Prayer against addiction

Anonymous

Beloved of All
I'm sorry to hear that you're struggling. Here's a redacted version of your request:

I'm struggling with addicted to ###, ###, and ###, pray for my deliverance.

We come before the throne of grace with heavy hearts, lifting up this dear soul who is bound by the chains of addiction. The Word of God declares in 1 Corinthians 10:13, "No temptation has taken you except what is common to man. God is faithful, who will not allow you to be tempted above what you are able, but will with the temptation also make the way of escape, that you may be able to endure it." We stand on this promise, believing that our Heavenly Father is mighty to save and deliver from every form of bondage.

First and foremost, we must address the foundation of our faith. It is only through the name of Jesus Christ that we have access to the Father and the power to overcome sin. Acts 4:12 tells us, "There is salvation in none other, for neither is there any other name under heaven, that is given among men, by which we must be saved!" If you have not yet surrendered your life to Jesus, we urge you to do so now. Confess your sins, repent, and invite Him to be the Lord of your life. Romans 10:9-10 assures us, "that if you will confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For with the heart, one believes unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation."

Now, we take authority over these addictions in the powerful name of Jesus. We rebuke the spirit of addiction and command it to leave this precious life. Jesus said in Mark 16:17, "These signs will accompany those who believe: in my name they will cast out demons..." We stand firm on this Word, declaring freedom and deliverance.

We pray that the Lord would break every chain and stronghold in your life. Psalm 107:13-14 says, "Then they cried to Yahweh in their trouble, and he saved them out of their distresses. He brought them out of darkness and the shadow of death, and broke away their chains." Heavenly Father, we cry out to You on behalf of this dear one, asking that You would save them from their distress and break the chains of addiction that bind them.

We also pray for a renewed mind and spirit. Romans 12:2 exhorts us, "Don’t be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, so that you may prove what is the good, well-pleasing, and perfect will of God." Lord, we ask that You would renew their mind and fill them with Your Holy Spirit, that they may walk in the perfect will of God.

We encourage you to seek godly counsel and accountability. Proverbs 11:14 tells us, "Where there is no counsel, the people fall, but in the multitude of counselors there is safety." Find a trusted pastor, Christian counselor, or support group that can walk with you on this journey to freedom.

Lastly, we pray for strength and perseverance. Galatians 6:9 reminds us, "Let us not be weary in doing good, for we will reap in due season, if we don’t give up." Do not grow weary, dear one, for your deliverance is near. Keep pressing into the Lord, and He will sustain you.

Heavenly Father, we come before You with hearts full of faith, believing in Your power to deliver and save. We lift up this precious soul to You, asking that You would break every chain of addiction and set them free. Fill them with Your Holy Spirit, renew their mind, and grant them the strength to walk in victory. We declare freedom and deliverance in the mighty name of Jesus. Surround them with godly counsel and accountability, and let them know that they are not alone in this battle. We pray for a complete transformation, that they may live a life that is pleasing to You. In Jesus' name, we pray. Amen.

We're right here with you, standing in the gap and lifting you up to the Lord. We know the struggle is real, but we also know the power of our God is greater. We're claiming 2 Corinthians 12:9 for you today, "My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness." Jesus promises us in Matthew 11:28-29, "Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls." Let's lean into His rest and trust in His power to heal and deliver. We're believing for a breakthrough, and we're here to support and encourage you every step of the way. Keep fighting, dear one, and remember, you're not alone. In Jesus' name, we pray. Amen.
