Faithful Servant
I am writing as a concerned citizen regarding the current employment situation in Singapore. It has been two months since I last secured a job, and I am deeply concerned about the continued preference for foreign workers over Singaporeans, especially in critical roles. Many Singaporeans without high qualifications are being forced into low-paying, insecure, or contract-based work, which exploits local talent and hinders career development, rather than providing meaningful employment opportunities. This disadvantage also impacts our ability to plan for and start families, as unstable employment and lower income limit financial security and life planning. Meanwhile, foreigners continue to be favored, exacerbating unemployment and limiting the prospects of citizens. I respectfully urge the government to stop hiring foreigners completely until Singaporeans are given fair, secure, and meaningful employment opportunities. Policies must protect citizens’ livelihoods, uphold ethical labor practices, and ensure that all Singaporeans have a chance to develop careers, achieve financial stability, and build families. I trust that under your leadership, steps can be taken to restore fairness, prioritize local talent, and secure the long-term future of Singaporeans. I would greatly appreciate acknowledgment of this feedback and any measures being considered to address this urgent matter. Thank you for your attention and commitment to Singapore’s future.

We lift you up in prayer as you navigate this season of unemployment and the broader challenges facing Singaporeans in the workforce. Your heart for justice and fairness reflects God’s own concern for the vulnerable and the dignity of labor. The Scriptures remind us that work is a gift from God, meant to provide not only for our needs but also to bring glory to Him. *Ecclesiastes 3:13* tells us, *"Also that every man should eat and drink, and enjoy good in all his labor, is the gift of God."* Yet we also know that in a fallen world, systems and circumstances can create hardship, and we are called to seek God’s wisdom and provision in all things.

Your frustration is understandable, especially when policies or practices seem to disadvantage locals in favor of foreign workers. While we pray for systemic change, we also encourage you to trust in God’s sovereignty over your life and the future of your nation. *Proverbs 16:3* says, *"Commit your deeds to Yahweh, and your plans shall succeed."* This does not mean success will come instantly or without effort, but that when we align our steps with God’s will, He directs our paths. Have you sought His guidance in how to proceed during this season? Have you asked Him to open doors that no man can shut, even in a competitive job market?

We also gently remind you that while advocating for fair policies is important, our ultimate hope is not in governments or human systems but in Christ alone. *Psalm 146:3-5* warns, *"Don’t put your trust in princes, each a son of man in whom there is no help. His spirit departs, and he returns to the earth. In that very day, his plans perish. Happy is he who has the God of Jacob for his help, whose hope is in Yahweh, his God."* This does not mean we should not engage with earthly authorities—indeed, we are called to pray for them (*1 Timothy 2:1-2*)—but our trust must remain in the Lord.

As for your concern about starting a family, we understand the weight of financial instability in such a significant decision. The Bible honors marriage and family as foundational institutions (*Genesis 2:24, Psalm 127:3-5*), and it is right to desire stability before taking such a step. However, we also encourage you to remember that God provides for His children in ways we cannot always foresee. *Matthew 6:31-33* assures us, *"Therefore don’t be anxious, saying, ‘What will we eat?’ ‘What will we drink?’ or, ‘With what will we be clothed?’ For the Gentiles seek after all these things; for your heavenly Father knows that you need all these things. But seek first God’s Kingdom and his righteousness; and all these things will be given to you as well."*

Let us pray together for you and for Singapore:

Heavenly Father, we come before You on behalf of our brother who is seeking employment and justice in his nation. Lord, You are the Provider, the One who sees the struggles of Your people and acts on their behalf. We ask that You open doors of opportunity for him—doors that align with Your will and bring stability, dignity, and purpose. Give him favor in the eyes of employers and wisdom to navigate this season with faith, not fear.

We also lift up the broader issue of employment in Singapore. Father, You are a God of justice, and You care deeply about the welfare of Your people. We pray for wisdom for those in authority, that they would enact policies that honor the dignity of labor and prioritize the well-being of citizens. Soften hearts and open eyes to the needs of the local workforce, that fairness and equity may prevail.

For those feeling discouraged or anxious about the future—especially in matters of family and provision—remind them of Your faithfulness. You have never abandoned Your people, and You will not start now. Help them to trust in You, even when the path forward is unclear.

We rebuke any spirit of fear, discouragement, or bitterness that may try to take root in this situation. Instead, fill our brother with hope, perseverance, and a deep assurance that You are working all things together for his good (*Romans 8:28*).

Finally, Lord, we pray that through this trial, Your name would be glorified. May our brother’s testimony be one of Your faithfulness, and may others see Your hand at work in his life. We ask all this in the mighty name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior. Amen.

As you wait, we encourage you to use this time to draw closer to God. Seek Him in prayer, study His Word, and consider how He might be preparing you for what lies ahead. If you have not already, connect with a local church or Christian community for support and encouragement. And if there are practical steps you can take—such as upskilling, networking, or exploring new industries—do so with the confidence that God goes before you.

If you are not already walking closely with Jesus, we urge you to place your trust in Him. It is only through Christ that we have access to the Father (*John 14:6*), and it is in His name that we find true security, not just in employment, but in eternity. If you would like to know more about what it means to follow Jesus, we would be happy to share the good news of the Gospel with you.

Stand firm in faith, knowing that God is your Provider and your Advocate. He has not forgotten you.

We stand with you in prayer, dear brother, as you navigate this uncertain employment landscape. Your passion for justice and fairness is commendable, and we join you in praying for a change that prioritizes Singaporean talent and ensures meaningful employment opportunities for all.

We understand the frustration you feel, seeing foreign workers favored over locals, especially when it comes to critical roles. It's disheartening to see our fellow Singaporeans struggle to find stable, well-paying jobs, and we share your concern about the impact this has on our ability to plan for families and secure our futures.

We pray that our leaders would have the wisdom to implement policies that protect our livelihoods, uphold ethical labor practices, and ensure that all Singaporeans have a fair chance to develop their careers, achieve financial stability, and build families. We trust that under their leadership, steps can be taken to restore fairness, prioritize local talent, and secure the long-term future of our nation.

As we wait for these changes, let's remember to trust in the Lord's sovereignty. He sees our struggles and has a plan for our lives. Let's seek His guidance in how to proceed during this season, asking Him to open doors that no man can shut, even in a competitive job market.

Let's also use this time to draw closer to God. Seek Him in prayer, study His Word, and consider how He might be preparing you for what lies ahead. If you haven't already, connect with a local church or Christian community for support and encouragement. And if there are practical steps you can take, like upskilling, networking, or exploring new industries, do so with the confidence that God goes before you.

Stand firm in faith, knowing that God is your Provider and your Advocate. He has not forgotten you. He loves you and has a purpose for your life. Trust in Him, and let's continue to pray for justice, fairness, and prosperity for our beloved Singapore.

Lord, we pray for this prayer and family for blessings healing and salvation. Heal and bless. May their lives be a praise and glory unto thee.
Come to the Lord's holy presence. Seek him with all your heart. Cling to his Word and meditate on it moment by moment by positive thoughts and joy in the heart (James 1:2-4), knowing that the Lord is good and to him be all the praise. Seek first God's kingdom and his righteousness (Matthew 6:33). Even though life may feel hard, the Lord's hand will be on you, and he will answer in his time. I am praying for you. Amen.
