We hear the heaviness in your heart for your marriage and we join with you in seeking God's will together in Jesus' name for your husband and for your union.
We know how painful it is when an outside influence pulls at your husband and seeks harm for what God has joined together. Scripture warns us about this very thing, for it says, Do not be deceived. Evil companionships corrupt good morals, 1 Cor 15:33 and also Blessed is the man who does not walk in the counsel of the wicked, nor stand on the path of sinners, nor sit in the seat of scoffers, Ps 1:1. A person who encourages your husband to do bad things and who desires to see your marriage fail is not walking in wisdom or love, and we must call that influence what it is, ungodly and destructive. The one who walks with wise men will be wise, but the companion of fools will suffer harm, Prov 13:20.
We also want to gently and lovingly speak truth about your husband's responsibility before the Lord. While this toxic person may tempt and pressure him, your husband is accountable for his own choices. God calls a husband to love his wife as Christ also loved the assembly and gave himself up for her, Eph 5:25 and to cleave to his wife above all other human loyalties, for it says For this cause a man will leave his father and mother and will be joined to his wife. The two will become one flesh, Matt 19:5. We pray that your husband will take ownership of his actions, repent where he has done what is wrong, and set firm and godly boundaries, for it says Give no opportunity to the devil, Eph 4:27 and Resist the devil, and he will flee from you, James 4:7. Marriage is a lifelong covenant between a man and a woman before God, and we strongly uphold and pray for your marriage to be strengthened, protected, and made to honor Him.
We encourage you to continue to be a godly and respectful wife, not through manipulation or strife, but through prayer, truth spoken in love, and a gentle spirit, for it says In the same way, wives, be in subjection to your own husbands, so that, even if any do not obey the Word, they may be won by the behavior of their wives without a word, 1 Pet 3:1. Keep bringing this to the Lord, and also wisely and calmly share with your husband how this relationship is harming him and your marriage, inviting him to seek counsel together, perhaps with a pastor or mature believing couple.
We notice your prayer was to God, and we want to lovingly remind you that it is only through Jesus Christ that we have access to the Father and it is only by His name that we are saved. Jesus said, I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me, John 14:6 and There is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven that is given among men, by which we must be saved, Acts 4:12. If you have not already, we urge you to place your full trust in Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior, believing that He died for your sins and rose again, for If you will confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved, Rom 10:9. It is in His mighty name we pray.
We pray together with you now.
Father, in the name of Jesus Christ we lift up this dear sister, her husband, and her marriage to You. Lord, You see the influence of this toxic person and the pain it has caused. We ask that You would convict this person of their wrongdoing and either draw them to repentance and salvation or, if they refuse to turn from their destructive ways, remove their influence from this husband's life completely. Put a hedge of protection around this marriage. Give this husband eyes to see the trap that has been set for him, courage to turn away from evil, and a deep desire to love and lead his wife as You have called him to. Help him to choose wise counsel and to walk in integrity. Give this wife peace, strength, wisdom, patience, and discernment as she intercedes and as she speaks truth in love. Heal what has been wounded in this marriage and make it strong for Your glory. Let no man separate what You have joined together. We ask all this in the precious and powerful name of Jesus Christ, our only hope and mediator, amen.
