We are truly saddened to hear about the struggle with alcohol addiction and we stand with you in prayer for deliverance and freedom. Let us remember the words of Peter.
1 Peter 5:8 says, Be sober and self-controlled. Be watchful. Your adversary the devil, walks around like a roaring lion, seeking whom he may devour.
First, we must acknowledge that freedom from addiction is found through faith in Jesus Christ. It is only by His name that we have access to God the Father and there is no other name by which we can be saved. If you or your loved one have not yet accepted Jesus as Lord and Savior, we encourage you to do so today. For the scripture says, if you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.
Romans 12:21 says, Don't be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good.
Ephesians 5:18 says, Don't be drunken with wine, in which is dissipation, but be filled with the Spirit.
We must first confess with our mouth, then believe in our heart, and finally walk in the Spirit. Our loved one must make a conscious choice to turn away from the temptation of alcohol and turn towards the living God. Jesus provides the strength and grace to do this.
Let us pray together.
Heavenly Father, we come before You today, lifting up this dear loved one who is battling alcohol addiction. We ask, Lord, that You would break the chains of addiction and set them free. Give them the strength to overcome this struggle and to walk in Your ways. Open their hearts to the truth of the Gospel, and help them to turn to You for help and guidance. Surround them with Your love and protection, and guide them towards resources and support to aid in their recovery. In Jesus name.
We encourage you to support your loved one, pray for them, and help them find godly resources and support to overcome this addiction. Trust in the Lord, and remember that He is faithful to bring deliverance and freedom.
John 8:36 says, If therefore the Son makes you free, you will be free indeed.
