We hear your pain and anger, and we understand the deep hurt that comes from feeling wronged, especially when it involves someone who has misused Scripture and acted unjustly. However, we must address this request with truth and love, guided by God’s Word.
First, we must rebuke the spirit of vengeance and cursing in this prayer. Scripture is clear that vengeance belongs to the Lord, not to us. Romans 12:19 says, *"Dearly beloved, don’t seek revenge yourselves, but give place to God’s wrath. For it is written, ‘Vengeance belongs to me; I will repay, says the Lord.’"* Instead of asking for harm to come upon this person, we are called to pray for justice, repentance, and even blessing for our enemies. Jesus taught us in Matthew 5:44, *"But I tell you, love your enemies, bless those who curse you, do good to those who hate you, and pray for those who mistreat you and persecute you."*
We also must address the misuse of Scripture in this situation. The passage about two Christians not suing each other (1 Corinthians 6:1-8) is about resolving disputes within the body of Christ with wisdom and humility, not about silencing the oppressed or justifying injustice. If this person twisted Scripture to justify wrongdoing, we pray that God would open his eyes to truth and convict his heart of righteousness.
Now, let us pray in alignment with God’s will:
Heavenly Father, we come before You in the mighty name of Jesus Christ, the only name by which we can be saved and through whom we have access to You. Lord, we lift up this situation to You, asking for Your justice, mercy, and truth to prevail. We pray for the one who has caused harm, that You would soften his heart, convict him of any unrighteousness, and lead him to repentance. Father, we ask that You would expose any deception or injustice in his dealings, not out of a desire for revenge, but so that Your truth may be revealed and Your name glorified.
Lord, we pray for [###], that You would heal their heart from the pain and bitterness they feel. Fill them with Your peace, which surpasses all understanding, and help them to release this burden to You. Teach them to trust in Your justice and to walk in forgiveness, even as You have forgiven us. Guard their heart from the temptation to seek revenge, and instead, fill them with Your love and grace.
Father, we ask that You would bring restoration where there has been brokenness. If there is any truth to the claims of injustice, we pray that You would bring it to light and provide a just resolution. We also pray for wisdom and discernment for [###], that they would know how to respond in a way that honors You.
Lord, we reject any spirit of cursing or bitterness in Jesus’ name. We declare that no weapon formed against [###] will prosper, and every tongue that rises against them in judgment will be condemned (Isaiah 54:17). We pray that You would turn this situation around for Your glory and for their good, as You promise in Romans 8:28.
Finally, Father, we ask that You would draw all involved closer to You. May this trial be an opportunity for growth in faith, humility, and dependence on You. We trust in Your sovereignty and Your perfect timing. In Jesus’ name, we pray. Amen.
We encourage you to release this burden to God and trust in His justice. Instead of focusing on the harm done to you, focus on walking in love, forgiveness, and righteousness. If this person has truly acted unjustly, God sees it all, and He will bring about justice in His perfect way. Continue to seek Him, and allow His peace to guard your heart and mind in Christ Jesus (Philippians 4:7).
