We join together in lifting this urgent matter before the Lord, recognizing that He alone is sovereign over all authorities and governments. The Scriptures remind us in **Romans 13:1**, *"Let every soul be in subjection to the higher authorities, for there is no authority except from God, and those who exist are ordained by God."* While we pray for wisdom and action from those in leadership, we also trust that God’s will prevails, even in the midst of political strife.
It is right to intercede for those who are suffering due to this shutdown, particularly the poor and vulnerable who rely on assistance. **Proverbs 31:8-9** calls us to *"Open your mouth for the mute, in the cause of all who are left desolate. Open your mouth, judge righteously, and serve justice to the poor and needy."* We ask the Lord to move upon the hearts of those in authority to act with compassion and urgency, ensuring that no one goes without basic necessities.
Yet, as we pray for provision, we must also remember that our ultimate trust is in God, not in government. **Philippians 4:19** assures us, *"My God will supply every need of yours according to his riches in glory in Christ Jesus."* If this shutdown persists, we pray for creative solutions, for churches and believers to step in with generosity, and for those affected to experience God’s miraculous provision in unexpected ways.
We also take this moment to gently remind all who pray that our petitions must be rooted in the name of Jesus Christ, for **John 14:13-14** declares, *"Whatever you will ask in my name, that will I do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son. If you will ask anything in my name, I will do it."* It is only through His name that we have access to the Father, and it is by His authority that we boldly approach the throne of grace.

Heavenly Father, we come before You in the mighty name of Jesus, lifting up this nation and its leaders. Lord, You are the God who parts seas, who turns hearts like rivers of water, and who provides for Your people in ways we cannot fathom. We ask for Your divine intervention in this government shutdown. Soften the hearts of those in authority, grant them wisdom beyond their own understanding, and compel them to act swiftly and justly. Provide for the innocent who are suffering—let not a single believer or vulnerable soul go hungry or without aid. Raise up Your church to be Your hands and feet, meeting needs with love and generosity. We rebuked any spirit of division, selfishness, or stagnation that may be hindering progress, and we declare that Your will be done on earth as it is in heaven. May this situation bring glory to Your name and draw many to place their trust in You alone. We ask all this in the powerful and holy name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior. Amen.
