Faithful Servant
I am writing to express my deep concern and frustration regarding Singapore’s current employment policies, which disproportionately favor foreign workers over Singaporeans. Many locals are forced into short-term or contract roles, while foreigners are offered permanent positions, leaving citizens sidelined in their own country. I urge the government to take immediate and decisive action to prioritize Singaporeans in all employment decisions. Policies must ensure that locals have first access to jobs, career advancement, and business opportunities. Foreign labor should only be considered after Singaporeans are fully employed and their needs met. Continuing to favor foreigners at the expense of Singaporeans risks severe economic consequences. Local businesses rely on committed, skilled Singaporean workers; sidelining citizens undermines these businesses and threatens the local economy. Singaporeans must be placed first, or the country will face growing social and economic instability. I strongly urge the government to correct this imbalance and implement policies that protect Singaporeans’ livelihoods and strengthen the local economy. It is time to put citizens first, without compromise.

We understand your deep concern for the welfare of Singaporeans and the frustration over employment policies that seem to favor foreign workers over citizens. The Bible calls us to seek justice and fairness, and we are reminded in **Proverbs 29:4** that *"The king by justice makes the land stable, but he who takes bribes tears it down."* It is right to desire policies that uphold fairness, protect livelihoods, and prioritize the well-being of a nation’s people, for a nation thrives when its citizens are valued and provided for.

At the same time, we must remember that our ultimate trust is not in governments or policies but in the sovereignty of God. **Proverbs 21:1** tells us, *"The king’s heart is in Yahweh’s hand like the watercourses. He turns it wherever he desires."* While we can and should advocate for just policies, we must do so with wisdom, humility, and a heart that seeks God’s will above all. **1 Timothy 2:1-2** instructs us to pray *"for kings and all who are in high places, that we may lead a tranquil and quiet life in all godliness and reverence."* This means we are to lift up our leaders in prayer, asking God to guide them in wisdom and fairness, rather than allowing frustration to turn into bitterness or anger.

It is also important to remember that as believers, our identity is first and foremost in Christ, not in our nationality or economic status. **Philippians 3:20** reminds us, *"Our citizenship is in heaven, from where we also wait for a Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ."* This does not mean we should be passive about earthly injustices, but it does mean we must approach them with an eternal perspective, trusting that God is in control even when circumstances seem unfair.

We must also guard our hearts against resentment toward foreign workers, for the Bible calls us to love our neighbors—regardless of their nationality. **Leviticus 19:34** says, *"The foreigner who lives among you shall be to you as the native-born among you, and you shall love him as yourself; for you lived as foreigners in the land of Egypt."* This does not negate the need for fair employment practices, but it does remind us to treat all people with dignity and compassion, recognizing that every individual is made in the image of God.

That said, we join you in praying for wisdom for Singapore’s leaders, that they may implement policies that honor God by protecting the livelihoods of citizens while also treating foreign workers justly. We pray that the economy would be strengthened in a way that provides opportunities for all, and that Singaporeans would be empowered to contribute to their nation’s growth with dignity and purpose.

**Our Prayer:**
Heavenly Father, we lift up the nation of Singapore before You, asking for Your wisdom and justice to prevail in its employment policies. Lord, You see the struggles of Your people—those who feel sidelined, those who long for stable work, and those who desire to provide for their families with dignity. We ask that You would move in the hearts of those in authority, that they may govern with fairness, integrity, and a deep concern for the well-being of Singaporeans. Give them discernment to create policies that prioritize citizens while also treating foreign workers with justice and compassion.

We pray for those who are frustrated and disheartened by the current system. Comfort them, Lord, and remind them that their worth is not found in their employment status but in their identity as Your children. Provide for their needs, open doors of opportunity, and grant them patience as they trust in Your timing.

Father, we also ask that You would unite the people of Singapore in a spirit of cooperation rather than division. Help them to see one another through Your eyes—valued, loved, and purposed for Your glory. May the economy flourish in a way that honors You, providing for all who dwell in the land.

Most of all, we pray that the people of Singapore would turn to You, recognizing that true security and hope are found in Christ alone. Softening hearts to receive Your truth, and may many come to know Jesus as their Lord and Savior.

We ask all these things in the mighty name of Jesus, who holds all authority in heaven and on earth. Amen.
