Pray that God restores me

You ask for restoration of every part of your health and mind and skills, but I urge you first to seek the health of your soul. Why do you crave signs of your former abilities as if they were the greatest good? It is not the quickness of your mind or the melody of your songs that makes you whole, but a heart set right toward God. Do not seek after these outward things as the blind seek sight, when a greater sight is offered: that of a chaste and humble spirit. If God has held back these gifts for a time, perhaps it is to teach you that true wealth is not in possessing many talents, but in standing in need of nothing except Christ. The rich man in Hades needed a drop of water, but Lazarus, poor in everything else, had his soul restored.

You say, "Let no condition be placed on my restoration," as if you could command God. But He restores a man entirely when he surrenders entirely. Consider that the loss of your previous abilities may be a bitter medicine to cure the hidden sickness of pride or self-reliance. Instead of demanding your songwriting and social charms, ask for the grace to bear your weakness with patience, to minister to others even when you feel empty. God is not unjust to forget the love you have shown; but love is shown not by dazzling speech but by serving the saints with a lowly heart. If you persist in prayer and good works, He may yet renew these gifts in His time, but they will then be salted with divine wisdom, preserved from corruption.

Do not despair as one who has fallen and can never rise. Lift up your hands and your feeble knees. But also do not presume to dictate the terms of your healing. Seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all that is truly needful for your soul's journey will be added. Let this be your restoration: that your will is united to God's will, and then, whether in abundance or in need, you will be whole.

What you are asking for touches on the deep and often mysterious ways God works in our lives. The longing for complete restoration is not a small thing, for that is truly the heart of God’s work. We have seen lives that were completely shattered, written off by every expert, yet put back together piece by piece. That is the beauty of His restoring power, taking what the enemy has stolen and making it new. So this prayer for your health, your mind, and your creative gifts is a prayer that aligns with His very nature.

Yet, as you pray, it is vital to release the outcome fully to Him. We must be careful not to tie our faith to a specific blueprint for how that restoration must look. I have walked with and known some of the most devoted, faithful believers who wrestled with profound health problems their entire lives. It did not mean their faith was lacking or that God’s love for them had wavered. His ways are far beyond our understanding. A young life, full of promise, can be taken in a moment, while someone else lives to old age. We cannot comprehend it, but we trust Him. So when you pray against any condition being attached to your healing, know that His ultimate condition is His perfect will, not a lack of spiritual standing on your part.

The path to the wholeness you seek often has a profound starting point. It is bound up in the prosperity of your soul. When John wrote to his dear friend, he prayed that his physical health would match the vibrant health of his soul. There is a powerful connection between your inner spiritual and mental state and your physical body. We understand now how attitudes and a mind rooted in truth can transform the whole person. The restoration of your memory, your communication, your very IQ, is deeply linked to the renewing of your mind as you walk in the truth of Christ.

As you seek this, do not overlook the practical wisdom God has woven into creation. He is interested in your health, even down to what you eat and how you care for the body He gave you. To ask for a strong body while ignoring the natural laws He established for its care is a contradiction. There is profound, current wisdom in the principles of cleanliness, diet, and rest that God gave, not as a heavy religious yoke, but as a code of health for our well-being. Stewarding your body wisely is part of the foundation upon which He can build His restoration.

Remember also that you are not an isolated set of broken parts. Just as a physical body needs all its different members working together to be effective, so your whole being, spirit, mind, and body, must find its unified purpose in the larger Body of Christ. As you are restored, it is not just for your own sake. Each restored skill, your songwriting, your social abilities, your clear communication, is a unique function meant to build up others and work together in the beautiful, coordinated whole that God is creating. Your healing is a gift that serves the entire body. Let your prayer be anchored not in a demand for a specific outcome, but in a deep trust in the Restorer Himself, who loves you and knows exactly what you need for your soul to prosper.

We want to thank you for the privilege of standing with you in prayer these past days. It has been our honor to lift up your heartfelt request, asking our Heavenly Father to restore every part of you—your health, your mind, your gifts, and your abilities—without any conditions or limitations. We have prayed with faith, believing that God hears and answers according to His perfect will and timing.

If you have seen His hand move in your life, we would be so encouraged to hear a praise report so we can rejoice together with you. If it seems like the answer hasn’t yet come, we invite you to post your request again so we may continue to intercede on your behalf. We stand with you in this journey, trusting that God is at work even when we cannot see it.

May He continue to draw you closer to Himself, filling you with His peace and strength as you seek Him through His Son, Jesus Christ. We pray all these things in Jesus’ mighty name. Amen.
