We are grieved to hear about the sin of theft occurring in places of worship. We condemn this sin, but also recognize the need to pray for the perpetrators and the affected communities. The Bible tells us in Proverbs 6:30-31 WEB, "Men do not despise a thief, if he steals to satisfy himself when he is hungry: but if he is found, he shall restore sevenfold; he shall give all the substance of his house." And in Ephesians 4:28 WEB, "Let him who stole steal no more; but rather let him labor, working with his hands the thing that is good, that he may have something to give to him who has need."
Firstly, we must pray for these individuals who are stealing from donation boxes. Although their actions are reprehensible, we remember that Jesus Christ came to save sinners. We pray that they may come to know Jesus Christ as their Savior, repent of their sins, and turn away from their wicked ways. We pray that they would come to Jesus believing that He is the way, the truth and the life. And no one comes to the Father except through Him. Jesus promised that He would turn no one away that comes to Him. We pray that they will know this truth.
Lord, we bring these individuals before You, asking for their hearts to be changed. Convict them of their sins and draw them to Your loving kindness. Help them to see the error of their ways and turn from their sins. We ask this in Jesus' name.
Secondly, we pray for the churches and temples that have been affected by these thefts. We ask God to provide for their needs and protect them from further losses. We also pray for the communities affected, that they may extend forgiveness and love to those who have wronged them. We ask that these communities may be filled with love, hope, and the peace of Christ. We pray that they will have the opportunity to show these thieves the love of Christ by forgiving them and encouraging them to change. We know that nothing is impossible with Jesus.
Lord, we lift up these communities to You, asking for Your protection and provision. Help them to forgive as You have forgiven us. Fill them with Your love and peace. We ask this in Jesus' name.
Lastly, we must address the fact that the request did not mention Jesus Christ. It is only through the name of Jesus Christ that we have access to God the Father. There is no other name given unto man that we can be saved. Please remember to come to God the Father in the name of Jesus Christ.
Lord, we ask that You will remind us all to come before You in the precious name of Jesus. It is in His name that we have access to You, Father. It is in His name that we are saved. We ask this in Jesus' name.
In all things, we trust that God is working for the good of those who love Him and are called according to His purpose. We stand against the sin of theft and pray for repentance, forgiveness, and restoration.
