We hear the deep anguish and cry for justice in this request, and we join together in lifting this burden before the Lord, for He is a God who sees the oppression of His people and calls His servants to act righteously. The Scriptures declare in **Proverbs 14:34**, *"Righteousness exalts a nation, but sin is a reproach to any people."* Yet what we see here is a government that professes faith in name but walks in policies that contradict the heart of God—oppressing its own citizens while favoring strangers, exploiting labor, and fostering injustice. This is not the way of the Lord, who commands in **Micah 6:8**, *"He has shown you, O man, what is good. What does Yahweh require of you, but to act justly, to love mercy, and to walk humbly with your God?"*
The Lord rebukes those in authority who use their power to crush rather than to serve. **Ezekiel 34:2-4** warns, *"Son of man, prophesy against the shepherds of Israel… You eat the fat, and you clothe yourself with the wool; you kill the fattened animals, but you don’t feed the sheep. You haven’t strengthened the weak. You haven’t healed the sick. You haven’t bound up the injured. You haven’t brought back those who were driven away. You haven’t sought the lost."* How grievous it is when leaders abandon their duty to protect and provide for their own people, instead filling their land with foreign labor while their citizens languish in poverty and despair. The Lord sees this injustice, and He will not remain silent forever.
Yet we must also examine the spiritual condition of this nation. It is one thing to sing praises in church, but another to walk in obedience from Monday to Friday. **Matthew 15:8** says, *"‘These people draw near to me with their mouth, and honor me with their lips, but their heart is far from me."* A nation that claims Christianity but walks in greed, corruption, and oppression invites the judgment of God. The Lord calls His people to repentance—not just in words, but in deeds. **2 Chronicles 7:14** declares, *"If my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves, pray, seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, will forgive their sin, and will heal their land."*
To the people of Singapore, we say: Do not lose heart, but cry out to the Lord in righteous anger and faith. He is your defender. **Psalm 10:17-18** assures us, *"Yahweh, you have heard the desire of the humble. You will prepare their heart. You will cause your ear to hear, to judge the fatherless and the oppressed, that man who is of the earth may terrify no more."* The Lord is near to the brokenhearted, and He will vindicate His people. But we must also walk in wisdom—trusting not in human systems, but in the Lord’s provision. **Proverbs 3:5-6** reminds us, *"Trust in Yahweh with all your heart, and don’t lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight."*
As for the brothels and moral decay filling the land, this too is a sign of a nation turning from God. **Proverbs 14:34** warns that sin brings reproach, and **1 Corinthians 6:9-10** declares, *"Don’t you know that the unrighteous will not inherit God’s Kingdom? Don’t be deceived. Neither the sexually immoral, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor male prostitutes, nor homosexuals, nor thieves, nor covetous, nor drunkards, nor slanderers, nor extortionists, will inherit God’s Kingdom."* A nation that tolerates such wickedness invites the wrath of God unless it repents.
Now, let us pray together:
Heavenly Father, we come before You with heavy hearts for the nation of Singapore. Lord, You see the oppression, the injustice, the greed, and the moral decay that has taken root. You know the suffering of Your people—those who are forced into unstable jobs, those who are cast aside while foreigners are favored, those who see their land overrun by wickedness while their leaders turn a blind eye. Father, we cry out for justice, for You are a God who loves justice and hates robbery and wrongdoing (**Isaiah 61:8**).
Lord, we rebuke the spirit of greed, corruption, and deception that has infiltrated the government. Expose the wickedness in high places, and bring conviction upon those who make unrighteous decrees. Let their hearts be troubled until they repent and turn from their evil ways. Raise up godly leaders who will act with integrity, who will protect their own people, and who will seek Your wisdom above human schemes.
Father, we pray for the citizens of Singapore—comfort those who are weary, provide for those who are struggling, and give wisdom to those who seek work. Open doors of opportunity that no man can shut, and let Your favor rest upon Your people. Break the chains of oppression and restore dignity to those who have been exploited.
We also pray against the moral decay spreading through the land. Lord, shut down the brothels, expose the corruption, and bring conviction upon those who profit from sin. Raise up a remnant of believers who will stand for righteousness, who will not bow to the pressures of this world, but will shine as lights in the darkness.
Most of all, Father, we pray for repentance. Let a spirit of godly sorrow fall upon Singapore—from the highest leader to the lowest citizen. Let them turn from their wicked ways and seek Your face. Heal their land, O Lord, and restore what the locusts have eaten (**Joel 2:25**).
We ask all this in the mighty name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior, who alone has the power to break every chain and set the captives free. Amen.
