We come before the Lord with heavy hearts, lifting you and your family up in prayer. The weariness and fear you feel are real, and we stand with you in the name of Jesus Christ, who is our strength in times of trouble. First, we want to acknowledge that your husband’s absence and refusal to answer your calls are deeply concerning. The Bible tells us in 1 Peter 3:7, "You husbands, in the same way, live with your wives according to knowledge, giving honor to the woman as the weaker vessel, as also being joint heirs of the grace of life, that your prayers may not be hindered." His actions are not only neglectful but dishonoring to you and to the covenant of marriage God has established.
We also must address the reality of living with a functioning alcoholic. Scripture is clear that drunkenness is a sin, as Ephesians 5:18 warns, "Don’t be drunken with wine, in which is dissipation, but be filled with the Spirit." The company he keeps is also a matter of concern, for as 1 Corinthians 15:33 reminds us, "Don’t be deceived! Evil companionships corrupt good morals." We rebuke the spirit of addiction and the influence of ungodly friendships in his life, and we pray for his deliverance from these strongholds.
In this moment, we declare that you are not alone. The Lord sees your exhaustion and the weight you carry as a mother nurturing your children. Psalm 55:22 says, "Cast your burden on Yahweh, and he will sustain you. He will never allow the righteous to be moved." We pray that God would sustain you, give you supernatural strength, and fill your heart with peace that surpasses all understanding.
Father God, we come before You in the mighty name of Jesus Christ, the only name by which we can be saved and the only mediator between God and man. We lift up this sister and her children to You, asking for Your divine protection and provision. Lord, we ask that You would soften her husband’s heart and draw him back to You and to his responsibilities as a husband and father. Break the chains of alcohol and ungodly influences in his life, and replace them with a hunger for Your Word and Your presence.
We pray for wisdom and discernment for her as she navigates this difficult season. Give her the words to speak truth in love and the courage to set boundaries that honor You. Provide for her and her children’s needs, both physically and emotionally, and surround them with godly community that can offer support and encouragement.
Lord, we rebuke the spirit of fear and anxiety that seeks to overwhelm her. Remind her that You are her refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble (Psalm 46:1). Fill her with Your peace and assurance that You are working all things together for good, even when the path is unclear.
We also pray for her children, that You would cover them with Your love and protection. Guard their hearts and minds, and let them feel Your presence in a tangible way. Help them to grow in faith and trust in You, even amid uncertainty.
Father, we ask that You would bring restoration to this marriage. Let Your love and grace flow into their home, healing wounds and rebuilding trust. May this family be a testimony of Your redeeming power, and may they grow closer to You and to one another through this trial. We ask all these things in the powerful name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior. Amen.
