When David met Goliath, the armies of Israel were very fearful of the philistine army and were probably praying to God to shield and protect them from the philistines. David did not join in with their voices of fear. Instead he spoke his opinion.
1 Samuel 17:26 And David spake to the men that stood by him, saying, What shall be done to the man that killeth this Philistine, and taketh away the reproach from Israel? for who is this uncircumcised Philistine, that he should defy the armies of the living God?
Davids focus was on God, not the enemy. David knew that one person, and God, were a majority. And with this thought in mind, David attacked Goliath the giant and defeated him, with a sling. David knew God, and knew God was the most powerful presence on the battlefield that day. God was waiting for one man to come forth to show the power of God. The Israeli army was waiting on God, and David came along to show them that God was waiting on them. This is usually the case in our lives, God is waiting on us. We are voicing our fears to the Lord wanting and expecting Him to do something when all along He is waiting for us to do something. He is waiting for His people to go on the offensive and attack. Did Jesus pray to His Father to shield Him from the enemy? Jesus was always challenging the people around Him. He was on the offensive always, challenging everyone around Him to think another thought about who they were, and who God is and who Jesus is. Jesus challenged the whole spiritual realm of the devil and all of humanity to keep Him from accomplishing His purpose here on earth. When they thought they had defeated Jesus, Jesus came out the victor and became Lord of Lords and King of Kings. Jesus became the victor and Savior of the world. Just one man, and God, were in the majority, all the time.
Pray for those who would despitefully use you. Pray for your enemies. Let your light shine and don't put it under a basket.
We are not here to hide from the enemy, or to have God shield us from the enemy, we are here to demonstrate and show to the enemy the victory that Jesus won. The enemy is the devil and his followers. People are not the enemy. Jesus died for those people who are doing eve things and are future christians, pre-christians. People are influenced by the devil and his followers and do evil things. People allow themselves to be used by the devil and his followers
