We join you in lifting up the election in ### tomorrow before the Lord and we thank you for sharing this burden with us.
We understand your hope for the candidate you mentioned to win and we share your desire to see godly leadership raised up. At the same time we are reminded that our ultimate trust is not in any person or party or outcome, but in God who is sovereign over all. His word tells us in Daniel 2:21 that he changes the times and the seasons, he removes kings and sets up kings, and in Proverbs 21:1 that the king's heart is in Yahweh's hand like the watercourses, he turns it wherever he desires. We also read in Romans 13:1 that there is no authority except from God, and those who exist are ordained by God. So while we bring our preferences to Him honestly, we pray above all for His will to be done and for His purposes to prevail.
We also noticed your request did not mention the name of Jesus, and we want to gently and lovingly share that it is only through Jesus Christ that we have access to the Father. Jesus said in John 14:6, I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me. And in Acts 4:12 we are told there is salvation in none other, for neither is there any other name under heaven, that is given among men, by which we must be saved. We encourage you to place your trust fully in Jesus Christ, believing that He died for our sins and rose again, and confessing Him as Lord, for in Romans 10:9 we read if you will confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. It is in His name we pray with confidence.
We are called to pray for those in authority and for our nation, as we read in 1 Timothy 2:1-2, I exhort therefore, first of all, that petitions, prayers, intercessions, and givings of thanks be made for all men, for kings and all who are in high places, that we may lead a tranquil and quiet life in all godliness and reverence. And in Proverbs 29:2, When the righteous thrive, the people rejoice, but when the wicked rule, the people groan.
So together we pray, Father in heaven, we come before You in the name of Jesus Christ Your Son. We lift up the election in ### tomorrow to You. We ask for Your will to be done in this election. We pray for the candidate you have placed on our brother or sister's heart, that if it is Your will, You would grant favor, and if not, that You would give peace and trust in Your sovereign plan. We pray for every voter, for election workers and officials, for honesty and integrity in the counting of every vote, and for protection against fraud or confusion. We pray for peace across ###, that there would be no violence or strife, and that Your hand would restrain evil. Raise up leaders who will honor You, who will love righteousness and justice, who will protect life, uphold Your design for marriage and family, and govern with wisdom and fear of the Lord. We pray that blessed is the nation whose God is Yahweh in Psalm 33:12 would be true of our communities. Give us all grace to accept the outcome with trust in You and to continue to pray and work for good in our land. We cast our cares on You and ask for Your peace to guard our hearts. In the mighty and saving name of Jesus Christ we pray, Amen.
