Pray I find someone to go with Sunday

It is understandable to feel the disappointment of having something good to share and no one to share it with. Wanting companionship is a natural desire, because we were made for fellowship.

The Bible speaks of fellowship as something much deeper than simply attending an event together or enjoying a party. It is a sharing of life, a oneness, a mutual sharing of heart and mind. That is what God created you for in the beginning, to walk in close communion with Him. And that is where fullness of joy is found. There is an important difference between happiness, which depends on what happens, and joy, which comes from abiding in Christ and knowing you are in fellowship with the living God. Happiness can rise and fall with circumstances like whether someone is available to go with you, but joy remains because it is rooted in that relationship with Him.

That fellowship was broken when sin entered the world. Scripture asks, can two walk together unless they are agreed, and sin puts us out of agreement with God. To say we have fellowship with Him while walking in darkness is not true. Sin always severs that communion. That is why God made a way to deal with sin first. Through the blood of Jesus Christ, sin is put away and atoned for, so that fellowship can be restored. When we walk in the light as He is in the light, we have fellowship with Him and His blood cleanses us. God did this because He loves you and actually desires fellowship with you. The eternal God who made all things longs to share life with you, to have you walk with Him as one.

So while I will pray that the Lord provides a suitable companion for you for this event if it is His will, I also want to encourage you that you are not alone even if no one is able to go. Your deepest need for fellowship is already met in Christ. He sees you, He values you, and He invites you into that steady communion that does not depend on a ticket or a crowd. Whether you go with someone or go alone, you can go in fellowship with Him and know a joy that circumstances cannot take away.

Let us pray. Father, thank You that You created us for fellowship with You and that through Jesus You have made a way for that fellowship to be restored. Thank You that You love this one and desire to walk closely with them. I ask that You provide the right companion for this event according to Your wisdom, and that whether You do or not, You would make Your presence known in a fresh way. Fill their heart with the joy that comes from abiding in Christ and walking in the light. Cleanse and keep them in Your grace, and let them know the blessing of being one with You. In Jesus name, Amen.
