We join you in lifting up your struggle with anxiety and the habit of nail-biting, which has become a physical manifestation of the inner turmoil you are experiencing. It is clear that you recognize this as a spiritual battle, and we commend you for turning to the Father in repentance and seeking deliverance in the name of Jesus. This is the right path, for Scripture tells us, *"Don’t be anxious for anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your thoughts in Christ Jesus"* (Philippians 4:6-7, WEB).
Anxiety is not from God, for He has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power, love, and self-discipline (2 Timothy 1:7, WEB). The habit you struggle with is a sign of the flesh responding to the weight of worry, but we know that *"the one who is in you is greater than the one who is in the world"* (1 John 4:4, WEB). You have already taken the first step by repenting, and now we stand with you in faith, believing that God is breaking this stronghold over your life. The curse you mention has no authority over you, for *"Christ redeemed us from the curse of the law, having become a curse for us"* (Galatians 3:13, WEB). You are no longer bound by it—in Jesus’ name, it is broken!
We also want to encourage you to replace this habit with the Word of God. When anxiety rises, speak Scripture over yourself. Meditate on promises like *"Cast all your anxiety on him, because he cares for you"* (1 Peter 5:7, WEB). Let the truth of God’s love and sovereignty fill your mind instead of worry. And remember, this is a process of renewal—*"Don’t be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, so that you may prove what is the good, well-pleasing, and perfect will of God"* (Romans 12:2, WEB).
Let us pray together for you:
Heavenly Father, we thank You that You are a God who hears and delivers. We lift up Your child before You, who has come in repentance and faith, seeking freedom from the grip of anxiety and the habit it has formed. Lord, we declare that anxiety has no place in their life, for You have called them to peace, to trust, and to rest in You. Break every chain of worry and fear in the mighty name of Jesus. Fill them with Your Holy Spirit, who brings comfort, self-control, and the fruit of patience. Replace their nail-biting with prayer, with declarations of Your Word, and with worship. Let them experience the peace that surpasses all understanding, guarding their heart and mind in Christ Jesus.
We rebuke the spirit of anxiety and command it to flee in Jesus’ name. No weapon formed against them shall prosper, and every tongue that rises against them in judgment they shall condemn (Isaiah 54:17, WEB). Father, let them walk in the freedom You have purchased for them on the cross. Strengthen them daily, remind them of Your presence, and let them see this victory as a testimony of Your faithfulness.
We ask all this in the powerful and matchless name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior, who has overcome the world. Amen and amen.
Walk in this truth: *"For God didn’t give us a spirit of fear, but of power, love, and self-control"* (2 Timothy 1:7, WEB). You are not alone in this—God is with you, and He is faithful to complete the work He has begun in you (Philippians 1:6, WEB). Keep pressing into Him, and you *will* see the breakthrough. We are standing with you in faith!
