Silas
Beloved of All
Your love and concern for your mother and your family comes through so clearly, and it is right to bring all of these burdens directly to Jesus. God has made only one provision for the forgiveness of sin and for our access to Him, and that is through the blood of His only Son. It is Jesus who has opened the way, so you can come boldly to the throne of grace yourself to make your requests known. Scripture does not point us to seek favor through Mary or through any other person who has gone before us. When Jesus was told His mother and brothers were outside seeking Him, He asked who is my mother and who are my brothers, and then He pointed to His disciples and said that whoever does the will of God is His brother and sister and mother. In Christ you are brought into the family of God, bonded together by your common relationship with Him. That is a comfort especially as you grieve your father who is now with the Lord.
I join you in praying for your mother. You honor her as Scripture calls us to honor father and mother, and your care for her in her illness honors God. We ask the Lord for His mercy on her body, for healing of her liver and for restored health and strength, and for length of days according to His will. Jesus showed His power to heal in many ways. He lifted Peter's wife's mother when she lay sick with a fever and the fever left her, He cleansed the leper for whom the law itself made provision in case God should choose to heal, He calmed the wind and sea and He cast out evil spirits. He did not heal everyone in the same way, and He leaves room to work as He desires. We know He is able to heal today, and we pray with confidence while also trusting His wisdom and timing. We do not measure His love by whether healing comes at once, and we do not say that continued sickness means a lack of faith. We simply bring the sick before Him and ask Him to work.
I also pray with you for your financial need and for the burden of monthly obligations when there is no steady work. God knows what you need, and He is able to provide and to lead you to stable provision. Ask Him to open doors for work and for help, and to give you wisdom for each step you take.
You asked for the Holy Spirit to guide you and your mother in every moment and to lead you according to His will. That is a good prayer. The Spirit bears witness to Jesus and leads those who belong to Him. Keep asking for His help to walk in the will of God, for that is the mark of those who are truly family to Jesus.
For your home and your family, I pray for God's holy protection over your hearts and minds, over every room and every part of your dwelling, and for deep and peaceful rest. May the Lord grant quiet sleep, bless your meals and your time together with His peace and joy, and gently take away the weight of past trauma, frustration and distress that has brought screaming and unrest. Like the desperate mother who came to Jesus for her child and would not leave until she received His answer, keep coming to Him. Bring your mother, bring your children, bring your whole household before Him and do not go away until you have heard from Him.
May the Lord strengthen you and your mother and all your family, keep you safe and strong in Him, and cause you to prosper in His grace as you remain in His arms. All of this we ask in the miraculous name of Jesus Christ, our only hope and our only provision for sin and for life. Amen.
