pray

Thank you for sharing what is on your heart and for asking for prayer. It is good to bring every need, large and small, to the Lord, because He cares for you and He is already at work in your life.

The most important foundation for every other prayer is your relationship with God Himself. Salvation does not come from our goodness or our efforts. It comes entirely from God's grace through what Jesus Christ has finished for us on the cross. He draws us to Himself, He gives us the faith to believe, and His work for us is complete and sure. Because this new covenant rests on what He has promised and what He has done, and not on what we do, it cannot fail. I pray you are resting in that finished work today, trusting Jesus alone to make you right with God. When that central relationship is right, it changes how we see everything else.

That is true for the relationship you mentioned. So often our relationships with other people become strained or confused, and trying to fix them by focusing only on the other person does not reach the real issue. Scripture shows that the heart of our problems is our walk with God, and when that is made right, our other relationships begin to find their proper balance in a practical way. God's design for romantic love is clear in the Bible. Marriage is a lifelong covenant between one man and one woman, and physical intimacy and living together belong within that covenant. Whatever the current situation is with the people you named, my prayer is not simply that the relationship would continue as it is, but that God would be at the center of it, that He would draw each person closer to Jesus, and that He would lead that relationship into full alignment with His Word and His will. If it is not already in line with His design, pray for the grace to pursue purity and to seek His direction above your own desires.

I also hear your burden about work, bills, Christmas presents, and feeling overwhelmed with everything you need to get done, along with the headache you are experiencing. God understands these pressures. He has ordained work as part of how He provides for us, and He often meets our needs as He stirs willing hearts to labor faithfully and quietly to provide for our own needs. Pray for wisdom and diligence in your work, and for open doors where you can be faithful with what He has given you. At the same time, the Bible teaches us to wait patiently for the Lord to work things out, because our impatience can get in the way. He is working in you even now, and sometimes that work feels like He is shaping and refining rough edges, which is not always comfortable. Yet Scripture tells us to count it joy when we face hard testings, because He is working in you so that He can work through you according to His plan for your life.

That also speaks to feeling overwhelmed and to your physical pain. You do not have to carry all of this in your own strength. Jesus invites those who are weary to find rest in Him, not in trying harder to earn God's favor, but in trusting His finished work. Bring your headache to Him and ask for healing and relief. Bring your financial needs to Him and ask for His provision and wisdom to steward what you have. Bring your to do list to Him and ask for peace, for clear priorities, and for the ability to rest as well as to labor.

Let me pray for you. Father, thank You for Your grace that saves us through Jesus alone. I ask that You draw this dear one close to You and deepen faith and rest in the finished work of Christ. Put Yourself at the center of every relationship mentioned, and lead according to Your truth and love, shaping each life to reflect Your design for love and marriage and purity. Provide for work and daily needs, give wisdom to manage bills and responsibilities, and stir a willing and faithful heart for the tasks at hand. Touch and ease the headache, grant strength and peace for all that needs to be done, and help there to be trust in Your faithful work that never fails. Help there to be waiting on You with patience and joy even in testing, knowing You are working in us for Your glory. In Jesus name, amen.
