in Him. That day is nearer now than when you first believed.

We are so grateful you entrusted us with the burden on your heart as your nation’s day of remembrance drew near. It weighed heavily on us to stand with you in prayer against the deliberate dishonor shown by the display of foreign flags meant to mock and degrade the people and laws of your homeland.
