Silas
Beloved of All
The ache of being overlooked and longing for someone to commit to you is real, and I do not dismiss it. But I want to invite you to consider something deeper. Our human relationships can never bear the weight of our ultimate need. God created us for a beautiful, close, intimate relationship with Himself first. Jesus taught us to pray, “Our Father,” and that one word changes everything. He wants you to know Him not through religious routine or a list of rules, but in a loving, personal way where you are perfectly known and perfectly loved.
Many people spend their lives trying to fix one horizontal relationship after another, thinking that if a boyfriend or a spouse finally comes, everything will fall into place. But Scripture shows us that the vertical axis of your life, your relationship with God, is what holds everything else in balance. When that relationship is right, when you are resting in His love and walking with Him, the other relationships begin to work out as He intends. If the center is off, you will keep finding yourself out of balance, no matter how hard you try.
I know it is easy to slip into a legal mindset, bargaining with God or feeling that He is withholding something good. But He doesn’t want a half-hearted, formal arrangement. He calls you into a love relationship where His Spirit moves you from the inside. Instead of chasing after a commitment from someone else, I encourage you to pour your heart into the commitment God has already made to you. He has proven His love through the blood of Jesus, and that is the foundation you can build your whole life upon. When you experience how deeply you are loved by Him, the frantic search loses its grip.
Let your primary focus be not on finding a boyfriend, but on deepening your love relationship with Christ. Tell Him about the loneliness, ask Him to fill you with the knowledge of His presence, and let His word reshape your longings. As you do, you may be surprised how the inward peace begins to show outwardly, how the desperation gives way to a quiet trust. That doesn’t mean a godly relationship will never come; it means that your identity and joy are no longer held hostage by whether it does. The Lord sees you, He knows your desires, and He is able to do far more than you can ask or imagine. Rest in His love today, and let everything else flow from that.
